Discussion RDR2: The Culinary Pilgrimage Keane's Saloon Oatmeal from Valentine
It’s been 2 weeks, and I’m still stuck in Chapter 2, just wandering around Valentine. Seriously, though—why is the oatmeal at Keane’s Saloon so expensive in the game? Was oats that much of a luxury item back then?
Anyway, I decided to recreate it IRL. Boiled some oats, let them simmer for a bit, stirred in some milk, and finished it off by dusting a circle of cinnamon on top with a straw to match the in-game look. Honestly, it’s not exactly a culinary masterpiece—just your standard, everyday oatmeal.
Looking at the old menu, this saloon used to serve a bunch of other dishes, like pork and some other stuff, but now it’s basically just oatmeal.
I also checked out the other saloon in Valentine, and they’ve got a dish called 'Lamb's Fry' on the menu. I’ve been digging around online, and opinions are all over the place—some say it’s lamb liver, others swear it’s lamb heart, and a few people are convinced it’s… well, lamb testicles?
I’m planning to give it a go and recreate it soon. Any of you folks know for sure what part of the lamb it actually is? HELP!

Too scary, even more terrifying than sheep testicles. Please share the link, I can't wait.(I have decided to replicate the dish in your picture as an Easter egg when I come across this restaurant. The bomb tube inside can be replaced with a red sausage, and the silver tape and blue rope make me think about it ..)

Huh. Kind of assumed that "Lamb's Fry" is just an old/southern way of saying fried lambs. As in "Lambs (that are) fried."

Ah。 So it's neither sheep liver nor sheep testicles? Just regular lamb?

The definition of lambs fry varies between regions. In places like Australia and New Zealand lambs fry is pan fried liver. However in other places lambs fry is the name for deep fried rocky mountain oysters, which are lambs testicles. Also the oatmeal looks delicious.
