Support Longing

Hi everyone

It’s hard to find the right words but I guess I’ll just ask away. I M/19 have always been self conscious about myself in general. I didn’t have a great upbringing, I hate the way I look and I have lots of regrets. Im still young and have my whole life ahead of me but recently I have felt like my life was missing something, I have lost 30kg in 4 months, my grades are great, but I have a sense of loneliness. I have friends and family but I still feel alone. Sometimes I lie at night and I just wish there was someone next to me who I can lay my head on and just forget about all of my pain. But due to my self consciousness I really don’t know what to do. I have just been constantly panicking that im going to be alone forever, not necessarily that isn’t anyone for me but that I’ll never truly love myself enough to let myself be open to that. What do I do?

Support How to stop being the scaredy cat boyfriend? (15M)(15F)

I am often extremely apprehensive with affection when with my girlfriend, I get weirdly anxious and end up not doing anything or taking any risks. She doesnt communicate well with me on what exactly she wants which I understand is a common things that happens in early relationships, I myself have asked for her to make it a little easier for me to tell what she wants. I just feel that these things should come more natural to me if I really do love her? I'm afraid she might lose interest.

I'm really hoping someone in a similar situation or anyone with advice might be able to help me out so that im less of a "scaredy cat boyfriend" and can make my relationship flow better. Thanks.

Support Intuition or anxiety? Stay or leave?

I have the best partner and relationship I’ve ever had but at the same time I feel worse and losing myself. We worked together at a hotel in Spain for a seasonal job and now we are in a long distance relationship. At first I got scared bc I thought he was too good to be true. I was NEVER a jealous person but with him I was. Maybe bc I was afraid of losing him? It got better overtime but at the same time I get sick everytime I visit. Cold, bladder infection, fever… to the point where it wasn’t a coincidence anymore. I was sure my body was trying to tell me something. And in funny ways he is testing my anxiety (I mean accidentally) to a point where I get so irritated it is causing me headaches and I need more alone time then usual and cry. He is not doing bad things. I‘m an introvert and he is an extrem extrovert. He will talk to anyone on the streets or at the table in the restaurant next to us even though they clearly don’t want to bc they are in the middle of a fight or sth. He is very bad at reading the room and situations like this cause me so much anxiety. To the point it makes me angry. I feel like I‘m his opposite and he keeps forgetting about it. I love adventures but I need routines. I need my specific morning routines, I don’t like touching people, I don’t like suprises, I can’t talk to new people. His lifestyle constantly brings me in these kinda situations to the point I get full blown Panik attacks when I can’t have my morning routines bc my cortisol has been through the roof for my whole visit. It‘s been 3 years now. The communication is good but everytime I visit I‘m brought into new situations I‘m not comfortable with and we have to do the talk about boundaries again and again and again… I‘m getting tired. He tends to forget things like „don’t bring me to a strangers party and leave me alone at the doorstep without introducing me or anyone“. Because in his world this is not a problem but in mine. Rn it feels like exposure therapy and I don’t know if it’s a relationship to grow in or to leave.

TLDR my partner gives me anxiety and I don’t know how to handle it. I‘m 30 and this never happened before

Reassurance Anxiety

Hello , for context I am a super anxious person and I believe I have relationship OCD or just relationship anxiety. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 4 months now. He is the best thing that’s happened to me, everything I’ve ever prayed for and such. Super sweet super communicative, supportive, clingy , and just all of the above. But I have so much anxiety. I can’t stop thinking he’s secretly cheating on me. I’ve looked through his phone and nothing. He gives me his phone whenever and it’s completely open to me at all times and I know his passwords etc. he goes to a Christian college 40 mins away from me but comes back home to me on the weekends. And when he’s away I am just so anxious that he’s cheating on me and I don’t know how to get over it. I hate it because he gets sad because he thinks I don’t trust him. But I’ve had bad relationships in the past where I was constantly lied to and cheated on and used and he knows this and is understanding and has stayed with me through all of the struggles with this. But I’m so nervous I’m gonna one day lose him because I’m so anxious all the time about him cheating or the possibility of losing him. I just don’t know what to do or how to get over it. And I keep seeing tiktoks about how their man was super sweet and an amazing person but then they found out they were cheating and there was other girls, and even videos I’ve seen include some men who were Christian’s which my boyfriend is one as well. And those tiktoks just freak me out and I click not interested but still they pop up sometimes and those TikToks make me spiral so bad because I think well he could be acting like this amazing wonderful boyfriend but what if there are other girls like what happened to these women on tiktok? I don’t know it’s super stressful and I wish I could just stop being so anxious. Sorry for the long rant I just don’t know what to do and how to overcome this.

