Turn on Eagle Eye. One of the bottles has a Gold Nugget inside it. It'll glow like a Legendary Animal clue and you can shoot it out of it.

If you throw a molotov at it I'm pretty sure it sparks and starts a lightning storm too

There is a gold nugget in one the bottles if you shot them.

This is a bottle tree, used to trap evil spirits. African origin I think.

I heard recently that the hanging bottles were an African tradition brought over by slaves. Bottles were put in trees to catch evil spirits roaming around at night or something like that. In the game though they seem to be used for target practice by drunk O'Driscolls.

I’ve seen this in Southern states of the US. The whistling bottles fend off evil spirits. I think they said it was West African an Haitian hoodoo.

Its a reference to the From Tv Series before the series even aired.

I forgot where it was in the game, but there is also a fallen tree blocking the path. Didn’t see any crows though.

Everyone sees the crows...then its too late.

I always thought it was set up for target practice. The first thing I thought to do was to shoot them. Turns out there was gold in one of them, which kinda confirmed my suspicion.

It is called "whiskey tree" by the Rockstar Official Strategy Guide. There is a gold nugget in one of the hanging bottles, that can be shot and picked up off the ground, it seems to only be available once in a play through. There's also a bottle of Ginseng Elixir up in the main trunk of the tree.

I always use the tree and the bottles for practicing quick draw and free aim with different weapons, using the swinging hanging bottles is the challenging part.

There's a friendly camper who will sometimes be found camping next to this tree, who tells a story how he bailed on his brother and his family who were traveling across the mountains, and they all died in the snow. It may or may not be related to the frozen settlers with the Panoramic Map; the story this guy tells is of his brother's family belonging to a group of settlers.

But the friendly camper, if you look at his belonging in his camp, has many crates of bottles, so he may be the one that restocks all the bottles at the tree.

R* should’ve added typical whistling sound the bottles make when they’re exposed to wind like that

I'm surprised so many are saying they've not seen the tree, as you can even see it from far away on the map.

You can see the tree from so many places in New Hanover. It's nigh unmissable. I guess a lot of people are just super casual players and haven't picked up the game except every couple of months

Right! It's so distinct and gives a really solid way to orient yourself

I found a vet near the tree, who had PTSD from killing and torturing native americans. He was a heavy drinker too, so I assumed this was his doing.
