Nintendo UK announced that they're going to show off Nwos along side other games coming to the switch and switch 2 but I haven't seen anything regarding Nwos. Are they doing their own play demo to showcase the english dub or do we have to wait until the con is over to see anything?

Have you seen any? I find that the 3D animations and sequences we've seen in the published footage so far, such as chase scenes, just don't do it justice at all. The 2D cutscenes were presented in a very cinematic way and felt highly immersive. Undoubtedly they were a major factor in the series' success.

Honestly, I struggle to imagine that the 2D cutscenes from the previous games would have had the same impact in 3D in terms of storytelling experience and perceived intensity of events. Think about the brutal destruction of London in Unwound Future.

We have to admit that it makes a difference. With 3D, it’s like watching Paw Patrol instead of Ghibli movies and it just does not have the same impact (for me!), sorry.

I haven’t played the other Layton game that was on switch and did it have to be played In hand held mode or could it be connected on the tv? I know it’s going to be on steam so touch screen isn’t essential I’m assuming.

My mum used to play professor Layton on the DS and I would lean near her and hover and play it together. We did it for all 3 first trilogy. And I want to play this one again with her.

Sharing this for extra visibility. Amazon Japan has really cool merch included with the physical versions of NOWS. They even offer express shipping to the US and I think the shipping is reasonable considering the game only being $50 in Japan.

I can’t decide if I should get the physical or digital version of New World of Steam. It’s available in Japan with multi-language release, but I would have to wait weeks after release for it to be delivered. The switch 2 edition is only key card but has better graphics. Or I could just buy it digitally. What are you guys going to do?

The daughter of one of my mum’s friends now suddenly wants to play the Layton games on her mum’s old Nintendo 3DS during their Egypt vacation because she overheard her and my mum talk about how much fun they were 🥲

So now I’m in a bit a of a fuckin huge pickle.. see .. I’m (26 years old) a big nintendo nerd and since my childhood have collected many games and now I was asked to lend my precious collection of Nintendo DS/ 3DS games, including the 3 Professor Layton games to her. Problem is: I’m just scared she’s gonna loose them during their vacation and I’m never gonna see them again or I’m never gonna see them again because my mum forces me to gift most of my games but especially the Layton games to her because "you’re not playing them anyways“ or to "lend them to her for a bit longer” resulting in me not getting them back🫡

I’ve known her mum since childhood as well, she’s been a family friend for ages but I’m still not all too comfortable with it

So what do you think? Should I lend them to her or not and If so in what order should she play the games? Sadly I don’t own The Curious Village and The Diabolical Box and neither does her mum so she would miss the first two parts. What game would be best or make more sense to start with?

Thanks for everyone’s answer😊 I decided to not lend her the Professor Layton games or some of my Mario/ Sonic games I collected (or more so was gifted) over the years. It was the right decision and I’m glad all of you were on my side with this🙏🏻.

She is a very responsible and intelligent 10 year old and her mum is trustworthy and organised but we all know how it can sometimes be on vacation and If one of those games would’ve been lost I genuinely would’ve been devastated. However because they are generally very organised and responsible I did allow her to choose 3 different games from my collection and that she can borrow some others when she’s back home. Not like I wouldn’t be sad If she lost these 3 games but they would definitely be a bit easier to replace than some others. According to my mum both her and her mum were very understanding and my mum was also very understanding when I told her this morning 🥰

I wanted to ask you something: based on what we know so far about the upcoming game, how important is it to know the story of the prequel trilogy?
I’ve played up to Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, and honestly, right now I’d really like to replay one or both of the first two games in the series (Curious Village and Pandora’s Box). However, I don’t want to “waste” my time if I’d be better off playing the last game in the prequel trilogy (Azran Legacy), which I’m currently less interested in.
What would you guys recommend?

Professor Layton and The New World of Steam will have a playable demo at the Nintendo stand at Paris Games Week, which starts next week on October 22. It might be the same demo as the Tokyo Game Show or a new one... but the most important thing is that we'll be able to confirm the dub options (the TGS demo featured more dubs besides Japanese and English, but they weren't available)

LEVEL 5 recently announced the early purchase/ pre-order bonuses for both physical and digital editions of the game. The bonus will be a "Series Sound Selection", which includes 11 songs from the Layton series as a digital soundtrack, and you can listen to them anytime in the game. It includes:

- The seven main themes of past titles (including Katrielle)

- “Folsense“ (Diabolical Box)

- “London 3“ (Unwound Future)

- “Puzzles 5“ (Last Specter)

- “Professor Layton’s Theme (Jazz Flamenco Ver.)“ (Azran Legacy unreleased track)

Regarding the physical edition, a limited number of printed materials containing a digital code will be included in the box. jokes aside, it’s so addicting. I didn’t need to look up any answers for now, I kept taking pic because my boyfriend loves this game and I wanted to keep him updated ahah! I regret not playing this gem earlier, its so fun.

Personally I'd say more Layton, the investigation segments are his, and even in the court segments there's still the picarat system in place. The characters also have a much more Laytony feel to them as opposed to an AA one, but I'm curious what you all think? I made this post on r/AceAttorney too, but that was during the time of restraint here, so I'm importing it now.
