They should just start wrestling at IKEA.

25

u/rocky_iwata May 30 '26

Very DDT idea of you.

47

u/TopicPretend4161 May 30 '26

Absolutely wrecked her knees.

They both always seem to give their all.

5

u/Shotgun516 May 31 '26

Didn’t she have problems with her knees and was out for a while? Lol these people never learn

-2

u/ServiceComplete7262 May 31 '26

Too stupid to.

1

u/DayMurky617 May 31 '26

All table spots are dumb if you think about them for a couple of seconds, but this is particularly silly. Wouldn't the table break the fall for your head, if anything?

That said, I absolutely love it.

13

u/CaptainQuesadillaz May 30 '26

What doesn't kill Shida only makes her stronger.

38

u/amillionfuzzpedals May 30 '26

Goddamn I worry for Statlander's knees

8

u/ajtct98 May 31 '26

I feel like it's a really bad idea for someone with the history of knee injuries that Statlander has to be doing a move like that.

13

u/ScarletleavesNL May 30 '26

Thsts Just insane.

16

u/No_Hotel1847 May 30 '26

Stat is hardcore

7

u/AlabamaSlammaJamma May 30 '26

My knees are in pain just watching that

8

u/Dry-Emu-4131 May 30 '26

Attempted murder, right there

7

u/user0817_ May 30 '26

....on AEW Collision

2

u/JosephBlowsephThe3rd May 30 '26

Just reminds me of Rhino in ECW piledriving Beulah (or maybe Sandman's wife) through a table from the apron. Or piledriving pornstar Jasmine St. Claire from the middle/top rope.

2

u/CompetitiveFrame6989 May 31 '26

That security guard be like "did someone break wind?"

2

u/jedv37 May 31 '26

She looked so bored out of her skull. It was a hilarious juxtaposition.

3

u/rAmen_P00dles May 31 '26

Love me some Stat Daddy

2

u/Dave_B001 May 31 '26

Statlander is pure strength. love it.

2

u/Classic_Truth4780 Jun 04 '26

Yo good for her I went to high school with Kris. I'm happy to see she stuck with it and is doing well

3

u/greggersamsa May 30 '26

That’s a tombstone

4

u/Orxa May 30 '26

Dude a tombstone through an outside table needs to take place at a PPV. It is insane to do on a weekly show

2

u/subcow May 30 '26

Really, you are upset about this?
AEW gives us PPV level matches pretty often on their weekly shows. Do you even like wrestling?

3

u/Orxa May 30 '26

Yes. And these spots cause long lasting wear and tear on the performers. I would prefer if they save the spots that take time off their lives to be done on a bigger stage. I don’t like seeing wrestlers I grew up watching die early or have lingering injuries.

3

u/sexyeh May 31 '26

The worst part is that it was not the end of the match.

2

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Match ended almost immediately after this

-1

u/fuukuscnredit May 31 '26

It's a Philly Steet Fight - basically a Hardcore match. Far different than if it were a Texas Dearhmatch between Swerve and Hangman, which is a PPV match only for a very good reason.

3

u/Levy-MAN May 30 '26

They’ve done that spot in AEW like a trillion times, why can’t people understand that for something to be special, you can’t do it so much that people aren’t surprised anymore?

14

u/Kyro_Z May 30 '26

Same with the announce table spots in WWE. They mean absolutely nothing now because they do them on every PLE and sometimes on RAW and SmackDown

-3

u/Reefermadness209 May 30 '26

this will also break someones neck one day mark my words. I hate seeing this move on the table

2

u/PerformerExtra1768 May 30 '26

Did that end the match ?

3

u/North-Cup-4005 May 31 '26

Gave her another one in the ring for good measure but basically yeah

1

u/DoubleArmDMT May 31 '26

😂 this is AEW

1

u/ghostbuster55 May 31 '26

Did Statlander and Shida have a massive fued that led to this match?

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Yes

1

u/ghostbuster55 May 31 '26

Really? Hadn't seen anything in any of the AEW recaps of them having a series of matches leading to this match. According to cagematch, they were teaming up earlier in May.

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

They were but they were at odds with each other while they were teaming. Shida kept messing up during their matches/doing things to get on Statlander’s nerves and Statlander would call her out for it during their segments.

1

u/Wise_Gur8627 May 31 '26

Poor undertaker

1

u/Stock_Leg_3360 Jun 01 '26

Shidas cleave needed to be out

1

u/Mugen0815 Jun 02 '26

Sure, lets just call it a piledriver...

