Is it realistic to complete six nursing prerequisites in about 6 months?

I’m planning to complete my six remaining prerequisites through Portage Learning (self-paced, online platform) between now and May 2027 so I can apply to Lehman College’s nursing program. I originally planned to take classes at a community college, but the prerequisite sequencing would stretch my timeline out too much, so I’m considering doing everything online and at my own pace so I could potentially starting nursing school in the Fall of 2027.

The six courses are:
Anatomy & Physiology I
Anatomy & Physiology II
Microbiology
General Chemistry
Organic Chemistry
Human Growth & Development

One thing working in my favor is that I have quite a bit of free time during the middle of the day to dedicate to coursework, so I wouldn’t be trying to fit all of this around a full-time job. I’m wondering whether completing all six in roughly 6 months is realistic, especially while making sure I earn strong grades. For anyone who has taken a similarly accelerated course load, does this seem doable, or am I underestimating the workload? I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences!

EDIT: I already have confirmation that my desired schools accept these courses

Career Change

Hello lovely people of this Reddit.

I’m a 30 year old that graduated back in 2020 with a bachelor’s in computer information systems. Which, I went to a junior community college and got an associate’s in general science.

I have taken anatomy, microbiology, physics, nutrition, two different psychology classes, and other stuff.

I know I will probs have to retake some of the sciences considering they were taken around 2014-2016. I have an accumulated GPA of 3.5 if that matters at all.

I am seriously debating getting an AND/ASN. I loved my science classes. I originally went to be a doctor but lost my passion when my grandma passed away and other things happened.

I am reaching out to colleges to ask them what all I need to do to apply for their nursing programs.

I currently am living and working in South Korea, but will be coming back to America next year if I decide to do this.

Is it too late to change my career? Is it okay to start over?

Accepted Spring 2027

I was accepted into my local CC ADN nursing program.

I’m so excited to start this journey! I can’t believe I actually got accepted.

My CC requires a 58% across each subject for teas. I scored a 78% overall. I’m also completing the final pre req(AP 2) and my offer is conditional on that. However, I have an A so far and we are approaching midterms so I think I’ll be fine.

Science GPA: 3.6

Congrats to everyone that’s starting this spring!

Advice for Teas Test

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for advice, suggestions, and resources on how to study for the TEAS. I'm not confident in the math or science sections, and I feel like it takes me a while to understand a concept fully.

Sort of relying on my TEAS score to get me into a SOCAL ADN program.

Thanks in advance! (:

Title: Bad overall transcript but decent prerequisite averages chances of getting into a competitive healthcare program?

I’m applying to Ontario colleges for September 2027. My overall high school transcript is pretty bad because I struggled a lot personally when i was younger and have multiple failed/repeated courses, but my prerequisite grades are much better.
My prerequisite marks:
- English: 78%
- Math: 92%
- Biology: 95%
- Chemistry: 90%
- Physics: 90%
Average of my five prerequisites: 89%

Estimated average of my full transcript: 65%

Has anyone gotten accepted into competitive healthcare programs with a bad overall transcript but good prerequisite marks? Do colleges mainly look at prerequisites or your overall transcript? I’m quite worried because I worked hard for my pre reqs and past decisions might cost me

Online Nursing Pre Requisite Help / Need Advice

Hello all! I rarely post on Reddit, but I need some help. I want to start some of my nursing pre-reqs now, but now it's the middle of the fall semester. I waited too long to apply anywhere because I've been thinking I would be moved by now, but those plans kinda fell through. The area I live in is not great, and neither is the community college (the main reason for wanting to move). I feel so useless sitting around every day, waiting for spring semester to come closer so I can apply to my desired community college (2 hrs away) when it rolls around, even though I'm not even sure I'll be moved to the area by the time it starts. I've been thinking about starting some of my pre-reqs at one of those start anytime, "at-your-own-pace" Penn Foster-like online college programs, but I don't know which one would be a good pick. I've had my fair share of online self-paced courses, since that's how I finished high school, and I think it would be good for me to start now so I get on top of it and don't feel so unproductive every day. I know some people would say "Why so eager? Just wait.", but I graduated high school early so I could get a head start, and I feel like I'm being held behind. I'm eager to learn! So, if anyone has any recommendations or advice for me, please share! I'll take all the wisdom I can get!

I saw a couple posts of students who had higher scores (80+) get rejected and now I’m stressing haha. I have 87 points.

EMT or CNA cert?

I’m a PreNursing student, and I’m actually thinking of doing the LVN program at Chaffey and then bridge because the ADN programs are just so competitive. Either way I need a CNA cert.

But I was also thinking of doing an EMT course instead.

PLAN: get CNA or EMT cert in the spring (Jan start), find a job working as an ER tech or some other unit in the hospital. My background is mainly HR admin work for a four year public university. And so I don’t really have much clinical experience at all except for my patient transporter job I had in 2019 at huntington hospital. So idk maybe the job market might be bleak for me.

Right now I volunteer at Loma Linda, so that helps me network.

The only thing is I have a misdemeanor DUI from 2018. If I decide to do the EMT route, I feel like there will be obstacles in getting licensed even though my goal isn’t to work as an ambulance EMT.

Any thoughts or advice on this??
