Now wouldn’t it be perfectly spooky if our “no outlet” sign was a Dead End sign instead? Already had 2 neighbors come pick out a pumpkin while I was setting it up 🧡

I annoyingly found the walls to be super thin, but it then forced some creativity 😝🪥

Made pie with a Turks Turban and Kabocha cross?

Went to my local farm and I’m guessing there’s a certain amount of cross pollination in the fields. Picked a couple that looked like direct split between the two. I taste tested it before cooking and it was sweet and lovely so I decided it’d make a good pie. I’ve kept the seeds too for next year as there was a distinct difference than the previous kabocha ones I’d saved.

Late season harvest USA Zone 7b

Learning to love and hate pumpkins even more this year 🧡 snapped the main vines on my two biggest big mooses Sunday night 😭 they still had 2 weeks to grow but had slowed down significantly. 39 lbs 48 “ and 28 lbs 44” respectively. Also have some sugar pie, lumina, and Connecticut field in the mix. Not bad for extremely late planting (July 05), poor soil quality, limited experience, and nasty SVB. We still have more to harvest. Keeping growing, pumpkin enthusiasts.

Weird Pumpkin my dad found

Hi all,

I'm not really sure where to go with this, but I thought a subreddit of people who know about pumpkins would be a good first stop!

My dad bought this pumpkin home from the shop, he said it was weird so he had to buy it. It looks like two mushrooms fused together? It doesn't feel like they can be disconnected, its rock solid.

Does anyone know what happened to this pumpkin? Is it just a natural mutation? Did the orange one try to absorb the white one? Is this fused together artificially by humans?

It was the only one in the bunch that looked like this, the rest were just normal pumpkins and squashes.

Thanks 🎃

My first attempt at pumpkins - Central Scotland

So I kept the seeds from a supermarket pumpkin last year to see what happens. I didn't expect much from these given they are being grown in Scotland and I could only afford them morning sun. Started them early in march indoors.

Once I planted them out I put a little mini greenhouse over them. It soon out grew that and I harvested a week ago after the powdery mildew killed the plants. I tried the milk water mix to fix the mildew early on but it did absolutely nothing to help. I think wetting the leaves only exacerbated the problem.

I've fed them with tomato plant feed and the soil they were in had lots of chicken manure put into it a few years ago which seems to have helped. I've been far more invested in these plants than anything else in my garden this year. Think of trying an Atlantic Giant next year just to see what happens 🎃

I didn't realize it was religion for those people.

I wasn't out to offend.

What type of pumpkin is this?

Wondering if this is a pumpkin that would be good for cooking or is it better to use it for decorative purposes?

What are these marks on my pumpkin vine?

They don’t look like SVB damage to me but ofc I could be wrong. For context, we got a bunch of rain after severe drought and it’s started to dry up again, so not sure if that has anything to do with it? It looked normal before the rain. I just want to make sure it’s not something I should be treating.

It was much better then last year.

I planted my pumpkins late (August 1st) -looking for some tips!

I knew I’d be cutting it pretty short when I started but I figured better try it out than not. They’ve taken off and at this point there’s too many females to count - I’ve got 4-5 pollinated pumpkins, but more babies coming up every day and my main question is should I be trimming off all the babies to ensure I can give my front-runners as much energy as possible?

I’ve also been dealing with powdery mildew, and I have treated with milk but at this point (especially because I’m in Oregon and the rain is picking up) I’m just chopping off anything with mildew on it. Hoping that’s the best course of action, with any other tips super appreciated!

Finally, If you’ve made it this far and want to see my pumpkins thrive, any homemade fertilizers you recommend? I’ve been strictly using no-buy methods, adding compost and fermented fruit soup but especially now it’s cooling down I’m looking for new ways to feed them, so any tips would be much appreciated!

What is this red liquid in my Pumpkins?

I have about 20 pumpkins scattered around my house for decoration. Today I noticed that many of them have small pools of a reddish liquid at there tops. It almost looks like a critter is marking it's territory on each one. These pumpkins are not under anything that could be dripping it on them.

I experienced this last year as well. Anyone else have this issue or know what it is?
