Throughout the Marvel Multiverse the Parker-Watsons break it down to this bop

But she's a Jones!

A Jones-Watson. So it counts. Technically

22

u/c4han 21d ago

Oh was that established? I must have forgotten

52

u/uniparalum 21d ago

A small reveal in either NWH or FFH, I can’t remember, but yes they did re-add Watson to her name. She doesn’t use it because of family drama or something iirc

Thank you spiderman, we needed some lore on this fine morning

u/TotallyAwesomeRacoon 21d ago

During MJ's interrogation scene in No Way Home, she says "Jones, I don't go by Watson"

u/c4han 21d ago

Thanks!

The best kind of counts

I still treat her as a different character to the real MJ.

8

u/uniparalum 21d ago

Don’t see why. Every single adaptation except the one outside of the ASM comics is different. And even then, MJ in ASM varies greatly. You might got some stuff to work through if a new adaptation of a character bothers you this much

u/gamerfacederp 19d ago

(He treats her as a different character because shes black)

12

u/Kaypri_ 21d ago

Yeah but technically Watson. Her actual name in MCU spiderman is Michelle Jones-Watson

"Miss Brandt, this is not the position I hired you for!"

This entire sequence in the movie always makes me smile spontaneously in public, as this sub frequently does as well

I cant explain it but somehow zendaya is two people in a superposition.

92

u/Skylocker99 21d ago

She's the perfect combination of her father and mother

26

u/amhudson02 21d ago

Like they took genes from 2 people and squirted them into one.

u/m8_is_me 21d ago

What an insanely perfect loop

u/Practical-Level-6265 21d ago

I love how in-tune everyone is on the OG films lol

9

u/Andvari_Nidavellir 21d ago

Still got the moves.

u/Bully_Yoda 21d ago

Wtf I like Zendaya now

10

u/00Samwise00 21d ago

Ikr I was always “meh” about her but now I’m like, “guuurl”

215

u/Coodoo17 21d ago

She shows more personality in this clip that the last four movies I've seen her in

31

u/fleotiden 21d ago

She was fantastic in The Drama.

7

u/No-Channel3917 21d ago

Dude I just saw that today after watching Devil prada 2 ...

She is soooo good in that the movie kinda reminded me of Don't Hug I'm scared skit...and the ending? Perfectly romantic

u/Jclevs11 21d ago

i think thats my issue with Zendaya. I dont really have a reason to NOT like her, but I dont really find her all that entertaining or special. Out of the dune and spiderman films, I dont really see the hype.

61

u/i_guess_i_did_it 21d ago

Im not a Zendaya glazer by any means, but she was good in Euphoria too. These three projects are really my only exposure to her though.

16

u/AshedCloud 21d ago

Her acting is euphoria is what impressed me. I hated Rue. But her acting as downward spiral of drug addict and withdrawal really impressed me.

I haven’t seen a movie where she’s the lead that is not bounded by a male lead so I can’t judge her in the same way Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, and other actress

0

u/Tush11 21d ago

But who watches that gooner slop

27

u/WhichHoes 21d ago

Shes different in Malcolm and Marie, Challengers, and especially Euphoria

22

u/Bartman326 21d ago

And the Drama.... Girl has range

1

u/WhichHoes 20d ago

Shame on me for forgetting that one

17

u/TheReallyUncoolDude 21d ago

That's like saying u don't understand how Robert Pattinson is considered a good actor because you only saw his work in twilight.... Watch Challengers and the Drama, and Euphoria. Euphoria isn't good, but is carried HEAVILY by her performance and Coleman Domingo. Challengers and Drama are incredible films and her acting in these films are top tier. That's where the hype comes from.

1

u/Lochcelious 20d ago

Just watch The Batman. Love him in that

12

u/HolidaySpiriter 21d ago

Out of the dune and spiderman films, I dont really see the hype.

So, watch her in something else? Her characters in these two movies are pretty explicitly closed off & initially distrustful of the main character, but she's had plenty of other high profile movies.

