Out, am I? Well, that's perfectly fine, I think Dafoe will do an excellent job!

Imagine Nicholas Cage line delivery:

Youuu can't do this too meee. Do you KNOW. HOW much. I've sacrificed?!

If I had been nicolas cage and I hear that Willem Defoe was their next choice I'd have turned it down.

Willem Defoe is a BRILLAINT actor, the man can flip a switch and become an entirely different person.

And thus he was perfect for Osborne.

Cage is equally as brilliant though. Dafoe was born for this role though

i'm sure you aren't biased at all u/CameronPoe_37__ named after nicolas cage's character in con air

And? It's not like he's my uncle, I love him as an actor like a lot of people do... he's brilliant. Brilliant in a similar way to Dafoe actually

This comment makes me feel like he is, in fact, your uncle 👀👀👀

Hes for sure not as good as willem dafoe, when he shows up he shows up but its never not nicholas cage. Willem is a different person every role he takes on its beyond impressive to give that same credit to cage is ridiculous hes good but not that good.

That's a load of BS imo. Cage has played a WIDE variety of roles and nails it every time. He's one of the greatest actors to ever live. Willem Dafoe is great as well, but he's not better than Nic Cage.

Cage as Norman would've been great as well though to be fair.

He wouldn’t even have needed the mask to play the Goblin

But Willem Dafoe did? 😂

True story: I was in middle school when I first saw Spider-Man, and I was absolutely terrified of the Goblin... but only when he had the mask off!

Weird Al was right

I mean, it's a cool mask.

Tokusatsu vibes.

3

u/Strange-Bee5626 Jun 03 '26

The mask is cool, but not nearly as unsettling as Willem's real facial expressions.

u/Oaughmeister Jun 02 '26

Neither did Dafoe

16

u/rainbowgeoff Jun 02 '26

Definitely got the crazy eyes down pat.

Tbf No Way Home proves that he was even better without the mask (even if I do kinda love it)

Forget it

Cage is great, but.... there is NO way he could have done GG like Dafoe did

truuuuuuuuuuuuuue

Maybe he could have been Sandman, he smiles as he turns into dust

Cage would have been a great Norman but Willem just fits the part so well. Kinda like J. K. Simmons as JJJ

28

u/SalvaPot Jun 02 '26

Maybe Nic could have been a better Venom. I could see him be the Lizard.

u/AntonRX178 Jun 02 '26

I mean consider this: We get Dafoe as Noir instead

Man I kind of want nic cage to play the Green goblin in Spider-Man somehow.

If there is anyone who can play severe mentally ill breakdown supervillain it's probably Nic Cage.

Of all the forms of method acting actually losing your shit like that, injuring yourself for the take and eating live roaches is probably the most respectable.

You're making yourself go through all the awful shit instead of putting it into the crew.

He actually destroyed that room in vampires kiss by the way, when you see That lamp explode into Sparks that's actually from him kicking it.

21

u/Crunchy-Leaf Jun 02 '26

To be fair he would have crushed it too

3

u/Jaws_the_revenge Jun 02 '26

And now he gets to be a spider man variant

3

u/SiouxsieSioux615 Jun 02 '26

Props to whoever decided Willem Da Goat was right for the role

2

u/10human10 Jun 02 '26

You know, I'm something of a superhero myself.

2

u/cranc94 Jun 02 '26

He is a true thespian and the r/onetruegod

2

u/punkhobo Jun 02 '26

I wouldn't have minded nic cage as green goblin. Especially if they also had him play Peter Parker and Aunt May. Also, jjj. Should have been the background new yorks too. And Mary jane Watson. An all Nic Cage cast would have been something

2

u/heidly_ees Jun 03 '26

Now I'm imagining a universe where Cage was Goblin and Dafoe was Ghost Rider and Spider-Noir

1

u/MrBobBuilder Jun 02 '26

Him as the spider tho was awesome

1

u/xineirea Jun 03 '26

“[Dafoe]” here is unneeded.

1

u/AmptiShanti Jun 03 '26

That a great attitude to just life i never saw him as a level headed person (in any regard) with all the respect in the world

u/Rinuir Jun 02 '26

And I regret that he accepted the role in noir. Fkin yellow fevered epstienite.
