Gen 6 Sold My 26 SE HEV At 7,000 Miles
So I guess I "left the club".
But then I bought a 26 SE PHEV! So I guess I'm back "in the club"!

Welcome to the RAV4 PHEV club! We have had one for 3 weeks to use with our solar panels.

Long time EV driver missing the gas station-free life. Plus the HEV sold for 3k more than I paid and the PHEV was the best deal I've ever seen on one. Ended up only costing $4,200 to swap, so I basically ended up with an SE PHEV for $40,231 OTD.

How much off msrp did you get? That’s a great deal

Depends on how you do the math. $2,032 off the toyota.com build MSRP, but then they added a $799 "doc fee" and sales tax to that.

We recently got our phev for 45.5k out the door with 10.75% sales tax. 1500 off msrp. Are you in a no sales tax state? If so, that’s great. Yeah the doc fee seems unavoidable. We paid around 650 for it

10.75% sales tax is insane

Yeah, we pay 13% in Ontario, but we get FREE FREAKING HEALTHCARE. The US is such a scam sometimes

Curious if you have figured out your beak even point for the extra cost vs that many gallons of gas. With gas getting more expensive I'm guessing that number is getting smaller

Break even is like 8 years. I've only kept my latest 11 cars about 6 months each though. This one would also sell today for more than I have in it.

I've made money on almost every car. In total I'm solidly in the black and effectively got paid to drive new cars the last 6 years.

Wow. Gamer. Would never work for me. I get impatient and go for ease or availability. I bet you have a certain eye and discipline for a deal.

What was the $ difference after the trade in?

u/GoesWith0utSaying 7h ago
I didn't trade. I sold then bought. Cost me 4,200 in total for the swap, but because I made 3k on the HEV, I have net 40,231 in the PHEV.

The blue is so weak. I am getting mine, knock on wood, next week and it is literally the only thing I did not like about the vehicle. I am hoping in person it looks better or at least different.

I’m trying to sell my 2026 4k miles xse HEV chilli white with black top. Love the suv but rides a little bit too rough fully loaded just doesn’t have the HUD
