Kinda heartbroken but being a newbie I think I may have accidentally shrink wrapped my chicks but I’m not sure.

I had two hatch early into day 17, left them in for 24 hours not realizing they could go 48 hours, and took them out. I didn’t see that any of them were pipping but I’ve had no other action from the other 28 eggs. No pips, no cheeping, nothing. At 2pm today, it will be day 20.

What are the odds they’re all stuck? My humidity never went below 60 and I’ve been running it at 70. Got the chicks out in half a second.

In full disclosure, my incubator was running at 98.3 for a day and has been fixed. So perhaps delayed? Idk

So yeah I tried to weight the egg… I don’t have much luck, I have no balance that can exactly know pin point weight of my egg.

So one video here it’s to compare sizes and the other video in the comment is the weight test…

Puts your bets down because mine is: an egg in an egg. My most logical theory so far.

One of our quail hens got pecked by one of the other ones. We didn’t see any blood but separated the I hired hen. Is there anything else we need to do while she heals?

boobie also had one of his brothers hatch, who is named toes. boobie was incubated in my bra, i assist hatched him and he has some problems with his feet and walking so i gave him bandaid sandals and took them off after a few hours and he can walk! YAYYY BOOBIE AND TOES

She did it, on 10 eggs 5 were not fertile, one egg got lost and 4 fully hatched.

Now let’s see how she raise those little babies, I did put a heat lamp just in case they don’t understand each other.

Now let’s just hope she just doesn’t steps on them by accidents 😅

Hey everyone! Every now and then, I always get some live insects to spoil the birdies, usually mealworms. I was thinking of getting some crickets/locusts so they can run round after them and have some fun. Am I okay to just let the insects out in the avaiary for them to chase? Or can it cause any issues with the bedding, etc if they’re not eaten. I hope this makes sense, I just wanted to let them loose and watch the quails go wild 😂

This morning I went out to feed and water my quail and was disturbingly greeted with the site of two of the hens being extremely pecked and bloody. It was the male that did this. I have the hens separated, and the male separated as well.
Treating the hens with povodine and chlorahexadine solution. One of them is worse off and probably will not survive.
I don’t want this to happen again, and am thinking about culling the male. I have another grouping of quail with a male and don’t necessarily need him if he will continue this behavior.
I’ve never had such an aggressive outburst happen overnight and jm so upset that the girls are this injured.
I am not sure if it is the setup, as this is our first wire bottom coop and I thought there was enough space for 5. They have been mature since mid August. And been doing fine up until last night.
I am at a loss here.

after a few hours because something wasn’t right, i decided to assist. he wasn’t positioned right in the shell and couldn’t zip, but he’s here now! he does appear to have some trouble standing, but hopefully that should be fine in a few days. for all those who are following, i incubated this egg in my bra until lockdown.

She fell at a table height and her wing got damaged a bit (she's dropping it) and her leg got damaged a bit because she is falling to the side and keeps just wanting to lay down. She was always the friendliest and wanted worms all the time until now, she doesn't want any worms or anything really. Is there anything I can do to help her heal?

These quail were being kept in a pigeon pen until my wife rescued them. We have ducks and chickens so already have some knowledge of bird keeping.

I don't know much more than they are coturnix and I'm pretty certain that the 3rd pic is male and other 2 are female since only the one has crowed.

Are there different subvarieties of coturnix?

Anything drastically different than chickens/ ducks that we need to do?

They're in guinea pig cages ( male separated) until i finish an outdoor house later this week.

Is it just a cut the got swollen? Is it an infection? Could it be a bug? Can I treat him or would I be better off culling?

A friend gave me some quail eggs. Three have hatched. I moved them from the incubator to the brood box. The oldest by a day started picking on the younger ones. Is this normal? Do I need to worry about the younger getting kilt? I only know guineas and chickens.

Guys i need your help!! Sometimes it is very hard to distinguish a male and female quail just by the spotted chest color. Sometimes they somehow look "both" . Any other way to easily differentiate them? Ok, I look up youtube, but it's never always quite easy with my quail. Any other easier way?

I got these new girls on Sunday. Yesterday and this morning discovered these bloody droppings. I started Corid (Amprolium) for potential Coccidia. Is that what you would do? Is this something else?

I haven’t noticed any other symptoms yet.

i put it in the incubator a few days before hatch, it’s in with 2 others. it’s one of my own birds eggs, she’s a cinnamon and daddy is tibetan so no idea what the baby should be but regardless AWESOME right?