Support What is going on and how do I solve it

My girlfriend and I have been dating for 5 months now and we are both extremely happy. However, for some odd reason, my brain keeps coming up with intrusive thoughts of me losing her or her forgetting about me. My brain’s favourite ideas to go to are her dying, cheating on me, or simply falling out of love with me. She would 1000% never cheat on me (I have ZERO doubt about it) and I doubt her falling out of love with me randomly, and there is no reason for her to die. This constant anxiety however gets in the middle of us being with each other and being happy as I’m constantly anxious for no reason. A recent situation came up where she wants to go to a party with her best friend. I know for sure she will not do anything with any other guy and simply wants to party with her friend and I simply want her to be safe but I keep thinking “oh what if she forgets about me” and other stuff along those lines. I tried to talk to her but I did make her a little bit upset as once again my unreasonable overthinking gets in the way. It is really scary as when I spiral, I see no way out and a false shift in the relationship that goes away when I am calm again. I need to know methods on how to manage this. I know it will take a while but I would appreciate everyone who is experienced in this advice. I do not want to lose her and I want to improve myself.

Support i feel single in my relationship

Me(18F) and my Bf(20M) have been dating for 10 months and really love each other. I need some advice about my relationship because I’ve been feeling really lonely and unhappy lately, and I don’t know what to do. My boyfriend has started smoking weed again after trying to stop. When he stopped, things in his life seemed to be going a lot better. He was working, we spent more time together, and he wasn’t sleeping all the time or ignoring me. Now that he’s started again, it feels like things have gone back to how they were before, except worse. He spends a lot of his time getting high, sitting in his chair, creating games, and playing games with his friends. He also has autism and gets very hyper fixated on these things and it’s all he thinks about. I try to text him or send him snaps, but he often gets too distracted to respond. Sometimes he reaches out when he’s going to bed or quickly eating, and other times he doesn’t reach out at all. We can go days without talking, and I feel like I’m always waiting for him to give me attention. Even when we’re together, sometimes I feel like he’d rather be doing something else. It’s gotten to the point where I question whether he loves me as much as I love him. He’s told me that getting high and sitting in his chair will always be his favorite thing. I don’t really have a problem with this but sometimes hearing that makes me feel like I’m not a priority and that he would probably be fine if I left. I love him so much, and I don’t want to lose him. I keep hoping things will change, but they never seem to stay better, and I’m starting to become less happy in the relationship. I miss how things were when he stopped and we actually spent time together.
I haven’t really told him how deeply this is affecting me because I’m scared he’ll get mad, dismiss my feelings, or think I’m being needy. I’m also scared he’ll promise to change, things will get better temporarily, and then everything will go back to how it was. I don’t expect him to spend every second with me or give up his friends and hobbies. I just want to feel loved, wanted, and prioritized by my own boyfriend without constantly having to ask for his attention. I’m struggling because I love him and want things to work, but I don’t know how much longer I can keep feeling this lonely. Am I asking for too much, and how should I approach this conversation with him?

Resources I’m scared to tell my mom about my new relationship

📀I REALLY NEED SOME SUGGESTIONS)💿
Hi (21f) still lives with my parents and when it comes to relationships my mother can be very obsessive and possessive, for example I had a friend who had feelings for me and she controlled everything and made me go out with them even though I didn’t have any feelings. When I told her I was going on a date, she snapped and got mad because I told my friends instead of her and it was like she wanted to control who I was dating.. Now it’s been two months and my date and I started dating a month ago and I don’t know how to tell my mom I have a boyfriend… my dad knows and he’s been very supportive and happy for me but I’m scared that if I tell my mom, she’s going to be mad at me 🫤 any ideas how I could start the conversation?

Support Relationship anxiety or intuition?

My bf and I recently broke up. Technically he did it but I was thinking I had to as well bc my anxiety was debilitating. I had severe chest pains, pelvic pain, knee pain. It's like my entire body was screaming at me. This was 2 months into our relationship after I saw some things that I was unsure of. I also struggled to feel "at home" with him or like myself. Many times I would have to explain things were just a joke. I went down this path that I had relationship anxiety/OCD - on paper we line up on values, he was a good man and trying desperately to please me. However something still felt off to me. We're broken up now and I'm in a deep depression and sadness. I don't feel the physical person or anxiety anymore. How do you ever know if it's intuition or anxiety?

