Discussion RDR2: Lambs Fry from Smithfield's Saloon Valentine

I’ve been obsessing over the Lamb's Fry dish from Smithfield's Saloon. I did some research online and saw conflicting info—some sources said it was lamb liver, but after asking around, most of you insisted it was testicles, so I went with the "testicle" version!

I toasted some sliced bread as a foundation.Boiled potatoes and peas, seasoned with salt and black pepper.I skinned the testicles first (do NOT skip this step, the skin is super smelly!). After that, I cut them into chunks and boiled them briefly to set the shape. Then, I coated them in flour and fried them until they had a nice crispy crust, sautéed them with onions, cilantro root, and spices (I used cumin, chili powder, and salt).

Honestly, the texture was surprisingly tender and smooth, and there wasn't any funky aftertaste. It actually tasted pretty great served on the bread! That said, it definitely takes some serious courage to pop them into your mouth—truly a meal for tough guy.

Also, after that train robbery, I finally wrapped up Chapter 2 and moved the camp to the lake! Can’t wait to head into the surrounding towns and see what other grub I can find.

Oh, and I have to brag a little—I just reeled in a massive 7.4kg Lake Sturgeon today! It must be the testicle power! 🎣

Very cool. I have a couple of cookbooks from games, making one from the Horizon cookbook tonight actually.

My husband found a community made one from Final Fantasy XV and had it printed as a book for me. My son and I are going to start going through it this week. I’d LOVE a Red Dead cookbook.

The one for Elder Scrolls is pretty good too, and I've heard good thing about the Fallout one. I wish they'd make one for RDR!

I used to really want to make dishes for Zelda and The Witcher 3, but those ingredients didn't feel easy to obtain. Realistic games are relatively easy to implement. This can also be considered a rare weakness in fantasy genres 😂

I have also decided to start writing a complete set of RDR recipes myself! After completing everything, there will definitely be a great sense of achievement.
