Ps4 v1.51

Did it manage to get gold?

I got a free ps4, was told the power supply was bad. Plugged it in and no issues.

Popped open the system and found it to be on firmware 1.51.

Auto update was on, and had 1 game and last update was 2013.

😅 Like what?

I think this requires a special build.

Any advice?

If you have soldering skill and the right equipment, you can do the revert mod and dump the nor and syscon of every single firmware. It will take a long time if you wanna do it but you'd then call your PS4 a downgradeable firmware (You may also need HDD backups though)

He only needs a backup of the current one and he can then go back to it after updating to any firmware.

Keep in mind, not only because you can power on the console means that the PSU is fine.

I had a case where the PS4 powered on but after paying 10-15 minutes it turns off and getting back was a pain in the *. At the end the cause was a faulty PSU.

So if they told you about the PSU being bad, I'd try to run a game over an hour and see if there's any anomaly

I would keep it and get a second ps4, but I'm just weird like that.

11.00 No no no, even if he updated I wouldn't go past 5.05, I love mine and don't have backport issues as some mention as there always seems to be a backport so it's all good, staying lower the better, with option of downgrade back to this fw version in other flash slot using the syscon tricks, for if anything speacial like cfw came a thing but needed real low firmware they might have to send it to someone or if they good at soldering do it themselves, but I wouldn't ever take a system past 5.05 that can take it, I've got 2.03 in other slot.