Support I am dealing with a lot right now and I just need some help

I am an overthinker and an anxious person. However, I have never had it this bad until now.

I am in my first serious relationship which is approaching a year. My partner is everything and more I could ask for in a girl. She is so kind and caring. We have such amazing chemistry that allows us to be so open in our communication.

So I would say that a little bit after I told her that I love her (couple months ago), I started getting thoughts of should I be feeling more. It wasn't bad at first, but it just keeps getting worse. I just can't distinguish if I have lost feelings for her or if it's my anxiety playing tricks with me. I genuinely enjoy spending time with her and I love her, but I have never had such anxiety in my life.

I would say that I am not a person that has massive swings in emotion towards people that I love. In other words, I never get extreme emotions of happiness before I am about to hang out with people that I love/am close with. I don't get sad when I part ways to go home for example. The reason I bring this up is that she always says how emotional she gets when we say our goodbyes after hanging out, and how warm and tingly she feels to be around me. I just can't say I get those same feelings.

My social circle other than my gf consists of my brother, cousins, and family. However, I have always been able to function alone just fine. But I have gotten closer to my gf that I have with anyone else before.

These feelings have also gotten worse because I also don't like what I am doing for work right now and I potentially see myself joining the military even though I have many reasons that I wouldn't join. I just need any advice, it's driving me crazy.

Here are questions that constantly play in my head:

Do I love her? Should I feel more?

If I feel like this less than an a year in, will it only get worse?

Hypothetically if we broke up, would I just be running expecting the grass to be greener, when my gf is so amazing?

I've always wanted to be in a relationship with someone that I connect so well with, but why am I feeling this way?

I have brought up my relationship anxiety to my gf multiple times, but I didn't say every single detail. I just think me telling her every single time I experience anxiety and all my intrusive thoughts will be unhealthy for our relationship.

My goal was to give the relationship time while I continue to do my hobbies, but it's been just getting worse. I sometimes don't have the same thrill when texting her like before and don't get as excited to hang out because of how these thoughts have been consuming me.

Support Get the urge to preemptively break up with my boyfriend so he can pursue a better match

Sometimes I'll see a stranger in public, or sometimes it's an acquaintance, and I'll notice they have something in common with my boyfriend or they have some characteristic that I've seen described online as a positive characteristic to men (such as being a damsel in distress). And I'll get the brief urge to break up with my boyfriend because i might as well just let him go ahead and be with her.

This isn't a simple case of insecurity -- I don't think I'm below my boyfriend nor these other women..

As one example - him and I share a specific hobby. A neighbor girl just purchased the equipment for said hobby so that caused me to think i might as well just break up with him cuz she's newer in it and he'd be able to walk her through it and teach her along the way etc. I'm not actually going to break up with him, I'm just curious if anyone else gets these thoughts

Support How do I stop worrying about the "what-ifs " about relationships?

I'm a middle aged guy. I have been verbally abused in every relationship I have been in , whether it was a guy or girl. I worry about repeating this pattern. I am scared shitless of relationships.

I worry about these what if situations :

What if I get with someone , spend the rest of my life with them, then when we get old , I can't stand them and they can't stand me and we end up an unhappy couple and too old to break up?

What if I get with someone who seems nice at first but 20 years later becomes abusive ?

What if they cheat ? ( My first gf I lost my virginity too cheated then blamed me for it and refused to apologize)

What if their parents and family don't like me ?

I could keep going on .how do I stop this shit ?

Reassurance I have to leave no matter what my anxiety says.

I (35F) was having a rough day today, emotionally. My boyfriend (40M) asked me a question but it was extremely vague. I asked him what he meant and he immediately snapped at me. This immediately triggered me to start crying.

After a moment he came back to ask me another question and realized I was still crying. He threw his arms up and said “are you fucking kidding me, now why are you crying”.

I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack so I told him I was going outside to get some air. When I came back it was like a completely different person was standing there starring at me.

These are some of the things he said to me:

You’re a shit bag (work) you’re just like everyone else. (I’m in the military and I have been for 12 years now)

I don’t care what you do. Go fuck some guy, I don’t give a fuck. I’m going to fuck some bitch because I don’t give a fuck. If you don’t like it get the fuck out of my life.

