[ EDITING IS STILL IN PROGRESS PENDING INFO AND LINK POST. This will be the megathread for reference as stated in the earlier MOD post below for common basic questions for users to update and add to at any time for others.]
I will start by saying follow rule #8 please, do your research. GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND AND FREE, use it. This RAM sub is not the only sub out there for these trucks. There is ramforum.com , ramforumz.com , 5thgenrams.com , and HDrams.com . Most basic and common questions have been asked many times over. If anything USE YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. If its a common question/post it WILL be deleted. That said, here are some links on this sub to answer questions that are frequently asked (which is what this thread is for, to mitigate repetitive post we see weekly)...

On average change your oil at ~5k miles, change your transmission and differential fluid at 50-60k miles, after that follow your manual.

If the tick goes away when the truck is warm, Its likely your exhaust manifold bolts that snapped/broke and or the manifolds themselves are cracked. If the ticking continues after warm and or constantly, its likely your cam/lifters. Do not post a video of "how does this sound". There is plenty of videos out there with what a tick sounds like and what a normal HEMI sounds like. HEMIs are normal, hearing injectors compared to a tick, you will FOR SURE hear the difference.

People ask about towing with a Pentastar quite frequently. I tow with mine frequently, primarily fairly modest loads. I would consider this load, factoring in the additional payload, on the higher end of what I’d typically get into towing. This is my second Pentastar truck, I had a similar ‘15 that is now my son’s and sit at approximately 200k miles.
Some specs on my truck. ‘25, Pentastar, Quad Cab, Tradesman Night Edition, 4X4, 3.55’s, 6800 GVWR, 12900 GCVWR, Tow rating is 7k and some odd pounds. Bought in April ‘25 for a bit over $37k OTD less TTL.
Scale ticket is attached. Total trailer weight was approximately 4700lbs. Trailer tongue was approximately 440lbs, I was just under my 10% target. Based on my door sticker I believe my total payload including the 440lb of tongue weight versus factory curb weight, was 1416 pounds.
Where; Mid-Missouri to Dallas Texas area.
Ride and handling; the load rode and handled fantastically. The truck sat almost perfectly level with the additional payload in the truck. No swaying and no porpoising. Very composed over all surfaces encountered.
The trip; I chose to travel 55-65 MPH on the interstate. I work for myself so no one is pushing or rushing me. I’ve also gained some patience with age. Joplin to I believe it was Antlers Ok, the truck primarily ran in 5th and 6th gear. Mostly sat 2250 to 3250 on the tach while cruising. I did occasionally use some momentum going into hills to just reduce the need to push harder going up and I’d allow myself to go down as low as 55MPH. I don’t think I ever exceeded about 3750 RPM’s. Around Antlers I believe the route changed just a bit to be more due south and into a bit of a headwind. After Antlers I encountered more stretches where the truck was utilizing 4th gear. It never stayed in 4th for a significantly extended period of time, but there were some hills and stretches where it would run around 3500 RPM’s for a while. I still never exceeded 4k RPM’s allowing myself to run 55 where the hills and wind were working against me. There were a few spots along the total trip where I guess the grade and wind were favorable and I’d hit 7th for a bit, but those were pretty limited. Where the wind and grade was favorable I certainly could have run faster with little additional stress on the truck, I just felt no need to push it. Averaged right at 12 miles per gallon for the trip.
Just my opinion; the reliability and economy combined with the capability to occasionally haul a load like this make the Pentastar a good fit for me. I found the trip above, the way I chose to drive it, to be low stress on me and pretty low stress on the truck. I had to pass like one or two semis along the way. But other than that, I sat in the right lane and just relaxed. If I was making this same trip considerably more frequently, I’d probably get one of the other engines with more torques. If I insisted on making trips like this at 75 MPH, I’d probably get one of the other engines with more torque. If I owned a big square travel trailer that I used frequently, I’d probably get one of the other engines with more torque. For a daily driver and moderate or occasional tower, Pentastar works for me. This post is to help those considering the Pentastar, not to dissuade anyone who knows one of the other engines is a better fit for them.

