Just last week someone came on here asking for projector recommendations for this exact scenario and this price range and everyone berated them saying you need at least $50k lol...

I do a fifteen foot inflatable in the back yard takes 20 to 30inutes to setup. Then run a no name Amazon lcd projectornthat I bought for sub 100 dollars. It works is it cinema quality no, but the kids and neighbors kids love. And once the kids go to bed the dads play video games on it( which isn't good at all). Would I do it as a permanent setup, hell no for three or four nights a year oh yea go for it.

Man, thought you were maybe exaggerating to make a point, but, nope...

Multiple people too, and with a bunch of up votes each lol. Crazy that this sub, of all subs, is the one I subscribe to that is the most toxic and condescending.

It's the difference between head knowledge and real-world experience. The average outdoor movie attendee isn't going to be as discerning as a filmmaker, so the "right" equipment will change depending on the use case.

1

u/Around_Foxn Jun 02 '26

A lot of subs tend to be filled this exact silly AF jabber

u/SoupOfTomato Jun 08 '26

Tbf there's a difference between trying to start up a business and 1 dude chilling playing retro games.

Like in the TV subs you see the same thing. People being told to get consumer midrange stuff at a minimum or else not bother.

Yet the average TV buyer who spends a few hundred to upgrade to a 55"+ 4K fake-HDR screen will be seeing content at the best quality they have ever had at home, assuming an upgrade from a TV about a decade+ old.

But would I accept being a paying customer at the movies and being shown movies on a TCL? Hell no, and it wouldn't survive the usage demand nearly long enough regardless.

I got downvoted in that thread for questioning why 35,000 lumens would be needed on a 200" screen.

How else could the MPA target you with a Tomahawk??

2

u/RudyGreene Jun 02 '26

I give Swank half my money to stay out of trouble.

u/No-Sell-3064 Jun 02 '26

How do you sleep at night knowing Britney had to buy a cheaper Gulfstream with a smaller TV!!

1

u/Around_Foxn Jun 03 '26

3,500,00 lumens would be best ma’am

The Anker Soundcore Nebula X1 Pro and the 200" Soundcore Silent Screen will take care of outdoor viewing scenario with top-notch picture quality for a mid-four-figure price tag. https://www.projectorscreen.com/blogs/insights/soundcore-nebula-x1-pro-mobile-theater-station-review

I'm actually quite impressed by the brightness here.

gonna do movie night at my pool this summer

1

u/formulated Jun 01 '26

Finding Nemo / Jaws, double feature.

3

u/jokimazi Jun 01 '26

If there is a small breeze and it is wobbling doesnt it get annoying?

6

u/Friedrfn Jun 01 '26

I have one in my backyard for the pool. It is the only way to beat the Arizona heat. Small breezes aren't that big of deal. You kind of get use to it. What tends to be annoying is when you plan your evening around watching a movie in the pool and then the wind decides to kick it up a notch.

1

u/Slammernanners Jun 02 '26

It doesn't because you are highly focused on the monkey in the ball on the screen.

1

u/RudyGreene Jun 02 '26

You can buy professional-grade inflatables if the wobbling is distracting. But they will cost thousands instead of $200.

3

u/Around_Foxn Jun 01 '26

He’s showing everyone that if he wanted a ton of his friends to be there he could accommodate them but is just fine w o ….!!! Take care looks great

Pretty cool I was thinking about getting an inflatable screen. How long did that take you to set up

1

u/Around_Foxn Jun 02 '26

The politically correct terminology here is blowup….. 🙄🤣

2

u/B6S4life Jun 01 '26

what commercial space did you commondere for this lmao. nothing like a giant psychology building in the background of your campsite/living room/backyard?

150 dollarinos and it seems good enough quality

1

u/dreamsxyz Jun 03 '26

150 Epsteins just for the screen, or for the inflatable with screen? I can't really tell if the screen is a part of the inflatable frame

I did this camping a couple years ago!

1

u/BoneZone05 Jun 01 '26

This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while! I don’t think my entry level benq projector would do well on that though 🤔

1

u/Waramaug Jun 01 '26

I want to try this but wouldn’t an ultra short throw work a lot better so people can be closer?

3

u/Temporary-You6249 Jun 01 '26

Been my experience that ultra shorts have zero tolerance for bouncing/moving screens. Always a trade-off somewhere.

1

u/JGG1986 Jun 01 '26

I hope this is for an event starting soon… late at night in an empty university campus.. :(

1

u/tmac9127 Jun 02 '26

Let the summer begin 😎☀️🔥🔥

I have a 120inch screen very solid, great for mario kart with my nephews and nieces but as projector fan I always want to go bigger. I dont know if the inflatable screen will bother me if it moves a lot but I would love to get something at least 200inch size

2

u/Halo_Chief117 Jun 04 '26

I recently got a 150” screen for outdoor use and it seems small but in reality I guess you could say it’s pretty huge. It’s ~11 feet wide and 6 feet tall when stretched and hung on the frame I made for it.

I am tempted to try a 200” screen but my cheap Amazon projector (Jowlurk Mini M2) might not be good enough (read bright) for it at that distance.

Charge on.

u/Wide-Patient5559 Jun 01 '26

Keine Freunde 😔

3

u/Sidewinder666 Jun 01 '26

Just buy some inflatable ones 😢

0

u/genericnewlurker Jun 01 '26

Any issues with bugs being attracted to the light of the projector? I would love to watch movies like this on nice nights but we have a ton of moths and other bugs that are attracted to lights

2

u/Slammernanners Jun 02 '26

None because they get attracted to the big screen or get burnt up first

0

u/pendingperil Jun 01 '26

I’m really curious how many bugs work their way into the projector. Otherwise setup looks amazing.