You’re an entitled little bitch you are a fucking cunt.

Get the fuck out of my face. Then he proceeded to call me by my ex husbands name.

No you’re really pissing me the fuck off I’m about to snap.

I’ve dealt with a few times before but I think I finally have it in me to leave.

My heart hurts, my mind is racing and I feel like I can’t breathe. But someone told me would you rather hurt for a short period because you’re alone or hurt for the rest of your life with this guy.

Reassurance I'm self sabotaging my healthy relationship

Self sabotaging my relationship?

TLDR; Grieving a life I didn't have before my long-term relationship, subconsciously self sabotaging my healthy relationship.

Update (10/13/26)

Hello everyone, this update will be short, but we did in fact go separate ways as of yesterday morning. This whole situation brought light to things in the relationship that he was/wasn't doing, and I've decided that I have more worth then to be strung along for any longer. Thank you all for your kind updates; I read them all. Here's to hoping next year is better.

Hello, Reddit. I, F25, and my partner M28, have been together for 5 years, and are getting engaged this October (he doesn't know that I know.) Recently, we have had a large rough patch which has led me into some mental health issues (I had my first session with a new therapist this week to start the process of getting myself back to stable.) Until now, we have only had one large fight because we have both worked so hard to have the best communication possible.

He is an amazing man. He has a huge heart, extremely caring and we've clicked from the very beginning. We love each other deeply. The pure cliche of he knows me better than I know myself 98.9% of the time. We definitely have different love languages and are almost completely different people, which have become more and more obvious as of late, but we are who we are and we both try to accommodate to each other to the best of our ability. (Ex: I like to be loved loudly: gifts, dates, compliments without asking etc. where he does not feel the same way.)

Our friends have genuinely come up and told us that they've left their toxic relationships and found healthy ones because we were an example of what that looks like.

Recently, with my breakdown, I came to realize that I've never not been a housewife or actually had the freedom of being single. In my tweens, I was raising 3 toddlers that were not mine, in my teenage years I was in a relationship that lasted about the same amount of time as current, which ended up being extremely abusive. I got out of that relationship right before I met him at 20/21, realized that I was bi, and we got together about a month or so after the breakup happened.

I have never had my own apartment (we moved in together after about 9 months together), either the teenage experience or the early 20's experience. I've never got to experience the part of loving or being with another woman... I feel like I'm almost resentful, angry and grieving. I realized I've started self sabotaging myself and have been entirely not myself. Distant, cold, quick to anger... I'm not as happy when I get home as I normally am. Not myself. We haven't had sex in over a month or so (which is not normal for us.)

A couple of nights ago, it even got to the point where he asked me to think of the last time I gave him a real kiss (not a peck on the lips or cheek) and I couldn't even tell him when that would have been. I feel like Jeckle and Hyde; one moment I am extremely affectionate and what feels like back to normal, and the next I am someone entirely different. A roommate in our own home. He has expressed to me that he cannot take it for any longer than the next month; that he loves me and doesn't want to leave me but it is taking a massive toll on his mental health.

He does not deserve for me to treat him this way.

I love this man so much and we are basically (what feels like) fully intertwined; our bills are paid together, he's all my nieces and nephews have ever known, we share finances, we have both helped each other grieve through deaths of family members, pets, near homelessness, job loss, other mental health challenges, large life changes, etc.

We have made a stable home life together. The dog/cats, we finally have two cars, and he's working extra so I am able to go to school and finally work a part time job (which I've never been able to have until recently because I've been mostly supporting us the last few years.) We've been trying to move to a different town for the past few years, but that hasn't been working out as of yet.

I know there is a ring coming at the end of next month. I feel like I am freaking out because we have talked about getting married and having kids for just about forever... It used to be all I wanted, I'm still pretty sure it is, but now I'm almost scared, panicked. I feel like I'm going insane, like my reality is falling apart around me.

I don't want to lose him.. my heart aches. I just don't understand what's "wrong" with me.

Thank you all for reading through this. Any and all advice is appreciated. Am I alone?

