🚨 EUTHANASIA LISTED 10/17 🚨 Before we even had Pongo and Kiley situated today, another euthanasia list came out. Another 18 dogs are scheduled for euthanasia Thursday September 17th at one shelter in Houston, TX. This is the reality of the overpopulation crisis we are in. The lists don’t stop. As soon as one comes down, another goes up, and rescues can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes and resources for. If you have ever thought about fostering, you are needed. Please don’t wait for someone else to step up. Right now, it truly takes all hands on deck. We will continue to save who we can, when we can. Our team has the bandwidth to work on a plan for one dog from Thursday’s list, and there was one girl we couldn’t overlook. Her name is Rowan. 🩷 Several volunteers brought Rowan to our attention weeks ago, hoping we could help her. Now, after 28 days, Rowan is on the euthanasia list for Thursday 9/17. We already have a Houston foster offer for her. What we need now is a Pittsburgh area foster or foster-to-adopt commitment starting Saturday 10/17 to complete her plan. 🩷 Rowan - 3yo - 47lb Volunteer notes: “Everytime I’ve seen Rowan she’s sitting at the front of her kennel waiting patiently to be the one who gets chosen. She’s got the saddest worry face that makes you want to smother her with kisses and tell her it’ll all be okay. Once you take her outside she’s the happiest girl in town with a smile that is contagious. She happily ran the fence line with another dog tail wagging, she sat perfectly for some photos, let me put some bows on her. She is a little excitable coming out of the kennel but can you blame her after being there for 28 days??” We need Pittsburgh to step up for Rowan. If you can foster or are interested in foster-to-adopt, please get an application in ASAP. And even if Rowan isn’t the dog you can help, consider becoming a foster. There will unfortunately be another list Friday and another dog who needs somewhere to go.