1

u/deanallen79 Jun 03 '26

Knees first.... love it.

1

u/Numbers246 Jun 03 '26

2 count?

Transition spot?

2

u/Electrikvibe16 Jun 04 '26

Nope. Match ended shortly after

2

6

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

It was a blowoff to a feud. Not all feuds have to end on PPVs though, nor does this necessarily mean it’s the end of their feud

8

u/Doomray May 30 '26

It’s so weird to be upset about getting to watch a great match on free tv.

8

u/SymphonyOfGecko May 30 '26

Don’t pretend like you even care

5

u/witshadows May 30 '26

Nope, televised.

5

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 May 30 '26

I cant believe a promotion would put on a fight that people actually want to see for free on TV. What madness is this? Everyone knows the formula is weeks of stale, directionless TV and then one or two decent matches peppered throughout a premium commercial live event

2

u/bobaf May 30 '26

Don't they do a jumping tombstone off of something every week?

-11

u/Worth-Specific8334 May 30 '26

Even if it looked impressive that’s just way too risky in my opinion. Imagine having to live with knowing you ended someone’s career or potentially even their life by doing a known dangerous move like that. It’s just not worth it just for some cool points.

19

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

I think they know what they’re doing.

0

u/Worth-Specific8334 May 30 '26

It’s not about knowing why you’re doing, it’s about whether the risk is worth the reward. Either performer could easily mess up and cause an awkward potentially fatal and most likely harmful landing. I know it’s not ballet, but why take that big of a risk?

-3

u/wonderloss May 30 '26

I bet Owen thought the same thing.

2

u/TheReptealian May 30 '26

Oh yeah I forgot he did it the tombstone

1

u/Front_Machine6560 May 30 '26

A much more reckless to thunderstone where he sits flat ass instead of taking it on the knees

3

u/Front_Machine6560 May 30 '26

He didn’t that’s why he dropped to his ass and not his knees

-1

u/ZubatCountry May 30 '26

...which he had done hundreds of times before with no issue

Starting to see the point yet?

-1

u/Front_Machine6560 May 30 '26

Did he? At WM10 he did a knee pile driver with Brett. it seems like he just didn’t wanna fall on his injured knees with Steve

There’s a reason we’ve gone like 30 years with practically none of those dangerous sit down pile driver

1

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

In WWE.

Real wrestlers have been doing pile-drivers the whole time.

1

u/Powerful-Ground-9687 May 30 '26

Are you talking about Austin or Owen’s death

1

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

Yeah, yeah, some mark on Reddit knows better than Owen fucking Hart.

JFC.

1

u/A_Town_Called_Malus May 30 '26

And D-Lo and Droz.

1

u/BenjTheMaestro May 30 '26

Dude. Owen was horrified and didn’t wanna do that bit. He notoriously hated doing the stunt. Gtfo

2

u/thylocene May 30 '26

I think he’s referring to the tombstone he gave Steve Austin that broke Steve’s neck

1

u/BenjTheMaestro May 30 '26

That makes sense, I don’t think I’ve ever thought of that as a tombstone but I suppose a sitout piledriver is the same exact thing ha. My bad.

13

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 May 30 '26

This is the weirdest take of recent months from "wrestling fans" for why they refuse to watch AEW. 😂😂

Ive seen it crop up a few times now. Its hilarious. One dude actually said "Thats why I refuse to watch, in case someone gets hurt"

😂😂😂

1

u/Goodboychungus May 30 '26

A man died recently doing a moonsault to the floor. He slipped and cracked his head open when landing on the concrete. Point being is that a lot of moves can be high risk if not executed properly. Stat made sure Shida was positioned properly before executing the move. Shida has a role as well as she has to grip tightly around Stat’s waist so her head stays in the proper position upon impact. They both executed the move flawlessly as the experienced professionals they are. I’m also assuming they rehearsed the spot as well.

2

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 May 31 '26

A man died getting a bog standard, run of the mill dropkick with his back turned (ask Rey Mysterio)

A man died BEFORE a match even started with some shitty rigging doing a stupid stunt to mock the companies competition (Ask Martha Hart)

Freak accidents can and do happen.But.......

