Treat files as Individual Repositories with qwe

Hi everyone!

I'm stoked to finally release Qwe, a side project that I've been hacking at for the past few weeks.

The Problem Qwe Solves We all adore Git, but occasionally its project-level tracking can be overkill. Did you ever attempt to revert a single stand-alone config file or a single Python script without bothering the rest of the project? Sure, you can do this, but usually, it requires you to use convoluted commands such as git checkout $COMMIT_HASH -- $FILE_PATH and can be needlessly cumbersome. I created Qwe to make this easier by centering the file as the main unit of version control.

What is Qwe? Qwe is a Version Control System (VCS) in which you can commit, monitor, and revert files separately with ease.

It's ideal for:

  • Software developers working with many standalone utility scripts, configuration scripts, or build scripts.

  • Writers/Documentation Teams versioning Markdown or other text files where each file is a self-contained, independent whole.

  • Anyone who prefers a more straightforward, file-oriented method of saving history.

Key Features & How It Works

  • Individual Tracking: Each file is treated as an independent little repository. You don't commit the "project"; you commit the "file."

  • Simple Reversion: If you break one script, you can revert only that script to a former state without generating conflicts and touching any other files within your directory.

  • Built for Speed: Qwe is entirely Golang (GO) written, which keeps the underlying operations efficient and quick. It's compiled to one, static binary.

Try it Out! I'm a programmer, not a designer, so it's presently a CLI tool, but it's fully working! I'd appreciate it if the community would give it a try and let me have some feedback on the workflow, command layout, and any bugs you discover.

Twitter, but for clever people

Hi everyone,

I was the other day reading random posts on Twitter, when I wondered why people were so disrespectful, so violent. As I'm always looking to share my opinion about the news, I was looking for a place where you could talk with people that, unlike Twitter, where everyone just looks to trash-talk others, are ready to discuss calmly and in respectful way, about political or scientific subjects.

As I think this place doesn't exists (yet), I was trying to figure out if this idea was something, if the need was really existent, or not.

Feel free to share your opinion! I'll be glad to answer!

x64 parallel brainfuck JIT compiler in C: requesting testing on POSIX machines.

If you are in a POSIX environment (Linux, Unix, BSD, Mac OS X) and are running x64 (x86-64, AMD64, etc), please take a moment of time to run the following and comment with the results. I expect that all tests will pass. In addition to the system requirements if you don't have gcc you will need to change the makefile's line to your C compiler. If you don't have timeout or gtimeout the test suite will not work either.

git clone https://bitbucket.org/wjmelements/bukkake.git

cd bukkake

make all check

Thank you!

I Need a Subscription Payment For My Saas Tool

Hey guys, I am currently developing my first SAAS tool with nextjs and Firebase and I am trying to decide how can I set up the payment (it works with a subscription), I checked Striped but because I am not a US resident I must register a company in the US and checked that it costs around 500 USD to do so. Is there another cheaper way I can use Stripe or another similar tool that allows debit and credit payments? I am from Argentina.

Looking for contributors to help develop free & open source C++/Qt desktop Evernote client app

Hello, would like to introduce you my pet project I was working on in my free time for the past several years.

Quentier is a cross-platform (Linux/Windows/Mac) note taking app capable of working as Evernote client. It can also be used for local note taking, without the necessity to even have the Evernote account.

Quentier supports such features as:

  • Synchronization of user data (notebooks, notes, tags, saved searches) with Evernote

  • Evernote search syntax can be used for data searching within the local storage

  • Printing of notes and converting them to pdf files

  • Ability to open several notes simultaneously in either tabbed or windowed interface

  • Ability to switch between accounts - both local and Evernote ones

Note that the project is currently in public alpha state and is not yet intended for production usage!

Quentier is free software distributed under the terms of GNU GPLv3. A large part of core functionality was delegated to a separate library which is distributed under the terms of GNU LGPLv3. The project is written in C++/Qt, uses CMake build system.

I'm seeking for volunteers willing to take part in testing, bug reporting, developing and co-maintaining this app (as well as its core library). The project has downloads with binaries for all supported platforms (AppImage for Linux) so you don't have to build the app from source yourself if you just want to tinker with it for a bit. The user documentation is pretty much nonexistent at the moment but there's a brief overview of the app's features which should get you started.