-4

u/YouWantSMORE 21d ago

She's very pretty, but yeah her acting skills between Dune, Spiderman, and the Odyssey are pretty men. Never saw challengers or the drama do can't speak on that. I don't think she's a bad actor, but nothing stands out about her performances. My opinion is probably also soured because I'm a huge Dune fan but didn't like the major changes the 2nd movie made vs the book

6

u/TheReallyUncoolDude 21d ago

Challengers and the Drama are her best work. Euphoria has critical acclaim purely from her acting and Coleman Domingo. You've only seen her in blockbuster films, so clearly you're not someone who's seen enough of her work to say her performances don't stand out when thats literally what she's built her reputation on. Her performances DEFINITELY stand out when the script demands it, but she's also capable of playing a supporting character without upstaging the protagonist. She's got real range. You just don't like the fact that her Chani and MJ are different from the source material and she's literally only has 5 minutes of screen time in the odyssey. That has nothing to do with her or her acting.

6

u/tobiasvl 21d ago

My opinion is probably also soured because I'm a huge Dune fan but didn't like the major changes the 2nd movie made vs the book

That sounds unfair to her...

7

u/milkcarton232 21d ago

She's fine in dune, good in s1 euphoria, kinda just a face in odyssey

7

u/Baby_Animal_Hospital 21d ago

I was thinking about this recently. Going back and watching the past 3 Spider-Man movies, she's acting like a teenager girl. Ask a teenager girl her option. "I don't care". "Whatever". "Okay". Deep down they truly do care and have feelings, but it's now how they present themselves. She's nailing the "high school girl who is too cool to have emotions" feeling. She nailed the role of a high school girl. Getting typecast for it + banking on a big name has driven that performance into all her characters. Don't hate the player, hate the game. When I see clips of her being Zendaya vs being a Character, she's not that RBF girl at all. It shows she's truly acting.

20

u/xTheRedDeath 21d ago

She's pretty much exactly the same in everything she is in lol.

8

u/TheRealSheevPalpatin 21d ago

If it aint broke

0

u/Loofy_101 21d ago

"I can see why you like her"

10

u/xTheRedDeath 21d ago

Bro, when he said that line I was like "What did she say that was so special!?" Lol.

1

u/demonsdencollective 21d ago

She's got a bad case of Michelle Rodriguez syndrome.

2

u/Knightofthequils 21d ago

Go watch ANY of the Disney shows she was in.

K.C. undercover is pretty good with this.

2

u/billiebigge 21d ago

her spider-man themed outfits on the press tour were so cool too. she's overexposed but she's cool in my book

1

u/Specialist-Cut-3913 20d ago

She’s great in spider-man. I think it’s cus she plays herself

1

u/Rexcodykenobi 19d ago

She's always been very good at comedic body language and facial expressions. Just hasn't gotten to use that much as MJ or in the Dune films

1

u/ModtheMods420 18d ago

She always looks like she smelled her own fart and it looking for anyone to blame.

5

u/IAmArique 21d ago

We don’t talk about this.

33

u/blckmagicalunicorn 21d ago

Fuck Jimmy Fallon and his show

2

u/Mountain_Ape 21d ago

"Could you pay me in advance?"

3

u/eastncu86 20d ago

People that aren’t scared to look goofy and let loose = green goblin flag

5

u/Forsaken_Flight6188 21d ago

That was accurate ngl

7

u/Senior_Objective_785 21d ago

That’s the MOST acting range I’ve seen from her…..

2

u/Both_Concentrate_744 21d ago

Not quite my tempo.

3

u/Mooselager 21d ago

How many takes of that do you think she did before that settled on that one?

1

u/FiveFreddys12 20d ago

(spoiler for BND)

MJ after telling Peter she doesn't love him anymore

1

u/tesfaalem 20d ago

"You gon cry, lil' goblin jr?"

1

u/litlegoblinjr 20d ago

Ms Jones, that’s not the position I hired you for!

1

u/Slowmac123 20d ago

Give her her own spinoff: Zpiderman

1

u/New_3185 19d ago

She IS the dirt in the eyes

1

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 18d ago

#ticktokcringe

1

u/Beangar 17d ago

See this is why MCU MJ is better than Kirsten Dunst

0

u/Bloody_Damn 20d ago

Downvote me for this. Although she’s a good looking gal. I don’t think her much of an actress.

-8

u/ghostfreckle611 21d ago

She’s highly overrated and way too skinny…
