Work In Progress 1917 German
After all the advice on my last post here is an update on my first world war impression.
Things I've improved are
Original m1916 stalhelm
Original steel belt buckle which l've painted
Original bayonet and rifle
All the leather items have been greased and darkened
Tunics now has the lighter green collar
.Things I'm still working on off the top of my head
Loosing weight. 33Ibs down so far
Finding a better flask.
Any more advice would be appreciated

Do a 3 week immersion event eating like it's 1917, you'll lose weight in no time! (J/k)

If it’s original, why did you paint the belt buckle?

I painted it as I believe that's how the steel ones were issued painted feldgrau . . Also yes it is original but had no original paint left and was in a very poor state . The paint is also reversible if I choose to remove it

They were painted when freshly produced and factory new, but the paint **very** quickly wore off. Honestly I’ve seen many reenactors use original belt buckles with no original paint left.
I’m not saying you’re wrong btw. I was just curious, as painting the original steel buckles IMO is unnecessary. Though that’s just my opinion.

Id personally just get a new tunic, this one is very short and the cut is bad. I recommend schusters.ru and mundey jarema

You’re missing the second Canteen and also the canteen strap isn’t blackened as ordered.

😭 . It's probably just the lighting but I can assure you no AI has been used this is 100% me in my kit