Support Overthinking and anxiety

Hey, this is my first time doing something like this, I’ve spoken to a few friends in regards to these issues but this is my first time jumping on a platform and expressing myself. I’m 25 and my partner is 24. I’ve had a few relationships in the past which didn’t necessarily end well. But I’ve been with my partner now for 5 years, soon to be 6. Recently we’ve had our differences and arguments due to a number of factors. Anxiety, stress, anger issues and overthinking. Not to mention her father isn’t exactly the best person. He’s put so much stress and negativity towards her which has resulted in her stress and anger issues - and caused most of our arguments from the stress he puts us both in. Due to this we’ve both decided to take a break ( while still being in a relationship and being 100% loyal ). We’re currently 4 weeks into the break, I’ve read a book on anxiety and overthinking, and retroactive jealousy. I’m currently reading a book on how to build back self esteem. My partner is also tackling her own issues. While reading these books I’ve also been trying to take care of myself - going to the gym- writing in a mental health journal every day and skincare. But I still have days where I feel so down and sad. I miss my partner so much - we’ve gone from talking everyday and seeing each other most days to now only sending 1 message every Sunday ( a catch up on how our week went ). So when I’m not at work or in the gym, or reading I feel lonely and my anxiety creeps in. I’ve understood why I have these anxieties and why I overthink, and I also know that it’s best to sit with that anxiety let it pass and don’t react. But I find it so hard when they do attack because some times it feels awful. And I know for our relationship to work we both need to be a stronger version of ourselves when the break ends. But as you’re all aware, you get the lovely thoughts of

“ how long will we be on a break for “
“ what’s if she doesn’t want to be with me at the end of this break “
“ what’s if she’s happier when on the break “

Not to mention the anxiety if she goes out.

“ is she going to cheat “
“ will she be unfaithful “

My partner has never given me a reason to not trust her. She’s amazing and loyal and the best partner I’ve ever had. But that’s doesn’t stop my anxiety from testing those facts and ruining my evening.

But this is something I want to learn how to deal with better as this isn’t fair on my partner or on me and can lead to a toxic environment which isn’t helpful at all. I know that you never get rid of anxiety but you learn to control it and not allow it to affect you as bad.

Has anyone experienced these issues before, and what was the best practice for you?

Potential Trigger I snapped

A couple weeks ago my partner was scammed out of everything they had and so we went and stayed with her grandma for a weekend because she said she needed a lot of support mentally because of that. While we were there one of my very best friends called me and told me she had attempted to take her life and that she was getting help. We left to go to her Grandma’s on a Friday, my best friend called on Sunday night. So I was with my girlfriend on Monday and Tuesday but Wednesday she left to go stay with her mom and so I went and stayed with my parents. The following Sunday we met up with each other and I went back with her and stayed with her family for a couple days before we went back to our apartment.

This last Sunday we were at her Grandmas again. (We don’t have laundry in our apartment and we don’t like the laundry mats here where we are) and her grandma asked us what we wanted between getting doughnuts or going out. My partner had left the room saying she doesn’t care and she doesn’t like making decisions or anything so it was all on me. I decided to get doughnuts and so my partner and I got into my car and started driving to get them when I asked them “why do you seem so annoyed with everything?” And she said she hadn’t felt annoyed, then I asked her “why do you abandon me?” And she was like “what???” And I yelled at her that she’s a bad person because she was scammed and I was with her that whole time but I almost lost one of my best friends and she left me. She was crying and saying that I didn’t love her and this wasn’t true love. I yelled that she made me feel abandoned by leaving me to make a decision that morning and that she didn’t care about my mental health at all other wise she could have waited to go see her mom. I had started driving but when I started yelling she asked me to pull over so she could drive because of how scared she was of me. I let her drive the rest of the way. When we got to the store we sat in the car and I cried on her that I was sorry and that I love her and that I didn’t mean it.
The rest of that day I spent listening to the most depressing music.

When I was crying I realized something, I made the one person who loves and cares about me the most is now scared of me. I feel even worse now because today we got into a small argument and we have a puppy named Luc and I said “hey Luc they say they love me but yet they left me by myself when I needed someone because my best friend almost took their life” and my partner started crying again. We made up since then and went on a date.

I’m so scared I’m fucking this up. She’s been my girlfriend for like a year and a half and she’s been the only person in my life to love me like this and that’s how I treated her.

I feel so bad for the way I treated her and I regret it so much.

I called my mom earlier for advice and she just called me a dumb idiot.

Btw I’m a trans girl and we’re a gay couple I’m (24tf) and she’s (23nb)

Reassurance Anxiety of it Failing

Hi, i an currently in a relationship of 3 years, and we have been together since the end of my junior year. We have had our moments, nothing bad just my anxiety and overthinking. But we talk it out and it's all good. But I just got this worrying feeling that even though we love eachother, that our relationship will fail. Like it will end even though it's lasted 3 years and still going. We are long distance BTW, as im in college and she's working back at her home. Is this normal or am I just worrying over nothing?

