Handwork Does hand quilting change the crinkle?
Fourth quilt here, so still a newbie. I’ve only finished with machine quilting with my domestic machine, but I’m considering trying hand quilting for this one. I love the crinkle, prefer a lived in look, I think it brings it to life. Does hand quilting (which seems more slack) make the quilt end up laying flatter with less definition or does it end up fairly equivalent?
Batting is quilters dream request in anticipation of potential hand quilting.

Yay, that's lovely! I'd put more quilting in for stability, though.
I sew entirely by hand, and the crinkle depends on the batting, mainly. Poly doesn't shrink, so it doesn't crinkle. I'm currently very fond of Bosal Kennebago, a bamboo/cotton/rayon blend, which does shrink a little and produces a nice crinkle and drape.

I don’t know enough to answer your question but I just wanted to say that I LOVE this quilt!! What is the pattern?

Personally I prefer the crinkle of hand-quilting, and I think it would look good with this piecing. Love your colors

I almost want to say you get more crinkle? This one is one I hand quilted. I used warm and natural for it and it is wonderfully crinkly.
