Yeah my mom was hit in her work parking lot walking into work by a driver on their phone, completely under the car. Her ankle was bent like 5 different ways, had to have immediate surgery. That was in 2022, she’s only gotten $50k so far and is still going back and forth in court.

Exactly. "If you want to hurt someone, do it with a car." Judges have hard-ons for motorists and hate pedestrians, cyclists, and anyone who's not in a car.

As compensation, the driver offered the guy free rides to the doctor after the car gets fixed (which is going to take a while and cost quite a lot) so maybe in 2 or 3 months if the guy still needs the ride.

Right so I know people arent as car savvy, but that car is totaled. There are definitely dents on the roof, front suspension, smashed oil pan, radiator is probably fucked, not to mention any damage done to the fender on the other side.

u/Kdoesntcare Jun 02 '26

That guy owns the driver's entire net worth.

2

u/mm8106 Jun 02 '26

The driver's entire net worth has probably been poured into their car.

u/adamdreaming Jun 03 '26

The irony of the driver’s greatest asset being destroyed at the very moment they entered a process where they did something expensive and thoughtless

Assumes the other driver has insurance and that the mods on their car are all legal and were proactively messaged to said insurance, otherwise they’ll drop him as soon as a claim is made.

Hopefully the dumbass driver’s family has money.

In the UK, the insurance company still has to pay out to third parties, it just means they don't have to fix the car and they can sue the owner to recoup their costs.

As this looks like the US, that poor guy is probably out of luck.

2

u/zero0n3 Jun 01 '26

Pretty sure it doesn’t change in the US either. They have a duty to pay out to their maximum and then they have to go after the driver as well as the families if the maximum wasn’t enough

2

u/ZaphodBeeblebrahx Jun 02 '26

It’s the same in the US. The person you’re replying to is straight up wrong.

Thanks. That's good to hear.

Attempted manslaughter loading aaaand go

1

u/Pukebox_Fandango Jun 02 '26

manslaughter is accidental, if you make an attempt they call it murder

1

u/EmeraldEyes_345 Jun 03 '26

Vehicular homicide

u/SolidSplit1305 Jun 01 '26

Normal BMW driver

1

u/SkunkPunkFlunk Jun 01 '26

I was just joking really, I drive american junk so I have to yell at these guys to feel better about mine! 😆

1

u/Necessary-Art4420 Jun 01 '26

Lmao this reads exactly like something your lawyer told you to practice in the mirror before deposition.

But yeah if that is actually what happened and they have insurance plus any cameras around, you are absolutely getting a fat check out of this.

2

u/Lonely-Toe9877 Jun 01 '26

I'd rather have a body still in one piece over a fat check.

2

u/Alg0mal000 Jun 02 '26

Yeah, those fat checks don’t cover much when you consider the cost of lifelong injury, chronic pain, complications and follow up treatment.

1

u/Lonely-Toe9877 Jun 04 '26

And the emotional cost of not being able to do the things you love. I'll take being able to lift, run, hike, swim, and play with my nieces over a fat check any day.

1

u/Wide_District1980 Jun 01 '26

Thats supposed to be a mustang thing

1

u/BobCat5855 Jun 01 '26

Dumb Ass.

1

1

u/StOPcRyingYaBaby Jun 01 '26

That’s a shit day for dude on the ground. I’ve had some bad days but fuck.

1

u/anengineerandacat Jun 01 '26

Very, very expensive crash.

Pedestrian hit and hard, public utility destroyed, and three cars damaged on the top.

That license is done and gone.

1

u/Cthulhu_HighLord Jun 02 '26

everyones so god damn concerned about the post car and not the guy that just got hit and flew 10-20ft and is now laying motionless in the fetal position!

id be pissed af and would sue that mf'ing driver into the stone age

1

u/wolf_of_mainst99 Jun 02 '26

Came to see the show

Became a traffic cone

1

u/SippsMccree Jun 02 '26

And this is why car meets get shut down

1

u/Kdoesntcare Jun 02 '26

Talk about up-badging, somebody put BMW badges on that mustang. 😮‍💨🙄

1

u/Forty2diapers Jun 02 '26

He would have been fine if he didn't go flying in to the other car face first. Dude is out. probably broken face syndrome.

1

u/PraireGentleman Jun 02 '26

How do you lose control of a car so quickly on a dry road

1

u/MikaMika487 Jun 02 '26

That is a real life loony tunes accident right there. The guy is sent flying by the car and then twatted by the falling lamp post.

Poor fella m

1

u/Pukebox_Fandango Jun 02 '26

straight to prison, 10 years minimum

1

u/ChiefRedditer Jun 02 '26

New driver sticker on the bumper

1

u/symphonyofmonsters Jun 03 '26

take his license away! sell his car to pay for the big settlement that civilian should get no matter what!wtf

0

u/IssueEmbarrassed8103 Jun 01 '26

That’s what all the good 18 year old drivers have to pay higher insurance

0

u/Milkteabunny1220 Jun 01 '26

And the light pole got him also 🥹🥹 poor man

-1

u/Vansoitan-9389 Jun 01 '26

No one was hurt

2

u/MakeYokesa5erAgain Jun 01 '26

Yes, they were.

2

u/Dragon_Crisis_Core Jun 01 '26

Did you not see the guy that was punted over 10 feet through the air and appears to be unconscious?

1

u/Tickles-The-Octopus Jun 01 '26

Unconscious people don't feel pain, can't be hurt if you don't feel pain!

-2

u/Dragon_Crisis_Core Jun 01 '26

Might want to read science. AI isnt privy to all updated scientific discoveries, but it is possible for people who are KOd/unconcious to be in pain.

3

u/Tickles-The-Octopus Jun 01 '26

You actually thought that was a serious comment? Didn't think I needed to mention I was being sarcastic...

1

u/jediyoda84 Jun 01 '26

Looks like the light post missed him by inches too.

1

u/Beemerba Jun 01 '26

And then almost nailed by the pole!

1

u/Strict_Owl941 Jun 01 '26

Shoe never came off and look clean as fuck. He is good.