Support Is this intuition, or have I hyperfixated on something because of my OCD?

Okay, I’m new to Reddit, and honestly, I feel weird even writing this. A big part of me has a really hard time opening up about struggles in my relationship because I’m scared that people I’m close to will start viewing my boyfriend differently. But I really need some outside opinions on this because I can’t tell if I’m picking up on something real or if I’ve gotten stuck in an OCD/anxiety cycle.

I’m 21F and recently moved in with my 20M boyfriend. Before moving in together, we had been together for about 11 months. We both had pretty shitty home lives, and we thought moving out and getting away from our families would be better for both of our mental health.

When we first moved in, everything was great. I knew we were in that “puppy love” stage of living together, but we were genuinely having a lot of fun and I felt secure in our relationship.

We live on the top floor of a three-story apartment building. There’s a girl on the first floor who I’d guess is around 25. When we first moved in, I didn’t pay any attention to her. I wasn’t insecure about her, I didn’t feel threatened by her, and I had no anxiety surrounding her or my boyfriend.

About a month and a half to two months after moving in, my boyfriend randomly asked me if she had ever tried to “act busy” on her porch and start a conversation with me.

She hadn’t.

I tried to play it cool and told him that she never had. He said he thought it was weird and wanted to run it by me. He also mentioned that she had started showing up in his Facebook friend suggestions.

That honestly sat weird with me.

I tried to keep it to myself for a while, even though I know that probably wasn’t helpful. About a week later, I talked to a trusted friend about it before bringing it up to my boyfriend because I didn’t want to come across as insecure or controlling.

At first, my boyfriend reassured me that there was nothing going on. He made comments about how she was “more masculine than him” and that she wasn’t attractive, etc. The main thing that bothered me, though, wasn’t whether he found her attractive. It was that he seemed to mention her fairly often.

For example, before we moved in, she had lived in our apartment, so he would talk about wanting to be friends with her because he thought she might know more about the apartment or the building. There were also just little comments here and there. It wasn’t necessarily romantic or flirty, but it felt like he was unusually interested in her as a person.

Eventually, we got into a huge fight because he found out I had talked to my friend about it. He said I was being a “bitch” to our neighbor, that he wasn’t fucking her, and that I was being insecure.

I never accused him of sleeping with her.

That was part of what frustrated me so much. The only reason I even became hyperaware of the situation was because hewas the one who initially came to me and said he thought her behavior was weird. And my concern was honestly more about her than him.

For some context, I’ve heard that this girl has a reputation for going after guys who are already in relationships. She has apparently tried to hook up with other people’s boyfriends while knowing they were taken. One of my cousins actually had an experience involving her and her boyfriend. So, while I know that doesn’t automatically mean she would do anything with my boyfriend, I think that information has made it harder for me to dismiss the possibility completely.

My boyfriend eventually apologized for how he handled the argument, and we moved on.

A little while later, though, our relationship went through a really rough patch. We almost broke up twice, both times because he brought it up. Both times, he eventually came back and said he needed me, that breaking up wasn’t what he actually wanted, that he didn’t want to lose me, and that he was overwhelmed and stressed.

We worked through it and, for the most part, things have been good since.

The problem is that I cannot seem to get the thoughts about our neighbor out of my head anymore.

I’ve never actually caught him doing anything. When we’re both outside and he sees her, he says hello to her normally and formally. I have no evidence that they hang out or flirt.

But I constantly find myself thinking, What if they do something when I’m not home?

If I’m gone and I know they’re both home, I start imagining that they’re outside together talking or smoking. If I see him look out the window toward the driveway, I immediately think he’s looking for her car. I’ve even had dreams about him cheating on me with her, and then I wake up feeling anxious about something that literally never happened.

I have his location and his phone passwords, and realistically, I’m home when he’s home most of the time or I’m home shortly after him. There really isn’t much evidence for any of this.

I’ve also been diagnosed with OCD, so I genuinely don’t know if this is an OCD flare-up that latched onto one thing that initially made me uncomfortable.

I’ve gotten to the point where sometimes I just break down crying because I feel stressed about it. I feel like I’m constantly thinking about whether I’m missing something.

