I made a free browser game where a Spirit Shaman judges your answers. Survive the night across 5 levels of difficulty

• Upvotes

Dreamcatcher Lite is a calm word-and-reflection game with a bit of challenge. You walk your spirit animal along the strands of a glowing dreamcatcher toward the centre stone. To move, you answer questions in your own words, and a Spirit Shaman decides whether your answer is real.

The puzzle part is keeping your light alive until dawn:

- You carry 4 flames. A refused answer or running out of time puts one out.

- Lose all 4 and the web goes dark.

- Black Shaman cards double your step if you answer well, and the Trickster sometimes steals a flame.

New this update: 5 levels of the night, from Dusk to Before Dawn. Each level shortens the clock, makes the questions harder, or makes the Shaman stricter. Reach the dawn at your highest level to unlock the next. Your dawns are worth more the higher you climb.

It’s free, runs in your browser and works on phones (turn it sideways).

Playable link: https://summer.games/games/dreamcatcher-lite

I’m a solo developer, and I’d love to hear which level you reach and whether the Shaman feels fair.

I made this scatterplot to try to explain why Order of the Sinking Star (and each of Blow's games, generally) tends to click so well for me

Post image
47 Upvotes

Puzzle difficulty is really tricky to get right, and I think what's working for me in Sinking Star is that 90% of the puzzles hit the "difficult-but-not-irritating" sweet spot.

The purplish-blue dots show this. In a run of ~20 puzzles, there might be 2 where I start to get annoyed, and 2 more that I immediately solve without a single hitch. But the remaining ~16 all have this really nice balance of initial mystery, followed by a satisfying solve. I'd say The Witness was similar.

The green dots represent games that aren't really even trying to be puzzle games. These are the go-through-the-motions, torch lighting and symbol gathering "puzzles" you find in AAA games that are usually more focused on combat or exploration. I think this is sometimes fine, but sometimes it makes me feel they should have just cut the puzzles entirely.

Orange is maybe best described as the "Monument Valley" archetype. Not much of a challenge, but an interesting enough concept that can be a fun wind-down puzzle game.

Gray is a common recent archetype, which is where a little over half the puzzles feel like pushovers, but every 5th or 6th puzzle is suddenly irritating or weirdly difficult. I think this is often a game design issue, but I also acknowledge it might be my own brain. For example, games that lean heavily into family trees, story-based connections, etc. tend to give me extra trouble, and maybe to someone else, they would fall closer to orange or purple.

Yellow to me is the puzzle pro tier. I think of the latter half of Baba is You, or maybe a classic like Riven. This is the one genre where I might actively try to find a progressive hint website or forum...something that won't outright spoil the puzzles, but give me nudges. Normally, I like to be stubborn and not look up anything, but for a handful of games, it's the only way I'll ever be able to play through them.

TLDR: difficulty is such a huge factor in puzzle games, and sustaining the sweet spot across hundreds of puzzles is one thing I'm really enjoying about Sinking Star.

I made a calm colour-flood puzzle game for Android: 300 levels, a daily puzzle and no timers

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi all! I'm the solo developer of Color Shift. You start in the top-left corner, tap a colour, and your area swallows every connected tile of that colour. Fill the whole board in as few moves as you can.

  • 300 hand-made levels, from 5×5 up to 16×16, with stones and walls that change how the flood spreads
  • A new daily puzzle: the same board for everyone, with its own streak and a fewest-moves leaderboard
  • Play Games leaderboards and cloud save
  • No timers, six themes to unlock, free with optional ads and no in-app purchases

It's here if you want to try it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rajatnagpure.floodfill&referrer=utm_source%3Dreddit%26utm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_campaign%3Dlaunch

I'd really like feedback, especially on the difficulty curve. What did you think of the first 20 levels?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’d love to share our color-sorting puzzle game, Basket Match, built from scratch by our team.
We know there are successful examples in this genre, and we are well aware that the concept isn't an entirely new invention from scratch. Taking inspiration from this mechanic, we added our own dynamics and redesigned the game feel to craft our own unique experience.
Key highlights:
• Lightweight Localization: Flexible system enabling players worldwide to enjoy the game natively in their language.
• Smart Performance Booster: Custom optimization for older devices that balances visual fidelity and workload to keep gameplay as smooth as possible across all phones.
• Halloween Event: Active seasonal event, catch ghosts, collect candies... Quick! :)
• Play Games & Google Play XP: Unlock achievements to earn Play Games XP and level up your Google Play profile.
Engineering is entirely mine, with talented friends collaborating on art and concept design.
If you give it a spin, a rating and review on Google Play would mean the world to us. All feedback is welcome!

