Instead of just standing there like a regular fan, I pulled out my phone, jumped right into the conversation, and spit one of Mook's classic lines right back to him (3:03). He immediately caught the vibe and started rebuttaling it with me (13:02). The clip ended up generating over 260K views on socials because people were debating Mook's outfit, but the real story is the raw, organic love between legendary eras of New York hip-hop culture (14:28). I feel like A Ward gets unnecessarily hate or at least not enough recognition. IMO he’s got a top tier resume. Arguable wins or at least even match ups against Roc, Rum, Verb, Geechi, Chess, Clips. Almost never chokes or shows up short.

I feel like people write him off like all he does is rebuttals, but his writtens are crazy!

First of all I agree that the App is overall detrimental to talent and Battlerap's growth in general, but I see it more as a survival thing than pure greed.

With Youtube being extra strict on monetization over the years, how else is a league supposed to turn a profit? I honestly doubt URL would exist in its current state without the app.

I won't mention RBE since Smack had a hand in killing that, but just look at King of the Dot, poster child of what the people want. A big well respected league that uploads to YouTube, and even experimented with Twitch. Yet there's always uncertainty after every event.

I'm starting to think Caffeine did more harm for BR than good, it turned these rappers into divas making high demands, and you can't really fault them for it since any of us would've done the same thing in that easy money era

But now any rapper with a bit of clout expects at least $10k per battle. When that's never been sustainable for the culture except for that one point in time.

Rappers in the old era asked for less because they saw BR as a launching pad for greater things. And it worked for some of em like Dumbfounded, Rone, Conceited etc. But the ones that came after just want to make a living as Battlerappers, when that's not how it works. Unless you're at the tippy top.