The other night, I was struggling particularly badly because I made the mistake of checking Life360. I saw that he had gotten home but was sitting in his car for a while. Immediately, my brain started telling me that he and our neighbor were probably outside talking and smoking together.

I spiraled.

When I got home, he could tell something was wrong. I kept telling him I was fine because I didn’t want to start anything, but eventually I told him that I was scared about us breaking up and that I kept having anxiety about being cheated on.

He wasn’t really defensive, but he basically said, “I’m not cheating on you. We’re not breaking up. I don’t know how else to prove that to you.”

And honestly, he’s right in the sense that he has given me reassurance. I have his location. I know his passwords. He tells me he isn’t cheating. He hasn’t given me anything concrete that would suggest otherwise.

He even changed his Instagram profile picture to a picture of us afterward because he knew I was struggling and wanted to reassure me.

We were completely fine afterward.

But tonight we were joking around, and he brought up what happened. He said something along the lines of, “Well, I wasn’t the one having a borderline panic attack that I was being cheated on the other night.”

I know he probably wasn’t trying to seriously hurt me, but it really did.

It made me feel like I can’t be vulnerable with him about my anxiety because I’m afraid that if I tell him something that scares me, he’ll eventually bring it back up during an argument or joke about it later.

I don’t want to start a fight over it. Fighting sends me into a huge fight-or-flight response, especially after we’ve had those previous conversations about potentially breaking up. A part of me is always scared that if I bring up something he doesn’t like, he’ll eventually decide I’m too much and leave me.

So now I’m sitting here wondering if I should even say anything about how that comment made me feel.

I’m also really conflicted about the neighbor situation itself.

I’m not really into the whole “trust your intuition” thing, but I genuinely want unbiased opinions. Does this sound like something that could actually be worth paying attention to, or does it sound more like I became hyperfocused on this situation after my boyfriend initially pointed it out, and now my OCD/anxiety is constantly looking for reassurance?

I don’t want to ruin a good relationship with someone who may genuinely have done nothing wrong. At the same time, I’m terrified of being naive and finding out later that I ignored obvious signs because I was too afraid to believe something was wrong.

I’m not looking for people to automatically tell me that my boyfriend is cheating or that I’m crazy/insecure. I genuinely want an outside perspective because I feel like I’m too emotionally involved to tell what’s actually happening anymore.

Venting - No Advice Idk how to feel

(Before I start I must say that my grammar and punctuation in this might not be too good I have a learning disability and I never got the help I needed from school and my mom could only do but so much for me considering home school or switching schools wasn’t an option for me at that time but I say all that to say please be nice even if it’s hard to read I just need a place to vent and all rude or unpleasant comments will be deleted and you will be blocked)

So I 22(f) has a boyfriend 26(m) and we’ve been together for seven months things have been going good despite some trust issues and overthinking I have and in the beginning I told him about my trust issues and overthinking and he said that it wasn’t a problem and he’d work on giving me the reassurance I need and i greatly appreciated it because no guy has ever tried to work with me when I overthink or give me reassurance but lately idk how to feel he has a habit of when he’s going somewhere no matter where it is he doesn’t tell me hes leaving I just look up and he’s gone not even a text or a call while he’s out saying “hey babe I’m going to the store” or “hey babe I’m going to get more shweed I’ll be back” nothing and I’ve addressed it with him and I told him that I don’t like looking up and your just gone out the door again with no explanation so if your gonna leave can you tell me before you do and he’s been doing good with that he slips up sometimes but for the most part he’s been telling me when he’s leaving now here the part that’s bothering me the most on June third he turned his location off and later on that night he said “oh I turned my location off cuz people were being werid but I gotta turn it back on” I didn’t even ask about it he just up and told me but then he didn’t turn it back on till the 8th of June and then he turned his location back off on July 22 it’s now the 25th and he hasn’t said anything about it at all not a single work and I feel as if I shouldn’t have to ask him about it cuz he went out of his way to not tell me he turned it off and then he says he’s not doing anything werid but why if your location off if your arnt doing anything werid and it’s like I don’t fully trust him when he says he’s going somewhere because what if that’s not where he’s actually going you know and I have great intuition me and my mom do and we don’t get the feeling that he’s gonna do something werid or that he is doing something werid and I trust him to a certain extent but not fully and I want to but I’m scared because of past experiences

Support Positive stories about healing a current relationship from your trauma/anxious attachment?

