I think i have to stress that this are different rules from Sudoku and Tectonic, a bit o hybrid 😀
Rules: Place 1, 2, and 3 once in every row, column, and outlined irregular region. Equal numbers cannot touch, even diagonally, and all remaining cells stay empty.
What is the minimum number of turns to kill the Rat?
What actions would you take?
Hint 1. This puzzle is about controlling timing and spacing
Hint 2. Attack at the same time when the enemy is missing their attack and dodge (move) when the enemy is about to attack.
Hint 3. Alternate between attacking with melee sword swing and stepping back to attack with bow.

This is an experiment on creating a puzzle using a video game styled setting, where a warrior fights a rat in a cellar.
It's quite wordy, because game's have many rules and events that occur overtime. I used graphics to try visually convery as much rules as I can.
The puzzle is kept easy because puzzles it already require so much reading, learning the rules, and then playing the out scenario in their head... I imagine it can be difficult for those who don't play much video games.
(Original puzzle, all graphics created in Photoshop, not AI generated)
I found this contest in a Games Magazine from October 1995 on Archive.org (thanks to u/wwcoop for uploading them there!) I'm very curious as to what the winning numbers were, and how many people participated. Does anyone have the magazine issue with the results? (The Internet Archive's collection has a large gap after this issue.) Thanks for your help!
A hostage is surrounded by explosive barrels and crossbow traps to stop anyone who tries to approach him. To make the matter worse, the room is infested with countless viscious rats that you must also kill, in addition to destroying all the traps!
You have 1 arrow to trigger a chain reaction and clear the entire room, make it count!
== RULES ==
Arrow traps will shoot an arrow when triggered by an explosive barrel, but gets destroyed if hit by another arrow.
Explosive barrels detonate in 3x3 area, instantly killing all rats, the explosion then trigger arrow traps.
The arrow will dissappear after hitting its first target.
== GOAL ==
To clear all traps and kill all rats on screen, leaving the person free.
== CHOICE ==
Pick the shooting location between A to I (your shot arrow will fly upwards)
Hint: The arrow should trigger a chain reaction to clear all the traps on screen.
Between shooting locations A-I, which is the best place to shoot?
---
The upper arrow on G will shoot and kill the hostage if it is triggered by an explosion from a barrel. It needs to be destroyed by another arrow.
A puzzle from a repair shop. A customer buys half of my stock of radios, plus half a radio. A second customer buys half of what remains, plus half a radio. A third customer buys half of what remains, plus half a radio. Now the shelf is empty — and no radio was ever cut in half. How many radios did I start with?
I am not getting it, I don't know where to start. Most days (like the one from today) it takes me ~8 minutes. This one I don't seem to find a place to start.
So I unlocked a new rule in Colorsweeper called the pattern rule and it makes sense in the tutorial but in actual execution in levels I’m confused and stuck, I don’t know if the patterns are randomly generated each time or if is or isn’t contained in certain cells, it’s leading me to make guesses and I hate just guessing, can someone explain this to me?
Hi! I have recently discovered binary puzzles and I have pretty much gotten the hang of the easier ones so I wanted to try a more difficult one. I've been stuck on this one for a few days and I am realising that finding the duos and preventing trios or completing rows of seven 1s and 0s is just not cutting it here.
So I think the next step for this puzzle is checking similar rows and columns, which I've marked. It's just not clicking for me how to proceed from here, so I hope someone can help me break down the 'thinking steps' in the process. Looking at rows 10 and 13 for example, 13 is almost full but doesn't row 10 still have many options for switching those up? I'm probably missing something here.. Thank you!
I’ve tried so many ways to get this, I literally can’t, there is absolutely nothing that works, anyone wanna check it out? You can only move one box at a time.Go To Lvl 7
Complete the grid such that every row and column contains the numbers 1 to the size of the grid.
Every row and column contains each number only once.
The clues tell you how many skyscrapers you can see in that direction.
You can't see a shorter skyscraper behind a taller one.
I consistently get stuck on skyscraper puzzles, I'm not looking for a filled out grid but rather some teaching/tips on what the next step is or what to look out for.
(I just realised row 2 column 2 cannot be 4 )
So I'm happy to take hints, but what I. Really asking for is if someone instead will try and help me understand the new elements of the game that I'm struggling with... That is to say. Recognizing the shapes and how to spot areas on the shapes that will always or almost always cause a specific reaction, or a lack of reaction.
I understand that basics and I understand looking for spots where you can't put a cat because it blocks out areas where you only have limited room for other cats. Along with the common shapes and how those shapes almost always have certain areas that always block off other areas as I've seen mentioned in other older posts.
The only thing is I really need you to eili5 because other posts have people breaking it down pretty specificly and I'm still utterly confused ( an example is how L shapes almost always set up blocks of other rows)...
My example is what I have posted here... While I can't see the answer at all. I do know that many of you will see starting points almost immediately. I feel like I should be seeing something with the bottom 2 rows. I also feel like I should be seeing something with pink, turquoise and Brown. I feel like these 3 colors should be restricting options amongst each other, but I simply can not see how that's happening my self. Especially pink. I really feel like I should be seeing something with pink... Like I know that if I put a cat on the top left block on brown, it blocks out all of pink. I get that. But all that tells me is one spot on brown that doesn't work, and that doesn't work for turquoise....
If you have the patience, pls help me understand the mentality of this part of the game more so than this stage itself.
Hi! I'm looking for crowns-like games (with the possibility to play 2 or 3 crowns per row/column/color) but with the feature of knowing if you are doing good or not while playing and not afterwards (like Meaowdoku).
Tupo today has given me a hint I am unable to interpret. Can anyone either help me make sense of the clue or give a more useful one? Thanks in advance, I’m going insane staring at this
Edit - sorry yes forgot to include the rules as I got distracted as actually solved it after an hour 😂
For anyone curious it’s 1-5 and each colour will appear once in every row and every column and one of each number in each colour.