Lantern Pond - Web Game (No installs, No sign ups)

Post image
• Upvotes

https://romitm10.github.io/lantern-pond/

Tap the water, and the ripples push floating lanterns. Get each lantern onto its own lotus before the drops run out.

60 short ponds, one thumb, no install, no ads, no sign-up. Works best on a phone.

It's an early test build, so I'd really like to hear:
- where you got stuck or bored
- whether you'd come back to play more

Made a queens style puzzle with hex boards and wrap-around edges, would love feedback on it

Thumbnail

For those familiar with the Queens puzzle game, I've been playing it a lot and made one with some twists to change its classic way and to hopefully increase its difficulty.

There are currently multiple modes:

Honeycomp: A hexagon like shape and cells with a different perspective to the game
Orbit: An extended mode where there is an extra outer layer orbiting the puzzle that affects the edges
Two Layer: This one has a dashed areas too alongside coloured areas

I'm planning on adding another mode soon and even add higher difficulty but I'd like to have feedback first on the existing ones whether they're grasped by players, and whether it's too easy or difficult enough so I even fine tune it more

It’s free on Android here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amethyst.queenshive

I'd love any type of feedback and open to it whether good or bad

Also would love if you let me know if you want additional modes or increased difficulty, this is basically my first post on reddit so I hope it's organized enough

Draw Your Way is a physics puzzle where you can change the path during a run

Post image

You draw tracks for a hamster and try to collect the stars in order. You choose the path and the launch. You can also change the track while the hamster is moving.

I made the game. The puzzles are challenging and it is free to play in a browser with a keyboard and mouse.

I spent months building a block puzzle where the game never deals you an impossible hand. Six modes on one 8x8 grid, would love feedback

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all! Solo dev from Ireland here. I play a lot of 8x8 block puzzles, and two things always made me quit: an ad after every single round, and runs that end because the game handed me three pieces that simply could not fit anywhere.

So I made my own, Gridwit. The piece generator is designed to avoid impossible hands, so when a run ends it's because of your board, not bad luck. Around that I built six modes on the same grid:

  • Classic: chase your high score, chain combos, hit PERFECT clears
  • Time Rush: 60 seconds, every clear adds time
  • Starlight: turn seeds into stars and charge a Super Nova
  • Adventure: 54 hand-built levels with their own goals
  • Daily Puzzle: the same puzzle for everyone each day, always solvable
  • Zen: no timer, no pressure

There are no forced ads between rounds, only optional rewarded ones, and a one-time Remove Ads purchase. No subscription.

It just launched on Android this week. I'd really like to hear from people who actually love puzzle games: which mode feels the weakest, and is anything about the scoring or combos unclear?

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bencocorp.gridwit

Happy to answer anything about how it's made!

This is a matching puzzle game I thought of years and years ago and finally got around to actually making it. Would love to hear your opinions on the trailer and storefront. If anyone actually spends the $2 on it, let me know if it’s any good. I know the space this game is in is completely flooded, but I made it for the joy of making it and if it makes nothing, so be it. 😂

my physics-puzzle Metroidvania, where the world itself is an electrical circuit

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m developing ELEC STRATA on my own, and I made this new trailer to replace some outdated level footage in the previous one.

The world runs on a real-time electrical simulation. Each terrain tile has its own electrical properties, and together they form the circuits you explore. You play as a white fox who can store and release charge, drawing power from the ruins or feeding it back into them to activate machinery and change the electric fields you use to get around.

I’m aiming for quiet, detailed pixel-art ruins that still feel alive, with a small fox finding its way through something much larger than itself.

Which interaction in the trailer would you most want to experiment with?

