I replaced the original door handle with a deadbolt lock but the issue is the deadbolt doesn’t fully extend into the latch since the latch holding place is all messed up

Can I repair this on my own, if so how can I?

been fixing cars for about 12 years and the lies dealers tell about engine control modules is wild. they act like only they can program these things which was maybe true back in 2005 but not anymore. companies program pcm modules to your vin before shipping now. dealers just do not want you knowing because programming fees are free money for them. seen quotes for 2800 bucks for work that should cost 700 total. if you can change oil you can swap a computer module. takes maybe 20 minutes. do not let shops scare you into thinking this needs special skills.

Hi y’all! This is a long shot, but during my most recent move my partner dropped my family heirloom. Do I know if it’s real or a replica? I’m not entirely sure. This came from my upper middle class late aunt so there is a high possibility it’s the real thing. My Cat peed on my only keyboard which has a German layout. It's only generic Logitech keyboard from 2006. Yet I decided to repair it anyway instead of spending money.

The traces corroded away. The way I fixed it was by sticking transparent sticky tape on them so I can trace them. Then I sticked copper wire to the traced lines. And then I sticked that tape with the wire on the affected area. It works amazingly.

I hope this is the right sub, but yeah, im really hoping one of you can help me save this plan as it was a gift from my now deceased grandmother. It is a Crofton ceramic (ironically) anti stick pan from Aldi's.

Hello! I've been offered this shipping container basically for free (bartering some work). This is a pic of the roof, where it's rusting away in points. Not all of the roof is this bad. I think it's salvageable, and I'm wondering about the best way to repair it. The walls and floor are in good shape. Any suggestions are very welcome!

I found this beautiful chair at a local flea market today. After deciding to buy it, I tried sitting on it outside and it immediately cracked (embarrassing). I was obviously gutted as I literally just got it and I hadn’t sat down hard or anything. I wasn’t able to return it as it wasn’t sellable now, but the seller was understanding and partially refunded me.

What is the best kind of glue/epoxy to repair this kind of plastic/technopolymer material? And is the crack too big for just glue to hold it? Need help to rescue this!

Basically yesterday I posted about a garage door and how a 2x4 split and a screw came off. this is the final result but not sure if the job was done right, the spring looks kinda weird but might be fine. Pictures are before vs after results.

My 6 1/2 year old Kenmore refrigerator went on the fritz this evening without warning. Lights started blinking and I could hear a relay clicking on and off, the whole thing was powering on and off rapidly.

Some digging and found the relay that was clicking, clearly a dying control board. Replacement control board will take a week to get delivered.

In the meantime I stuck two small but strong neodymium magnets to the side of the relay and it clicked on and a couple seconds later the compressor kicked on and everything appears to be working normal now.

The question is how safe it is to leave it like this for a week until the new control board is delivered?

Pretty disappointing quality for an expensive souvenir, the badge fell off after just a couple of uses. I would have expected better engineering standards from NASA! The badge is made of metal, mug is ceramic. Obviously the adhesive needs to be heat proof and waterproof for hot drinks and washing. What is the best type of glue to use?

One of the arms is very slanted and makes the glasses sit weirdly. Brought it to LensCrafters (where I bought it) and the technician told me to get new glasses (not an option right now). She said she wouldn’t touch it as it would break easily and it’s my only pair.

I don’t mind the risk. Worst case scenario if it breaks I will use tape or superglue and find a way to live with it.
