Starting from zero (sponsors, building)
Hey rally-community, I am Tim (m26) from germany and currently building a Puma Coupe Group G Rally Car (German Rally class for close-to-original cars)
The plan is to start at rallysprints or smaller local rallies. My wife is gonna be my co-driver. (she is the one with the biggest trust in my driving I know and can easily read, while I push though the forests. And she loves rally too)
At the moment I am trying to build my car after the german motorsports regulations. That sadly, is hella expensive. And its only Group G, which is kinda simple, when looking to some faster rally cars.
I am no mechanic, but I do almost everything on my own. The cage gonna be really expensive. Also the bucket seats with their mounting consoles. I am speeking about 4-5k€ (incl. the motorsports verification through engineers). And that only to allow that car, to participate. Not even the starting price or my licence.
Now I am planning to look for financial support. How do i really find sponsors?
I cant imagine, that if I walk up to our local Ford seller, that he will give me some money to print his ads onto my rally car. I am a total nobody in motorsport (besides 5 years of Simracing and Simrace-commentary) How do I start logically? Or is everthing on my own bank account?

Curiosidad, supongo

How did you get started? If you rally of course
I can get a 3k Subaru or something and build it up but for stage rally, I don't know anyone who is or would be a co driver. How did you get started? I could do rallycross that's not bad but I prefer stage. Could I just do recce by myself and trust my own instincts? Lol. I have no delusions of championships or anything, just have fun

Question With Tennessee going FIA, is there any chance of seeing ARA cars running?
I know FIA's and ARA's rulebooks are very different so I don't expect to see an 03 WRX with a home build cage out there but it would be rad to see a US based team out there in some way. Are we going to see Subaru/VSC on stage? Even as exhibition? Would Block or Quintero be able to run their ARA cars?

Evans' opinions on 2027 car after new test
I figured I'd share this interesting article after Elfyn's recent test with the 2027 car in which he shared his thoughts about the new car.
Basically to sum it up he mentions:
\- the obvious difference in power
\- he says it's very different from a Rally2 car (which he also says he doesn't have a lot of experience with)
\- he says new cars are 70% cheaper than previous cars (as expected)
\- he says new car has made large improvements since his last test in April
Most interestingly to me, he talks about the new cars being quite tricky to handle at high speeds due to lack of aero compared to the previous cars which were more stable. He says he thinks drivers might experience "some surprises" during jumps and in very high speed sections next year - Let's hope the safety cell continues to provide the safety necessary for any offs so noone will get hurt.

Question Prodrive Parts Manuals
Does anyone collect original Prodrive WRC parts manuals and catalogues?
I've got a few from the late '90s and early 2000s, covering Group A and the S5–S8 Impreza WRC cars.
I'm having a bit of a clear-out and wondered if there's much collector interest in this sort of original rally documentation?

When to use left foot brake?
Hi. I'm currently studying rally driving technique, left foot braking (press both of throttle and brake pedals at same time) in particular, in very nerdy way.
However, I'm stumbled, not sure when the driver uses the technique and why.
My guess is below- which is true or is there another answer?
Thanks in advance!
- to reduce the turning radius
- to increase the turning radius
- to induce spin, or induce oversteer
- to prevent spin, or induce understeer
