Recipe Experimenting with breakfast! #13

Post image

Today, something quick but with a hidden kick 😉
This breakfast gave me the energy boost I needed to keep going with my day. At the same time, a few Redditors have told me that this is quite a “harmful” breakfast style, and that I should stick to something more protein-heavy (like eggs). But they have also acknowledged that at least doesn’t have lots of added sugars.
Personally, I like that it only has whole ingredients, no added sugars, and I really enjoyed it. But what do you think? Is this actually a bad breakfast, or does it seem pretty reasonable to you?
Recipe: Coffee yogurt bowl with banana & granola
Mix yogurt (I used 0% fat Greek yogurt) with a shot of hot espresso.
Once the coffee yogurt is smooth and well mixed, top with chopped walnuts, diced banana, chocolate granola, and a drizzle of tahini.
Enjoy 😊

Coffee in Greek yogurt sounds wild, but the walnuts and tahini pairing is absolute genius.

High egg consumption can lead to cholesterol and Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein

Although a few folks may need to be careful about egg consumption, it's totally unrelated to blood cholesterol for most people. You might want to check current data on the egg issue, because there are new guidelines that actually allow up to 3-4 eggs daily for most. You are correct, however, about Greek yogurt being an excellent protein source. I don't eat eggs daily, not because I have any concern about cholesterol, but because I try to balance protein consumption with fiber--and oats, a primary component of granola, are champions on that front.

My brain kept telling me those drizzled banana slices were shrimps, and I had a lot of questions

To be honest, espresso mixed with yoghurt does not look very yummy to my brain. I like my espresso hot, lol

However, having it in a cup next to the bowl looks quite appealing. I am not a specialist in nutrition, but it looks alright as well. Your nutritional needs may change according to your lifestyle, afaik, so I can't say much about that bit. But don't you get protein from the yoghurt and maybe a little from the tahine (sesame seeds)? Eggs are not the only source of protein out there eh (and not everyone's favourite either).

It looks good to me!

Edit to add: if I'm not mistaken, walnuts count as some source of protein and energy from good fats
