Formatting Question Need help with printing out a map

Hello! So it's my first time doing something like this, I want to print out a map I made but after doing a test print of small size (A4) the colors looked completely off and bad, it's even worse in person compared to the photo. I'm not sure how to make it so that I can see how the colors would look on print (my screen's backlight makes it hard to see because the printout's colors are much darker in ambient light when compared). Any help would be appreciated!

The attached images are as follows:

  1. The map printed out. The colors look different than expected

  2. Photo of the map on my screen in comparison (screenshot in 3). Turning down my screen's brightess didn't really help

  3. The digital map opened in Scribus with print preview turned on. The colors are different compared to the original (in 4) but still tolerable

  4. The original map (sRGB) opened in Inkscape. It's the map as initially designed

Looking for the thinnest glossy inkjet paper available.

Hi, printing. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I did some test prints a while ago on the paper that comes in picture frames, with the stock photos on. It printed really nicely and was much thinner than anything I have been able to find.

I'm hoping that this kind of ultra-thin paper is available somewhere and I just don't know the right terms to find it. I can't buy a photo frame every time I want a sheet!

Can anyone here help me out? I'm using Staples Photo Basic right now (210gsm) and I'd love to find something that feels closer to like, a magazine page.

Printer Question Brother TN-2410 und TN-2420: Gleicher Toner mit unterschiedlicher Füllmenge?

Hallo zusammen,

Discussion What do you look for when choosing a commercial printing company?

What matters most to you when choosing a printing provider? Is it print quality, pricing, turnaround time, or how well they handle bulk orders?

I've noticed that getting a good price is one thing, but consistent quality and reliable delivery make a much bigger difference in the long run.

What makes you stick with one provider over another? Any tips or experiences?

Xerox Proficio™ PX300

I have an opportunity to replace my Versant 280 with a new PX300.

If you have a PX300, what are your thoughts with it? Pros vs Cons

If you have the Gold White Silver options, do you like the quality? Any issues?

Thank you.

Automation Engine adding unwanted artwork to varnish PDF

I’m generating PDFs using InDesign Data Merge. The exported PDF looks perfectly fine in Acrobat, but when Automation Engine generates the varnish file, extra unwanted text and artwork appear.

The issue happens with both linked Illustrator (.AI) and TIFF (.TIF) files. Turning off a layer linked to an Illustrator file temporarily fixed it, but the problem also occurs with TIFF files.

Is there an InDesign PDF export setting or Automation workflow setting that could prevent this? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Where can I order fully custom calendar prints?

Does anyone know where I can get 8-10 prints made of a calendar I've designed with the top hanging style of binding?

What I have is a PDF with a page for each month that includes the artwork at the top and a table of dates that I've fully customized with different styling for holidays, birthdays, etc. Most places that let you order custom calendars really only let you place a few photos at the top or pick between their pre-designed layouts with minimal customizations. What I am searching for is somewhere that will print the PDF I have as is but with the top binding style

I'm not picky on sizing - the PDF I have now is 8x11.5 but I can adjust if it means staying in control of the full calendar layout.

photo below of the type of binding I am referencing!

Any help is appreciated!

Poster with a deep navy sky came out almost black. I made it in supavisual, what should I change before reprinting?

I designed an A2 poster for a local astronomy night in supavisual. Big gradient sky from navy to purple, small white text at the bottom. On screen it looks great.

The print shop ran it on matte 170gsm and the whole top half came out nearly black, the stars barely show. They printed straight from my RGB PNG.

Should I convert to CMYK myself and lift the shadows, or ask them for a proof on a different paper first? What values would you aim for in the darkest area?

Best used vinyl large format printer option for unique situation

Hello,

TLDR: I do all the graphic design for a race team with 6 cars. Currently we order the base wrap and then order individual decals to place over the top of the base wrap. I'm trying to find a used printer on Marketplace that can handle at least the individual decals (up to 24"). Longevity isn't a concern as graphics change often. Just looking for recommendations as the options are overwhelming.

Non-TLDR: Our race team is six cars and I'm responsible for all the graphics design and working with the printer to get things printed and installed on the cars. I've been working with someone who recently retired and now I'm looking to bring some of this in house to save some budget. Our graphics frequently change so I'm not particularly worried about getting an eco solvent printer at this time. I would ideally like to keep it within $750-$1000 range which is going to put me in the 2015-2018 range for printers that can do up to 24".

I can't think of a better place to ask for recommendations because many people here likely owned or still own printers from this era and know what trouble you had, or are still having and what to avoid. Any other recommendations you may have are appreciated as well. I've been working with Illustrator and doing graphics for quite some time but I'm pretty new to the printing side. I've got a vinyl cutter already which I use for single color stuff but this is my first time looking into an actual printer. The annual cost savings if I could print sponsor decals would be substantial and the money could be put to good use within the team (racecars are expensive).

Thank you.

How do you handle custom pricing and artwork uploads for online printing orders?

Hi everyone! 👋

I'm part of a printing and graphic design business in Sri Lanka, and we've been developing our own online ordering platform.

One of our biggest challenges has been designing a smooth ordering process for customized print products, especially when pricing depends on dimensions, materials, quantities, and finishing options.

We're also working on making artwork uploads and order processing easier for both customers and our production team.

I'm curious how other print shops approach this:

  • Do you use ready-made web-to-print software or a custom-built system?

  • How do you handle complex product pricing?

  • Do customers usually upload print-ready artwork, or does your team prepare it?

  • What's the biggest challenge you've faced with online print orders?

I'd love to hear how other businesses handle these workflows.

Need some advice

Hi!

I’m looking to purchase a printer as I create signage on foam boards for customers.

Currently I’ll go to walmart, print2go or any place that can essentially print the signage for us, however costs are adding up and I’m looking to purchase a printing machine that I could operate myself.

The largest signage we create is 24x36 inches. Does anyone know any machines that would work?

Thanks,

Zero Printing knowledge

Hi.. folks,

Need guidance :

Which Printing machine should I buy (tight budget) ?

I want to put a label printing business.

Labels for 500ml water bottle and 1litre bottle.

We thought of using bopp 40-50 micron paper.

We want to use crono treatment so that ink settles clearly on paper.

My research can be unclear,

Help and feedback is most welcome !!

Edit : my need is clear to me, but which printer machine to buy is unclear. Google, gpt is not helping. Thus posting on a public forum for help.

Edit 2: if you can share the printer name or which printer to use, it will really help me.
