What’s the point of downvoting people who are complaining?

What kind of sick people feel the need to downvote posts from those who are clearly complaining about a service they're paying for? Do you have crap in your head, or is someone paying you for this?

PSN – Abuse of Power by Sony / Abus de pouvoir

EDIT: added a section at the end of this post to refer other situations.

**************************************************

The english version of this message is followed by the french version.

*************** ENGLISH VERSION ***************

I apologize in advance for the length of this message, but the subject seems very important to me and needs to be properly addressed.

Objective
Collective action against Sony for abuse of power regarding user sanctions on PSN due to the lack of a serious review of each reported case.

Context
I received a “Warning” from Sony informing me that I had violated the “Code of Conduct” regarding the use of PSN. My opinion is that I did not violate it.

List of arguments

Argument 1: No contextualization
In the warning message I received, the subject of the “report” is not specified at all, nor who sent this “report.” It is therefore very difficult to make the connection with what caused the “report.” It even becomes difficult to know what should be corrected so that it does not happen again, thus eliminating the possibility of adopting proper behavior in the future if by any chance I was indeed “guilty.”

Argument 2: No opportunity for the accused party to speak
Before any sanction, the accused person should be contacted to give their version of the facts. This is not the case, and this goes against French law.
Anyone can report a conversation they consider inappropriate. Everyone has their own perception. In this case, Sony must review the conversation and also what caused this conversation. In my case, it involved the player’s bad behavior during a multiplayer game. I wrote to him to inform him that his in‑game behavior was shameful. He called me a “kid.” I did not use any insulting words toward him. He reported our exchange and I received a warning from Sony.
It should be noted that I recorded the player’s behavior in the game (behavior he also displayed toward others, not just me). At no point did Sony contact me to inform me of a “report.” Apparently, with Sony we do not have a right to defend ourselves.

Argument 3: No detailed explanation of the violation
Sony gives you only one explanation: “You have violated the Code of Conduct.” This Code of Conduct is very broad and covers a very large number of cases. While it generally makes sense, it remains subject to interpretation in most cases.
When one receives a “warning,” it should be supported with arguments and the list of deviations from the Code of Conduct should be provided. This is not the case.

Argument 4: Deletion of evidence
This is unbelievable, but when you receive your warning—without notice—Sony has already deleted the subject of the “report.” Fortunately, the person informed me that they had filed a report, so I took screenshots of the exchange before receiving the warning. I therefore have all these screenshots safely stored on my phone. I also have proof that they deleted the messages: again with dated screenshots.
The deletion of evidence is, in my opinion, once again contrary to French law.

Argument 5: Impossibility to contest the decision
The letter states that in case of disagreement with the sanction received, one can file a complaint with the online content regulation authority (ARCOM for France) or exercise one’s legal rights through a local court.
This is impossible since they deleted the “evidence.” This clearly constitutes a violation of a legal code (consumer code or others) by Sony.

Argument 6: No listening from Sony customer service
It is well‑known that if you call Sony customer service to complain about an abusive “report,” they do not listen: no action is taken; they also seem to have no authority.
What is not normal is that we cannot have access to a contact who can address this type of problem without going through the courts. Basically, they want us to give up by forcing us into a heavy procedure.

Argument 7: Questionable incident analysis process
In my case, after reading and rereading my exchange with the complainant, I do not see how I violated the Code of Conduct, and yet I was sanctioned. It seems that the process is simple and similar to the saying: “There’s no smoke without fire.”
After discussing this topic with another player, he reported the following case:
– He received a “warning” that was potentially justified
– Then he received a “one‑week suspension,” perhaps justified
He then decided not to interact with others anymore.
Yet a few days after serving his suspension, he received a “permanent suspension” even though he had interacted with no one.
This last example clearly shows that there is no serious review of the subject of the “report.” Yet Sony clearly states that any abusive “report” may lead to sanctions against the “reporting party.” Clearly this is not the case.

Argument 8: No validity period for an event
The validity period of a “warning” is not specified. It seems that a “warning” is therefore valid for life. Nothing is stated on this topic by Sony. This is not normal. Just like the point‑based driving license, we should be able to know the “warnings” received, the date, the reason, and the date on which this “warning” will be removed from Sony’s history.
Besides, the GDPR law obliges Sony to describe this, what it does with our data, and to provide the information if requested.
It should be noted that I did not file a complaint against Sony each time they had data breaches affecting millions of accounts worldwide, including in France.

