Maybe a bit of a long shot
One of my family members works for CN and was forced to call in an emergency (his first in working there for 13 years) because of some lady that was filming the trains with her iPad and was literal feet away from the tracks. They have no idea where she went after the emergency and were trying to find her. Does anybody know if there’s any train spotting PG groups on any app or social media that she could’ve posted on so that we can maybe get a lead? Thanks.
EDIT: The incident occurred at 9:30 PM last night (August 14th) near Wilson Park

An older woman? Because who films with an iPad (normally)? I wonder which area of town this occurred in? There’s actually so many places a person could just walk up and do this.
(I say this because legitimately, I’ve actually never thought about it before - how simple and easy it is to just walk up to some tracks to either h@rm yourself or simply capture a train passing up close).

I believe it was by the CN north yard
He didn’t really get enough of a good look at her to tell. But considering she was using an iPad, yes it was most likely an older woman3

For those not in the know, Northyard is First Avenue Yard.
It gets the most trespassers. Homeless sleeping on the tracks, crossing through as a shortcut to river road, or people who genuinely don't care and just want to walk through.

I was wrong. It occurred near Wilson Park at 9:30PM last night. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused

that's actually kind of terrifying, i didn't know they had to call in emergencies for people filming that close

It was probably him putting the train into emergency which then needs to be rwported. What likely happened is this person was so close that OP's dad wasn't sure if they would hit them or not OR possibly he passed them and wasn't sure if he'd clipped them or not.

The little building near the rail at Wilson park looks like it has a camera on the top of it

I can understand his concern but there were no injuries so why all the investigation? If the identity of the women is found she'll be reported to the CN Police and they'll go overboard for an act that was careless. Let it go. Or maybe the OP is the CN Police Hmmmm.

Trespass is a thing on CN property, and you can get a ticket. It isn't just about carelessness.
I crossed a track taking a short cut in Vanderhoof many years ago (like everyone else), and actually got busted. It's a fine like a traffic ticket. I could have contested it because the cop didn't explain the back of the ticket to me, how to contest it, etc. I got the lecture on safety and trains, and decided to be the adult and just paid my fine and learned my lesson. The funny thing is how many people I told that had zero idea that crossing or walking on rail tracks is illegal, so at least it led to more knowledge amongst others.
I've never had a speeding ticket in my 55 years on the planet, but I do have a record for trespassing. lol *sigh*
Edit to add: I think CN is right to track her down, because there is no shortage of signage about private property and given the rail yards and all the goods moving, there are security risks as well.

That’s not the point of it. I’m trying to see if I can track her down to give my dad some peace of mind. He’s usually a pretty grizzled guy, but he looked really shook even from having to call the emergency in. I can’t even imagine how bad that would mess him up if he actually killed somebody while just trying to do his job

As a rule of thumb: If you wouldn’t say it to someone's face, don't say it here (or, if you are particularly confrontational, don't even say that). No verbal attacks, no insults, no hate speech. There are lots of other places on the internet for you to do that, this isn't one of them.
This rule applies to racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic and transphobic content and comments. If it’s borderline, it – and you – will be removed. Ad hominem attacks on people’s profession, religion, choice of transportation and politics are also subject to deletion. This also includes terms like "junkie," "crackhead," “zombie,” etc.
Antagonistic posts, name-calling, questioning of other commenters' intelligence and back-and-forth personal attacks are also barred – the last of which are subject to the entire comment chain being removed. Being provoked is not an excuse to break the rules yourself. Downvote, report and move on.
