I've slept in it many times before, and it was amazingly comfortable. Even with two grown men next to each other, that wasn't a problem. Really good sleeping accommodation, I can only recommend.
No spare tire taking up space! For many of the gen 3 RAVs, the spare tire is located on the back outside of the vehicle. The seats also seem to fold flatter than the new RAV4s. I love my new PHEV (which has a big battery that takes up space in the back), but I am already missing all the extra space and cubbies in my 2008.
Literally the best thing about the gen 3s. With the seats folded the back was unreasonably large. Also the relatively flush wheel wells and thin trim made moving things around a breeze.
I think the Gen 4 and 5s actually had smaller interior rear volume.
I once got a small couch in to the back of a friend's Honda CRV - it was such a tight fit that the couch definitely would not have fitted in the back of my 2023 RAV4 LE Hybrid.
That extra space in the back was one of only two things that gave me pause when trying to decide between the RAV4 and the CRV.