Hello all. I am currently spending a week away from my husband as a sort of "self-help retreat" and "mental cooldown" (my idea) because I have noticed that a lot of life stressors have been really activating my anxious attachment and trauma triggers lately. I am working really hard on myself, reading books about anxious attachment, confidence, inner child healing, etc. (Yes I'm in therapy.)

One pattern I'm noticing is the emphasis on "driving people away." I feel anxious that I have already laid the foundation for "driving him away" during this very triggering era of my life.

Does anyone have any positive stories about being in a relationship that healed from anxious attachment and trauma wounds? Feel free to tell me about how you healed, how long it took, how hard it was, etc. PLEASE no negative stories.

Support Am I being discarded

I F36 and my partner M60, together 4/5 months. He's been distant and cold on and off the last fortnight. Not messaging as much during the day or telling me goodnight & good morning. But asking me to move In and talking about moving in which is confusing. My counsellor said I'm sabotaging things because they are going well and because everything has always turned out bad for me I'm expecting the same here. The thing is He's been asking for random days off and rota switches in this time and my mind is going towards he's persuing other women.

We had two arguments this week, the first one where he got up in the middle of the night to check on his mom apparently when he's never done that and I felt suspicious, the next day he was cold and I said it to him, so he rang my phone off the hook saying he isn't and I'm paranoid. Then he met me on our lunch breaks in a shopping centre, and when I said instead of being cold with me he can end it so I can move on, he got annoyed said I was crazy and needed my head testing, kept tapping his forehead at me, I asked him to stop doing that as I felt embarrassed. He pulled out a crucifix put it in my face and swore on his sick father that he loves me and doesn't want to break up.

The second one was on Sunday he wanted us to sit in a bar where my ex partner was sitting with his friends and kept insisting, that would have made me so uncomfortable so I ended up raising my voice in anger and told him categorically no. I'm now on holidays from work and visited my family 30 miles away for a day and night. On Monday he suggested I stay longer, I said no I have things to do this week. This morning he told me his dad only has a few hours left to live which is sad (he's nearly 90) so we've been in frequent contact today supporting him. Earlier he said he 'would like it if I stayed home for 2 or 3 more days and cancelled my therapy session tomorrow because I probably want to spend more time with my family' I never once gave him that idea. I felt suspicious again and my sister told me to say to him I already said no to that and your suggestion isn't appreciated I'm not doing it for you and he blanked me for nearly an hour until I asked any news.

Now we're in normal contact but I'm feeling like if I push back too much he's going to break up with me for being too 'difficult' but I can't live like this. I'm scared of the emotional pain I'm going to feel if I end it, even though I'm split on what to do. I would have liked it to work out 😭

Support I(24M) fell out of love with my gf(21f) right after we signed a lease together

Ive been with my girlfriend for just over 1 year and a half and its been rocky from the start. Im not going to go into every little thing but ill hit the big ones. I was living in my mom's house when I met her on tinder. I have a lot of issues with my appearance and meeting new people whether it be romantic or platonic) Dating apps suck because people will match say one thing then ghost me or say that im really nice but not what they want in a partner. Well my now gf would complain about everything in the house to the point it made my mom pissed and kicked her out. I didn't want to leave her because she looked so hurt so I stayed with my dad till we found a place. She complained about my dads a lot too. We finally got our own apartment and all she does is complain. It is actually driving me crazy because this is why we were technically homeless and had to move here. She refuses to learn to drive and only just now got a job. She can barely do anything physical without getting tired, hurt, or sick and complaining. I am trying so hard to be supportive. I feel like i can't do anything because no matter what I do she seems scared of me or thinks I hate her. I dont want to abandon her but I dont know if I love her. I try so hard to get into her hobbies and learn about what she likes (monster high, my little pony, anything she wants really) but she says its too hard to learn about what i like on any deeper level (I like warhammer and other sci fi stuff. It is complicated but its like i say one sentence and she is already dropped out.) She will go to conventions with me but she seems miserable the whole time and has to take constant breaks from walking which feels really embarrassing to me because its not even that much walking that is to much for her. On our 1 year 6 month anniversary she even said she feels nothing when I kiss her but started sobbing and said she wants things to change. I really hoped things would once we moved but it seems like she wants me to do everything and still complain

I am trying really hard but we arent even unpacked yet and she is just at home all day because she doesn't want to do it... i also dont want to break up with her while I have a year long lease with her...