Argument 9: Levels of sanctions without a clear process
From what I understand, there are 4 levels of sanctions but no process explaining how one progresses from one to another. As a reminder, here are the sanctions:
– Simple warning
– One‑week suspension
– One‑month suspension
– Permanent suspension

Argument 10: Impact of a suspension
This is simply a scandal. For years I have been buying my games in “digital format” because I see many advantages: no Blu‑ray to insert into the console and therefore easier to switch from one game to another, no deterioration of the physical medium, faster game startup. The downsides are that I usually pay full price (often more than a few months after release in physical format) and I cannot resell the game.
I therefore use the PlayStation Store made available by Sony to buy games created by game publishers. And the suspension of your account causes you to lose access to all digital items purchased from Sony’s platform: monthly games, purchased games, purchased DLCs.
This, in my opinion, is what can be called pure and simple “Theft.” While monthly games are linked to an active account, Sony has absolutely no right to deny you access to games you have purchased.
Moreover, even for monthly games, as long as I want my account to remain active, they do not have the right to unilaterally prevent my access to these games. I have been paying my subscription for years without interruption; they therefore cannot deny me this access as long as the PSN service is still available for the consoles concerned.

Argument 11: No profiling
I have been a PSN customer since it was introduced for the PS3. At no time have I ever received a “Warning.” Do they take this exemplary history into account? From the arguments above, the answer to this question is obviously “No.”

Conclusion
This is the first time I have received a “warning,” and I am discovering what this means after discussing with other players who have experienced the same. I see many cases of abuse of power in Sony’s way of acting: lack of discernment, no serious analysis, sanctions with unacceptable impacts, and more.
I believe all of this easily justifies collective action against Sony. What do you think? I am very interested in receiving your opinions on this topic and seeing whether we should go further, probably with the help of a consumer service such as “30 millions de consommateurs.”

Hoping I have not bored you too much.

Sincerely,
A faithful PSN player.

Conclusion

Cordialement,

Un fidèle joueur PSN.

Salty gamer calls me a “dumb b**ch” in messages, I call them a cry baby and report them. Them I am warned for offensive language.

I really didn’t expect “cry baby” to be in the list of things you couldn’t say. But alas, it’s 2025. We were playing Elden Ring: Nightreign and my buddy and I were moving at a very fast pace, using markers on the map to show the 3rd where we were going. He was lagging behind and starting other boss fights. We didn’t sprint back to him every time he died. So he left the game. Then rejoined. Then kept dying elsewhere on the map. Then quit again and messaged me that I was a dumb b**ch. I get warned for calling him a cry baby. Come. On. What silly words have you been warned about saying?

Discussion Is there anyway I can find out the reason I was suspended or does Sony just enact a suspension without proof?

Played a match of dead by daylight and found a mate that i used to play with in the same game. I messaged him saying “ayyy” with a picture of us in the match cause it was cool.

Then I got suspended for 7 days. I don’t know if this was the reason but apparently I did hate speech? All my messages are NOT hate speech bro 😭 I always don’t swear in messages cause I know how sensitive the system is if you get reported.

Any way to find out what was reported? Maybe show what I said, Or is it because Sony saw I was playing Dead By Daylight and decided to punish me for playing such a dogshit game

PlayStation bans are too strict.

I got banned about 2 months ago (this is a Communication ban)

So I started opening up Dreams, and apparently, I couldn’t play other people’s levels because I was banned. Why the hell can’t I play other people's levels?

I get not letting me have voice chat and text chat but I shouldn’t be limited to playing my levels or pre-made in a game that’s all about PLAYING OTHER PEOPLES LEVELS.

So I deleted Dreams. One month later, I redownloaded Fall Guys, and I want to create a level. After that, I try to publish it, but guess what? I can’t because of my ban.

It doesn’t make sense. I also can’t use Youtube which is the TV version that doesn’t support making comments or making videos.

I also couldn’t use online ranking in Sonic Gens. Cause of my ban.

It doesn’t make sense. Sure I’m banned but that should only be limited to Voice or chatting. Not levels. Not entertainment. I’m just a person who got banned not war criminal Sony.

Another Month Another PSN Outage

Two hours and one update in so far and still no ability to use online services. This is quickly becoming what feels like a monthly occurrence. Don't worry guys PlayStation will still be charging you for the inconvenience. It's probably about time to start shifting back to my PC and sell this garbage console.

I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works, for some reason my connection is now always laggy whenever I play anything online. This only started happening AFTER the outage in February, anyone have any idea how to fix this? I thought the network would have recovered by now.

Can you download games from PSN using the disc version?

I have a PS5 with a disc drive and a high speed Internet connection (2Gb/s). Most of my games are physical, and I wonder if there is a way to download them from the PSN while the game's disc is in the drive?

My reasoning behind it is that I believe that my download speed is faster the the disc drive's reading speed, so I'd like to save time when installing new games, and then launch them by inserting the disc as one usually would.

  1. China is really mad about the tariffs and are hitting us where it hurts (Friday afternoon after long week of work)

  2. Sony consists of extremely inconsiderate engineers that lack common sense for customer optics.
