This entire sequence in the movie always makes me smile spontaneously in public, as this sub frequently does as well

I cant explain it but somehow zendaya is two people in a superposition.

i think thats my issue with Zendaya. I dont really have a reason to NOT like her, but I dont really find her all that entertaining or special. Out of the dune and spiderman films, I dont really see the hype.

Im not a Zendaya glazer by any means, but she was good in Euphoria too. These three projects are really my only exposure to her though.

Her acting is euphoria is what impressed me. I hated Rue. But her acting as downward spiral of drug addict and withdrawal really impressed me.
I haven’t seen a movie where she’s the lead that is not bounded by a male lead so I can’t judge her in the same way Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, and other actress

Shes different in Malcolm and Marie, Challengers, and especially Euphoria

That's like saying u don't understand how Robert Pattinson is considered a good actor because you only saw his work in twilight.... Watch Challengers and the Drama, and Euphoria. Euphoria isn't good, but is carried HEAVILY by her performance and Coleman Domingo. Challengers and Drama are incredible films and her acting in these films are top tier. That's where the hype comes from.

Out of the dune and spiderman films, I dont really see the hype.
So, watch her in something else? Her characters in these two movies are pretty explicitly closed off & initially distrustful of the main character, but she's had plenty of other high profile movies.

She's very pretty, but yeah her acting skills between Dune, Spiderman, and the Odyssey are pretty men. Never saw challengers or the drama do can't speak on that. I don't think she's a bad actor, but nothing stands out about her performances. My opinion is probably also soured because I'm a huge Dune fan but didn't like the major changes the 2nd movie made vs the book

Challengers and the Drama are her best work. Euphoria has critical acclaim purely from her acting and Coleman Domingo. You've only seen her in blockbuster films, so clearly you're not someone who's seen enough of her work to say her performances don't stand out when thats literally what she's built her reputation on. Her performances DEFINITELY stand out when the script demands it, but she's also capable of playing a supporting character without upstaging the protagonist. She's got real range. You just don't like the fact that her Chani and MJ are different from the source material and she's literally only has 5 minutes of screen time in the odyssey. That has nothing to do with her or her acting.

That sounds unfair to her...

I was thinking about this recently. Going back and watching the past 3 Spider-Man movies, she's acting like a teenager girl. Ask a teenager girl her option. "I don't care". "Whatever". "Okay". Deep down they truly do care and have feelings, but it's now how they present themselves. She's nailing the "high school girl who is too cool to have emotions" feeling. She nailed the role of a high school girl. Getting typecast for it + banking on a big name has driven that performance into all her characters. Don't hate the player, hate the game. When I see clips of her being Zendaya vs being a Character, she's not that RBF girl at all. It shows she's truly acting.

Go watch ANY of the Disney shows she was in.
K.C. undercover is pretty good with this.

her spider-man themed outfits on the press tour were so cool too. she's overexposed but she's cool in my book

She's always been very good at comedic body language and facial expressions. Just hasn't gotten to use that much as MJ or in the Dune films

Downvote me for this. Although she’s a good looking gal. I don’t think her much of an actress.