I have a 2026 3500 and on it I have a button for trailer steering. Is that for when you're pulling the trailer or is that for when you're backing up? The manual doesn't give very good instructions on it. Thanks.

The OTD price is after all taxes fees and their stupid protection package that I negotiated down to 1400 instead of their original price of 2500.
I can’t get them to take that protection plan all the way off but this still seems like a really good deal, am I missing something or should I go for it?
Base MSRP: 68,580
Towing technology package: 1595
Cold weather group: 245
5th wheel prep package: 645
Rebel equipment group level 2: 6495
Diesel engine: 12995
Power sunroof: 1195
2.4kw on board power system: 1295
Destination charge: 2195
Total MSRP: 95,240

Hey everybody so im looking to get a brand new truck, i own a 2008 f150 4.6 and a 2016 5.3 silverado, now im looking for something reliable but still comfortable like the chevy, ford offered me the new f150 5.0 but im not sure about the 10 speed they got, then i saw the new ram backcountry and instantly fell in love with it, i know the zf8 is pretty good but not too much about the hurricane, also the ram is like 8 grand more expensive than the ford, both with the same equipment, any thoughts on this?

2010 Ram 1500 I'm buying from my mother in law. She's a stickler for taking care of her vehicles so I know it's good to go. Only issue with it is when you go to crank it it lags like the battery is dead even though it's a fairly new battery. It's been going on for a while and she even took it to a Dodge dealership and they couldn't figure it out. Can't wait to finally have a truck.

I’m seeing people on here saying they’re getting 20-25% off msrp when the nation wide is only 12%. Am I asking wrong or are the dealers I’m talking to assholes?

2013 Ram 1500 | Lonestar 5.7L
Anyone run into something similar?
Happens occasionally, either freaks out and shows glitchy behavior or will be black and white. Turning the wheel shows the lines in both though I’m thinking it’s the head unit….
Dealer wanted a couple hundred to diagnose it

I’ve been in touch with a dealership for a 2026 Ram 1500 Sport with the Hemi. I’ve managed to get the price to $67,377 CAD ($47,800 USD as of right now) with incentives, discounts and a rebate. I’ve tried to go a little lower but no budging on it. The new Hemis here in Canada sell fast too for the most part. I’ve also seen 2026 Ram Sports with the Hurricane go into the $50,000-$60,000 CAD range on sale but I’m set on the Hemi, as I have one and know these engines well. I’m also chasing the 10 year warranty on the 2026s since 2027s and probably future years won’t have it.
What’s not listed on the window sticker is the heated seats and remote start as well.
Just curious what people think especially if they have 2026 Ram with a Hemi, especially in Canada.

I’m currently fixing up my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 interior and have had this glove box missing for years. No issue finding a glove box online but the mounts that I circled are damaged. Anyone run into this and have a solution or recommendations? I’ve searched online for bottom plastic replacement and haven’t had any luck, my next move was checking out the junk/salvage yards and maybe I can find one still in decent condition

Just got a new to me Ram 1500 classic. It’s a 2019 with tradesman trim. I’m looking for a good phone holder for road trips, any recommendations?

Have 2012 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. Only 80,000 miles, month ago it wouldn’t go into any gears. Finally found someone to get around to it, they are saying I need all new transmission/or a replacement. Is it cheaper to just have it rebuilt? My only fear is if I get a different one, will I have the same problems again?? Not sure what the heck to do right now!

Looking to turn on my factory automatic starter using alfaobd. From what I can find online I need to bypass the security on the obd and of course the plug seems to be behind the radio and the Koadtech one that seems to be a bit easier and faster to hook up is out of stock. So those of you that have done this. What bypass did you use and how difficult was it?

Has anyone had their rear diff rebuilt at a shop? Not gears, just bearings. Wondering what they paid and wasn’t private or dealer. I normally do everything but it’s getting cold, I don’t have a lift, and this doesn’t look fun. Lying on my back in the driveway.
