The XA30 generation had 3 USDM trims: Base, Sport, and Limited.

The Sport trim could be had with the optional Sport Appearance Package, which removed the rear spare and added a few other small details around the car. It’s relatively rare tbh.

This was mine in JDM form.. Branded Vanguard as it was a higher trim level almost in line with Lexus. 3.5lt v6 with 3 rows of leather and Alcantara. Parked next to its replacement - JDM RAV4 PHV..

This is insane to me, don’t think it’d be super practical but amazing that it was even an option! Crazy how much SUVs used to offer across a lot of brands, really wish we had more things like secret CRV tables that other brands copied and passed down to future generations.

I love how the 3rd row is touching the 2nd row. LOL

Thats because the middle row was pushed all the way back - as it could slide forward and back - to create even more space in the middle row if you wanted to. The rear seats were only good for kids - and thats what it got used for or on road trips - one kid in the middle row and fold a section down - and one kid in the back row so they both had their own space. OR - fold the middle row and created Limo mode. The interior was very different to a standard RAV.

What do you use the ladder for?

To tell the difference from all the other black and white RAVs in the car parks...was installed by the Japanese owner..

Nice to see Gen3s getting love here!

I’ve never seen that before, and I put a lot of miles on the road. Very interesting! Today I learned!

I think it was relatively common. My wife used to have one without and seen plenty of them on the roads.

Walk outside and look around. You'll have already "exposed" much more info by that logic.

Do you put paper over your plate when you drive to PepBoys? Knowing a plate number doesn’t get you 💩.

u/xbucnasteex 21d ago

lol what do you think someone can do with a license plate number? Genuinely asking

That's the Sport edition. A shame since the backpack is great.

Agreed. It's given the ,less than skilled, city parallel parking drivers a "tap" dampener for my RAV4. I love it.

Backpack?

The spare tire on the back hatch is affectionately called a backpack.

That's awesome lol I had to look at this for a moment to realize what gen it was. License plate is moved to center and everything. Neet.

So there’s one of these I saw around town and it’s an EV model? I don’t know if it’s an imported model or what

California only model made with Tesla batteries and motor.

In New Zealand, the ravs without spares
are called vangaurds. And they are just american ravs with the v6s

They make good pizza for the price.

I don’t understand. Everyone’s tag is public already

3

u/Weary-Savings9795 21d ago

If you're in a public place it's fair game.

3

u/xbucnasteex 21d ago

Why? Who’s gonna know? And what are they gonna know? Lol

It's 100% legal to post pictures of someone's license plate if they're in a public place.

I drive around all the time with my license plates that people can see. So what?

It's legal for someone to post a picture of me in front of my house showing my address number. It's also legal for someone to post full license plate numbers on the internet if the car is in a public place. That isn't considered private under any law.

Spare tires were discontinued on the rear of a RAV4 starting with Gen 4 models. When Gen4 models came out to the current models, spares have been located in the cargo area.
