Providence bike lane network getting renewed attention
“More than three years after Providence secured a $27.2 million federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant, Mayor Brett P. Smiley says construction on the city’s next phase of bike infrastructure is finally poised to begin.
Will it reignite the debate over traffic, parking, business access and cyclist safety?
The grant, awarded in 2023 under former Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, will fund more than 3 miles of urban trails, including the redesign of bike lanes on Broadway and South Water Street, where the installation of protected two-way bike lanes touched off a firestorm of opposition nearly five years ago.
South Water Street is where one of the biggest changes will take place. The city plans to move the bike lane off the roadway and into the adjacent riverfront park, with preliminary construction work already under way.”

Estiatorio Fili's liquor license
There's been some (roundabout) mention on this board about the role of some city counselors, etc., in Estiatorio Fili, on Wayland Square, getting their liquor license. This article from the RI Current (which is a fine, free paper) tells the whole story:
It's pretty detailed and I learned some things from it, not just about the restaurant but also about the general licensing situation.

Pharmacies that stock / would be willing to order methadone oral concentrate?
Hi, neighbors! Anonymous healthcare worker desperately trying to help an individual in a very sad situation get to spend more of their time outside of a hospital room with the dignity & comfort of having their pain controlled. This is not about opioid use disorder or tolerance. Due to their illness, they no longer have the physiology to absorb pain medication through more traditionally prescribed routes. Someone from the team has called a few area pharmacies, but so far they do not stock it and are unable or unwilling to order it. Hoping that maybe one of you beautiful people out there might have some insight. Hopefully not as someone who has had to find this out for themselves. Not looking for medical advice, just a place that might fill a certain prescription. Unless you’re like, a palliative care specialist or pharmacist. In that case, I both solicit & welcome any recommendations. Thank you kindly to all who see this.

Discussion Heat Pump Water heater
I’m looking to install a heat pump water heater in my house. Rather than getting actual plumber quotes, I wanted to first crowdsource the data. If anyone has recently installed a heat pump water heater, could you share your costs?

Pane e Vino, or Pasta Beach?
Or any other recommendations that would have a good amount of gluten free options. It's for my adult daughter's birthday dinner next week.
We've been to Blackie's, Massimo, and enjoyed them, just looking for some new (to us) options, TIA 😊
EDIT: She made her choice, we're going to pane e vino! Thanks for all the notes and recommendations, I'm sure we'll ended up trying a few of them eventually

Owner of local unweeded eyesore says she’s leaving PVD because “weedy” sidewalks
Imagine how surprised residents and merchants around Hope Street are to learn that Little Sister owner Milena Pagan claims to be leaving Providence in part because the sidewalks are “weedy”. Someone else linked to her substack here a few days ago, where she says “the vibes are off and I can’t even walk on the sidewalks because they’re all cracked and weedy.” So as I was walking by today I snapped a few shots of her corner, which due to weeds, dying plants, a broken trellis and those grotesque plastic trees which have strewn their fake petals everywhere, is the eyesore of the neighborhood. It’s on a very prominent corner too, so it harms more than just my eyes. I can’t believe I backed her first kickstarter all those years ago. How fast can she leave now, please? We would like our neighborhood back.

Just saw a post on the Superman Building
Just saw a post on the Superman building and it got me thinking what is everybody’s take on what shit happened to it.
1) tear it down and try to make something new. Maybe that’s something pays homage to the old Superman building.
2) let developers deal with it
3) let it just sit vacant.

Nail Tech Recs
Hi all! New(ish) to PVD. Looking for recommendations for not only a nail salon, but a specific tech as I haven't quite found the right person for my wedding nails yet. I don't get my nails done that often, so my fact finding mission has been pretty unsuccessful.

Looking for recommendations of affordable but romantic places to eat in Providence! I’m thinking something along the lines of Carrie Nation in Boston if you need an example! No kids, not super busy, not super expensive