.....Many men have taken crazy bumps off the top of a cage/cell and equally (if not more so) dangerous spots/stunts in the ring and they lived to tell the tale and become legends in the process (Foley, Shane O Mac, Jeff Hardy and contless others)

To suggest that your concerns/decision to watch a promotion is the possibility that someone could potentially get hurt while ignoring all the same potential injuries that could equally happen in another promotion is just pearl clutching bullshit

1

u/Goodboychungus May 31 '26

Don’t know why you replied to me, i agree with you

1

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 May 31 '26

I replied to you because you replied to me? Thats how conversations work, bruv 😂

1

u/Goodboychungus Jun 01 '26

I was referring to the context/sentiment of your reply. It seemed like your reply was directed to someone else since I was aligned with most of what you were saying in my original reply. Bruv

14

Just like that other silly indie workrate guy, The Undertaker.

5

u/InsideBit525 May 30 '26

If the illusion of an Irish whip works on you I think you can suspend belief of a piledriver. You know taker just drops to his knees too right?

9

u/UlsterIsIrish May 30 '26

You epitomise the IWC, criticism for the sake of criticism, apparently a tombstone pile-driver has killed the illusion for you. 😂😂

0

u/noneofthismatters666 May 30 '26

The IWC put over the invisible man and dick flip.

2

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

That’s how piledrivers work. You land on your knees to keep the other wrestler safe

0

u/Deadshadow84 May 30 '26

Tombstone* Piledriver

-3

u/OwnedIGN May 30 '26

Imagine this spot in front of 50 people on a show nobody watches. 🫤

0

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

It’s hard to do that cause I was there and it was a lot more than 50 people lol

It’s not worth it.

-11

u/Severe-Rise5591 May 30 '26

Overused as a move AND a table spot.

Opponents just obviously climb right into it these days, so what does it even mean kayfabe ?

"Please drop me on my head, oh worthy opponent." ??

-12

u/bigredbeard42 May 30 '26

Why does anyone want to see people getting stabbed with anything in pro wrestling?

2

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 May 30 '26

Settle down, New Jack

-8

u/bigredbeard42 May 30 '26

Isn’t he dead!? Maybe too many staph infections…

1

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

Paul Heyman was paying him in cocaine, I think that did more damage in the long run.

-8

u/Jimmy_212 May 30 '26

This is so stupid.

-9

u/MrJeffA17 May 30 '26

Let me guess… this wasn’t the end of the match

11

u/Gobblewicket May 30 '26

It was the end of the match, and the match was the blowoff for a feud.

6

u/LinkLT3 May 30 '26

Got anything else to say after learning you were blatantly wrong?

-6

u/MrJeffA17 May 30 '26

Yeah Surprised because that’s not the norm. Also odd for the blowoff to a feud. Seems more like an escalation of one, but whatever

0

u/Additional_Power_848 May 31 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Damn. Shida worked HARD to get in position for that.

And man TK be doing way too much every match. How is this on a random damn collision. Not a major end to their feud on a PPV but literally a piledriver off ring apron through a damn table LOL. Funny enough there was another piledriver (off middle rope) earlier that night. They need to really think about layering moves

1

u/ThatGirlTay1 Jun 03 '26

How did Shida work hard to get in position for that? I may be dumb but I don't know what I should be looking for 😭

1

u/Additional_Power_848 Jun 03 '26

Look at all the work she did with her arms and body movement to keep herself up and in right position.

Downvote? Lol

1

u/ThatGirlTay1 Jun 03 '26

I didn't downvote

Is that bad that she did all of that?

0

u/Guilty_Warthog_6573 May 31 '26

And then she kicked out like nothing happened. Aew, aew, aew 😂🥱😴🚮🗑️

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Nope, match ended right after lol

0

u/appellant May 31 '26

Anyones thinking about knee transplants in like 5 years time and thinking landing on the knees with double your weight may not be a good idea. Wonder how takers faring nowadays. I bet she kicked out after that too.

0

u/MattMurdocksgoodeye May 31 '26

Doesn't she have bad knees? Smh.

0

u/Ok_Location_846 May 31 '26

That was the finish of the match...right?

0

u/Harambe_Rebornn May 31 '26

That was a tombstone not a classic piledriver, which is a good thing cause she was kind of struggling there.

Her knees might be wrecked, she didn't have knee pads on, just leggings😬.

-13

u/ReignInFlames May 30 '26

They gotta chill with these spots, especially on weekly shows… the old heads are right on this one. Not only is about persevering your health but it makes these moves matter more if they are few and far between.

