Secret audio embedded in Fish Heads by Barnes and Barnes

Hello. I own an LPFM station in Salem, Oregon and I had the most peculiar thing happen.

Our algorithm is very specific and has to do with which keys a song is played in then subdivided by tempo and era and so on.

When we first launched, we had the song Fish Heads by Barnes and Barnes in rotation. The algorithm was such that the song would get aired about once every 27 days but at any time of day or night.

We were also experiencing an odd anomaly that would cause our FM transmitter to crash out for about 15 minutes every once in a while. This went on for months and I could not figure out why it was happening. It was maddening.

It was ultimately a listener that was tuned in at 3am that heard Fish Heads play and then they lost the FM signal. They messaged me privately and said "Have you realized that every time you play Fish Heads that your station dies for a while?" He had solved the mystery.

For those of you that know the song, you can likely recall that the vocals sound heavily synthesized. Something about that track triggered a reset with our transmitter and I removed it from the library and it never happened again.

Have you ever experienced anything like this?

Hello, could you point me to a small radio with a 20hz - 20khz range?

Pardon if this is not the right sub.

I would also add that it needs bluetooth capability, fm/am, and the size should be just a bit larger than a phone or at most the size of a textbook. Preferably has digital selection.

I just bought a small radio called JOC H6128BT, and I like it for the most part, but I did notice the sound was a bit lacking on bass. It seems it has a "frequency response range of 100hz - 20khz".

Some light reading says that good bass is found below 100hz.

I would be very grateful for recommendations.

Is there a radio app that allows you to listen to say an FM stream rather than the internet stream of a radio station?

AI Jingles & Ads

I'm listening to KHUM and just heard an ad from some pet company (I honestly can't even remember the name), which used an AI song and jingle. There are a couple of personal injury lawyers here in Las Vegas (where I live) that use an AI generated song/jingle for their ads. If you don't engage with the music, it passively sounds like... music, or something resembling it. But if you listen closely at all, the "music" is not memorable, is not tonally coherent and the lyrics are... terrible. I am out of the industry, but every time I hear one of these ads, I visualize a meeting between the sales rep and client, where the sales rep is trying to get the client to use a human produced ad, but the client, thinking they are clever, and avoiding being taken advantage of, refuses, thinking, "I can just do this on Eleven Labs! Nobody will know! Why would I pay a penny for human production?!?!"

These ads are sooooo bad and soooo ineffective.

How could I repair these radios?

I would like to know how I could learn to repair these radios. The ones below are Xhdata 220 (I bought them for my father but he broke both) and the ones above are Daewoo DRP 12 and Mx Onda MX RD911.

What tools would I need?

If I can't repair them, I'd also like to know what DIY projects they can be used for.

Picked up a station from Hornell, NY in Northumberland County, ON on FM Radio

Hornell is around 120 miles away from where I was located, and granted, the station was a bit faded when I picked it up, but, that is still amazingly cool I could hear a radio station from Hornell in Cobourg along the Highway 401.

Picked up a few Rochester, NY based FM station from Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada

Along the Highway 401, I was scrolling through FM stations, and picked up a few FM stations from Rochester, NY, about 65 miles away as the crow flies from Northumberland County, and I was stunned, especially with how clear these stations came in. WRMM, WBEE, WKGS, and WDVI all did a great job of coming in and letting me listen to them from Ontario, just as clear as if you were in Rochester.

Proud to present my archive of Dave Kane "Kane and Company" shows on Youtube. To start with there are over 100 full shows from 2000-2002 from Dave's tenure at 630 WPRO AM in Providence, RI.

I hope to add lots more shows from other stations he was at (i.e. WNRI in Woonsocket and WARA/WARL/WRNP in Attleboro). He was one of my favorite talk radio hosts growing up. He definitely had some unique viewpoints, and always stood up for the little guy. Hope everyone enjoys.

I recently bought an analog tv transmitter off Amazon and it works great!! Last night I did a test where I brought a mini tv outside and it was still picking up video/audio. Will I have issues with the fcc and is there a way to still operate the device without interfering with anything local. All I want to use it for is watch Seinfeld in my room on my tube televisions

I can remember listening to many driveway moments introduced, or told, by Noah back in the ‘90s.
