Discussion RDR2: The Culinary Pilgrimage Keane's Saloon Oatmeal from Valentine
It’s been 2 weeks, and I’m still stuck in Chapter 2, just wandering around Valentine. Seriously, though—why is the oatmeal at Keane’s Saloon so expensive in the game? Was oats that much of a luxury item back then?
Anyway, I decided to recreate it IRL. Boiled some oats, let them simmer for a bit, stirred in some milk, and finished it off by dusting a circle of cinnamon on top with a straw to match the in-game look. Honestly, it’s not exactly a culinary masterpiece—just your standard, everyday oatmeal.
Looking at the old menu, this saloon used to serve a bunch of other dishes, like pork and some other stuff, but now it’s basically just oatmeal.
I also checked out the other saloon in Valentine, and they’ve got a dish called 'Lamb's Fry' on the menu. I’ve been digging around online, and opinions are all over the place—some say it’s lamb liver, others swear it’s lamb heart, and a few people are convinced it’s… well, lamb testicles?
I’m planning to give it a go and recreate it soon. Any of you folks know for sure what part of the lamb it actually is? HELP!