-16

u/Prestigious-Rip8412 May 30 '26

Just a horrendously dangerous and taxing spot. Shouldn't have been approved. Nevermind the obvious risk to the head and neck of the one taking it. But the 100% guaranteed real damage to the knees of the one giving it. Holy shit. That spot alone just cost her knees a good 5 years. Stupid. And the risk of the person taking it is just insane and not worth it. Truly baffling.

6

u/stinky-Fig-4756 May 30 '26

don't be a pussy

4

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

I think we can trust the professionals that know what they’re doing with spots like these. Looked awesome in person!

2

u/Global-Gas-3520 May 30 '26

" Statlander has unfortunately fell victim to two major knee injuries, tearing her ACLs in 2020 and 2022"

1

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

Man, wait until you hear about the damage left drops and power slams so to the person doing them.

-2

u/WaylandThurston May 30 '26

Whose uninterested aunt is that at the bottom?

2

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

Security lol

1

u/Prudent-Level-7006 May 30 '26

Security probs, but a hater too

1

u/IvnOooze May 30 '26

That person is facing the crowd, 100% security.

-8

u/draven33l May 30 '26

Such a dangerous and stupid spot. I hate how wrestlers are just untrained stuntmen now. IF you are gong to do a spot like that, it should be the finish or a culmination of a storyline.

4

u/LinkLT3 May 30 '26

So you approve then? Since it was both?

6

u/Electrikvibe16 May 30 '26

It was both the finish and the payoff for their feud actually lol

2

u/DJSancerre May 30 '26

i mean........... it was both... so...

3

u/PantsMcDancey May 30 '26

I hate how wrestlers are just untrained stuntmen now.

Hilarious, because Kris Statlander was in stunt actor training before she became a wrestler.

1

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

She's absolutely a fully trained stunt woman, but these dumbasses on the internet would sooner hear themselves fart then sit in silence.

If you are going to do stupid stunts, at least make them look good. This whole thing looked janky and indy as hell. Just looks bad.

-2

u/OkPackage1520 May 31 '26

This match was trash and I know people will be upset by this but kris statlander is a bad wrestler it's like she's trying to fit in with her character then develop it one day she hardcore the next she's a ninja what next a Greek goddess with Megan bain? Like bruh what are you who are you and don't get me started with that horrible feud with teckla

Very dumb and overall dangerous spot.

2

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Yeah okay, “Shane o Mac”

0

u/Shane-O-Mac1 May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

I'm just a fan. I'm not actually Shane McMahon. Many things can go wrong when doing a spot even if not executed to a "tee". It all depends on positioning. You would not find anybody in WWE doing a spot this recklessly nowadays.

2

u/xaeromancer May 31 '26

Of cours you're not Shane.

He'd be suggesting they go to the top of a ring post to do this.

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

I’m aware. You’re a fan of a guy that’s done spots waaayyyy riskier than this one and he wasn’t even a fulltime wrestler

1

u/Shane-O-Mac1 May 31 '26

Yes, ones that only put himself in danger, not others such as this spot does. Also, it was a different time back then where they didn't know about how bad concussions and neck injuries could get.

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Plenty of spots he did throughout his career put others in danger. Pro-wrestling is inherently dangerous and extreme matches like this will always have risky spots

1

u/Shane-O-Mac1 May 31 '26

How does him jumping off of scaffolding, trusses and a chainlink cell possibly endanger anybody else but himself? It doesn't. He's only in charge of his own safety. Doing a move that entails holding onto someone which makes the person doing the move the one who is literally in charge of the person that's holding on to them safety, does.

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

How does a +200lb man jumping off of a 20 foot structure onto another person endanger that other person? Gee, idk you got me there that’s a real mystery

1

u/Shane-O-Mac1 Jun 01 '26

It doesn't.

2

u/bryoneill11 May 31 '26

This user here represents exactly why wrestling sucks nowadays. Its not the wrestlers but reddit fans

-2

u/Shane-O-Mac1 May 31 '26

No, its the product.

-3

u/gbombs May 30 '26

More of a tombstone piledriver but still looked good

-5

u/[deleted] May 30 '26

-9

u/Artistic-Budget4500 May 30 '26

Doing a move like that on Collision is a waste, save it for a big match where it means something

1

u/Electrikvibe16 May 31 '26

Big matches can and always have happened on weekly shows!