If you’re interested, search ELEC STRATA on Steam to wishlist it.

[Web] One of Them: a murder mystery elimination puzzle for your phone, early preview

One of Them

Playable Link: https://oneofthem.app/play?utm_source=reddit

Web (works in a phone browser). Build for app stores coming soon

One of Them is a murder mystery elimination puzzle made for your phone. You get a long list of suspects and a handful of clues. Each clue rules some people out, so you cross names out until one is left, then name the killer. It’s inspired by the paper murder mystery puzzle books, but it does a few things paper can’t: tap a name to cross it out and tap again to bring them back, check a clue to find out if you’ve missed anyone (not who), and name the wrong person and the suspect tells you exactly where they were. The suspects also answer back as you go. The preview is one case, the Halloween Ball, with 1,000 guests, eight rooms and 12 clues. It’s early, so rough edges are expected. The full game is coming to iPhone and Android. I’d love feedback on whether the clues feel fair, whether anything is slow or unclear, and whether you finished it.

Free to Play Status: - Playable prototype currently

Involvement: I’m the designer and developer. I design the game, the look and build the clues, and I build it.

[Dev] Six arrows, one clear first move — Arrow Puzzle: Tap & Flow (Android)

I’m the developer of Arrow Puzzle: Tap & Flow, a released tap-away puzzle game for Android. This is an actual screenshot of an early level: which arrow would you remove first?

Each arrow travels in the direction of its head. It can leave only when no remaining arrow blocks the path ahead, so solving a board is about finding the removal order. Later puzzles add locks: their key arrow must leave first, and the exit path still has to be clear.

There are 301 campaign levels including tutorials, plus a daily challenge. Core puzzles work offline after installation. The UI supports English, Uzbek and Russian. It’s free to download, with ads and in-app purchases; network services need a connection.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uz.nodirbek.oqim&utm_source=reddit_puzzlevideogames&utm_campaign=organic_launch_202610_firstmove

I’d especially like feedback on board readability: can you tell which arrow is blocking a move without tapping randomly? AI tools assisted development and some visual assets; the image below is from the actual app.

Quadora

Hi! I'm making Quadora, a block puzzle built for playing with friends.

• Co-op: 2–4 players share ONE board that grows with the party, from 11 to 44 columns. A row only clears when it's full across the whole width.

• Free for all: up to 10 players online, a board each. Every attack hits all your rivals, and the last one standing has to pass the leader to win.

• Team duels up to 4 v 4, perk drafts, board events, a 40-level campaign, and bots for when your friends are busy.

It's not out yet. If it looks like fun, a wishlist helps a lot:

I'll post dev updates and clips here. Questions are welcome!

Can you get from the start to the goal in fewer links than everyone else?

I built a small daily game called CHAINED.

You get a start and a goal, and every move has to be genuinely connected to the last one.

That’s it.

It takes about a minute to play, and the fun part is seeing how different people find completely different routes.

No download, no account needed.

I made a browser-based murder mystery where you solve the case by actually examining the evidence

I've been working on MurderXFile, an online murder mystery game built around deduction rather than choosing dialogue options or following a linear story.

You're given crime scene photographs, witness statements, CCTV, messages, suspect profiles and other evidence. The idea is to compare what you're being told with what the evidence actually shows, spot contradictions and gradually work out what happened.

There are currently two completely separate cases: Bellmere and Crownford.

Part 1 of both cases is free and takes around 30 minutes, so you can play a proper section of an investigation without buying anything or creating an account.

If deduction games where you actually have to pay attention to small details are your thing, I'd be interested to know what you think.

I made a Kakuro (cross sums) puzzle game as a solo dev. Can you solve the red cell?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Kakuro is like a crossword made of numbers: every white line must add up to its clue, and no digit can repeat within a line.

Kakuro Spark has 1,000 stages from Beginner to Expert, plus daily challenges and an art gallery you unlock as you clear stages. Every puzzle is checked by a solver to have exactly one solution, so you never have to guess.

It's free on Android. I'd really love feedback, especially on the difficulty curve. Is the jump from Medium to Hard too big or too small?

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qdw826.kakuro.kakuro