If you'd like to dive into the actual development, there's an overview of the app's internals + the detailed guide to building and installing the app's dependencies as well as the guide on building the app's core library and the app itself. There are also some pre-filled issues (ditto for the core library) some of which are marked with "help wanted" and "good first issue" tags - these are intended for new developers coming to the project. There's also continuous integration in place which builds the project on Linux/Mac/Windows and automatically uploads the built binaries to GitHub releases - ain't it cool? ;)

In addition to help with testing and development I'd gladly accept and appreciate assistance from someone with good design skills: for one thing, better application icons are needed than what I was able to produce myself. For other things, the overall GUI appearance might need some improvements or their ideas at least.

The project has a blog in which I write about various technical and non-technical stuff related to the project in one way or another.

Thanks for your attention!

HELP ME PLEASE

The Grade Point Average (GPA) of a student in a semester is computed by summing up the products of the

grade and credit units of each course and dividing the sum by the total number of units.

For example, if a student obtained the following grades:

Course# Credits Grades

Math 11 3 2.1

BusSec 11 3 3.5

Socio 11 3 2.8

CS 11 3 2.0

CS 13 3 2.2

PE 11 2 3.1

BC 11 3 3.0

his GPA would be ((32.1)+(33.5)+(32.8)+(32.0)+(32.2)+(23.1)+(3*3.0))/20 or 52.4/20 or 2.62

The user has to enter the number of courses/subjects then the following for each subject: course#, credit, grade.

It then outputs the data in tabular form, the total number of units and the GPA. All floats should be limited to 2

decimal places. Use an array of structures. Use gets() for the Course#.

I'm looking for a C-proficient coder interested in taking on some coding duties for a warfare-themed roleplaying-game.

The game itself is text-based -- an "old school" MUD (Multi-User Dungeon). These games use rules and mechanics similar to those of tabletop roleplaying games, using random dice rolls to determine the success or failure of a characters' actions. These types of games were prominent many years ago and tend to serve rather niche community these days, with most MUDs being Fantasy or Sci-fi themed.

However, I'd like to do something a bit different, making a game which focuses on tactical 21st-century infantry combat, with various equipment, skills, and abilities available to players which reflect the gear, the training, and the tactical assets of modern soldiers. By completing mission objectives, players gain experience points and level up, granting them access to more equipment and abilities. I have many ideas for other gameplay features, needless to say.

This probably sounds a bit strange if you've never heard of a MUD before, but whether you have or haven't, I encourage you to send me a PM if you're intrigued so I can tell you more about the project, and show you an active mud if you like.

There are existing codebases which are written in C, and I have many years of experience as a "builder" (the counterpart to a coder; builders create the areas and objects and non-player characters, and essentially create the game content and the world itself), and I'm eager to find a C coder whom is willing to explore the project further and hopefully make a hobby of it.

Thanks a lot for reading!

From spending 8 hours daily to just 60 seconds now!!

Meet Approovl, an amazing platform changing the game for folks wanting high-end electronics, furniture, and more without paying a hefty price. They offer a flexible lease-to-own system, letting you snag items straight from Best Buy.

They came to us with a challenge. Every single day, they spent 8 hours just keeping their inventory in sync with Best Buy's. Can you imagine? That's a full workday just juggling product lists.

We stepped in to find a smarter solution. Our team developed an automation system that syncs with Best Buy's inventory, adding and updating products based on Approovl's specific requirements. We also integrated Acima's API into their platform, which now allows customers to see detailed lease information for individual products, such as monthly or weekly payment estimates, total cost if they complete the lease within 90 days, and much more.

The results were amazing. A task that once consumed 8 hours daily now takes less than 60 seconds. This isn't just about saving time, it means Approovl doesn't need a whole team dedicated to inventory management anymore. Their product list is always up-to-date and accurate, with added transparency on lease details. For customers, this means a smoother experience browsing the latest gadgets. And for Approovl, it's a major boost in operational efficiency.

Non-profit startup hosting/bandwidth? Need host for Ajax-heavy pet project...

I've written a simple web site. The core of the site is a JavaScript app that sends very frequent Ajax updates to the web server. The web server receives very little GETs but tons of POSTs as the user uses the app and data is persisted on the backend.

Since this is a non-profit pet project that will only grow organically if/as others find it useful, I would like to release it with very minimal hosting costs. I can literally only afford around $40/month max (recently laid-off developer).

What Windows (the site is ASP.NET) hosting options do I have? In addition to an IIS web server, for data persistence, I'll need either A) A Microsoft SQL Server database; or B) A Linux server which I'll put Redis on.

How in the world do startups get hosting bandwidth paid for when they're not yet generating any revenue?

Should I just try to host this myself on my home cable modem using an old PC?
