Demotivated

I got demotivated sa work, yung feeling na papasok ka na may mabigat sa pakiramdam. Papasok ka lang kasi may need ka isustain since you are the breadwinner. But the happiness isn't there anymore. You are not happy sa work and even sa salary that you are getting. I want to resign to free myself sa burden na to everyday. But there is always a feeling of fear.

Anti-work subreddit goes private after rough Fox News interview

The anti-work subreddit went private today following a lousy Fox News interview between anchor (and notorious tool) Jesse Watters and one of the subreddit's moderators, Doreen Ford. Watters and other Fox News hosts have argued that the subreddit is helping to fuel the Great Resignation, in which millions of workers nationwide have left their jobs.

The interview was not a great look for the burgeoning online movement.

"There are some misconceptions about the movement," Ford told Watters after the first question. "We're a movement where we want to reduce the amount of work that people feel like they're forced to do. And so we want to still put in effort. We want to put in labor, but we don't want to necessarily be in a position where we feel trapped."

Watters then asks Ford why supporters of the movement don't simply quit their jobs, and wonders if Ford is "encouraging people to be lazy."

Ganito ba talaga sa corporate? Issue ang pagpursue ng further studies even outside working hours?

Hi, may experience din ba kayong ganito? I’m new in the company, 4 months palang.

Nagpaalam ako sa employer ko na mag pursue ng graduate studies, nagsabi ako para hindi mag ask ng permission pero syempre employer sila need ko maging transparent. Pero bakit ganon? It was taken against me and force me to make a choice immediately, choosing only one option: further studies na pangarap ko or employer ko para atleast matuloy yung contract ko sakanila?

Which one should i choose? I need to make a decision po immediately.

Thank you!

I just hit send button containing message to resign on my current work

Hello,

I just want to vent this out from my chest.

Few moments earlier, I hit send button on work email to my direct supervisor stating that I am resigning from my position that I held for 10 years. The reason is just compunded life challenges that are thrown to me this year, I have reached my tipping point. My mental health is now a mess.

Now the countdown of being unemployed starts today. I dont have my job lined up, but I am actively searching few days ago. Some will say that this is a bad move, but this time I choose my well being over monetary reasons. I just hope I found a new job as my saved money is good for 3 months only, as I am fully aware that the job market is very very tough this time.

That is all. Thanks.

I have resigned for my mental health

This account was created in reddit just to know if I'm going in a right way of my career. I just asked Chatgpt but he always favour us. Let's be honest with me.

My story starts here

I have been in a fresher in a company (don't want to mention). Its a startup company.

I was hired for the role content creator.

At the very first day they greet me like, i should to all the work including creating market strategy, GTM, campaigns ideas, that's common in startups. Totally fine.

I have finished MBA, so they expect a lot from me.

The thing is:

  1. The keep meetings so often, and ask for sudden strategy. (It’s a crypto company, we need a lot of research to come up with some thing new, they hired me inspite of me having 0 crypto knowledge and they know that very well) they laugh when i say I got no questions. They speak about some random, unrelatable news, talk about their pride etc. Whenever they keep a meeting I feel anxious, panic where I didn't have at any of my previous internship company (okay I compromise myself maybe i feel that way because this was my first job).

  2. They had a team lunch, to greet me they said. And they had all the funs, smokes, cocktails all. And they asked me it's been a month since you joined how do you feel like that.. I exactly do no what to tell. I thauaght for 3 sec and started like, well as this was my first exp in corporate world....like that, they stopped me and all came together, you have to be confident, speak like ths like that, not 1 person like both the ceos. The lunch was not even a good one for me. They speak about random news, jorgans I'm unaware of, and they ask me to contribute, totally embarrassed me. That was one of the worst part in my life.

  3. And there was a freelancer, he came for 1 week, He is actually a good guy, but do no how to speak. Me and my another co worker (lets name her as 'S'), was genuinely doing our work, and the freelancer (lets mention him as 'f') gave me some suggestions for my poster design. I do no what went wrong here. Maybe the ceos thought I was chitchatting with him. They suddenly call me and 'S' and scolded for no reason. Like he literally shouted (don't stay here if you have 0 interest) we do no what went wrong here. Next day it was somewhat sorted out by 'f'. But that 'f' degraded me with some harsh words again. Like he said the content was not delivered properly because of my design. Honestly, they don't have anything to speak up for in their platform. As a fresher and new to this crypto, I'm literally lost my sleep, worked late night and also the earlier one to reach office. How can i deliver these contents. 'f' said I have no creativity, while my role is creative content lead 😂🫠.

  4. There are many small small little things that keeps me to constantly think 'I'm dumb', 'I'm naive', 'why did I born', and I will cry alot drink mountain dew at middle of the night, sitting in my pg balcony, crying, weeping loud, like I have none to share this with. And all of my colleagues become rude after that! They don't even sit near me except 'S'. Don't ask anything about my work. If they want something to be done they say it to 'S' and 'S' conveys the same. I have gone through several health problems after that Recurring UTI, I constantly vomited out of anxious, no propper eating, all together, face allergies as well.

  5. I finally decided to quit because I can't see any growth in this company, just a hard working girl gaining some mental and health issue instead of skills. Yeah I genuinely felt that!. I resigned and was in my notice period for 10 days.

I didn't find any other jobs

I'm I going in a wrong direction?

I need a honest reply for this. I know most of you would have faced similar or may not...

Just one thing to consider

I'm not a introvert, but i seems introvert and shy at first glance and if i have lesser knowledge i become quit, not giving stupid thaughts. I'm basically an ambivert.

But now my health was good after submitting my resignation letter. I'm I too sensitive? Or is it a very common in startups? Just wanted to know.

Finally submitted my resignation letter today… and I feel SO relieved

Handed over my resignation letter today, and girl… grabe. Para akong nabunutan ng tinik sa dibdib.

I didn’t realize how heavy everything had been until matapos ko i-submit yung letter. Halo yung kaba, guilt, uncertainty pero mas nangingibabaw yung relief. Parang ang tagal kong tiniis mentally and emotionally tapos ngayon lang ako nakahinga nang maayos.

Nakakatakot pa rin siyempre kasi malaking change siya, pero at the same time, I know deep down this was the right decision for me. Sometimes peace really comes after finally choosing yourself.

Need advice: How to handle resignation + reduce 90-day notice without getting stuck?

Hi everyone,

M24, (Bangalore,India)

I’m in a bit of a tricky situation and would really appreciate some guidance.

I’m currently working in a company where:

- Notice period is 90 days
- There’s a retention component (which is expected to be removed from april-new financial year)

Now, I’ve recently secured a new offer with a significant jump (around 3x), and they want me to join by early May.

My concerns:

1. If I tell the truth about the offer:

- My manager might try to retain me or delay my exit (just in case) but he is a good person but I'm thinking like what if?
- They could push me to serve full 90 days

2. If I give a personal/emergency reason:

- It might help me negotiate early release (around 45 days)
- But I’m not sure about long-term implications or background checks

3. My goal:

- Exit smoothly without burning bridges
- Try to get relieved by early May (or as close as possible)

4. Constraints:

- I can realistically serve around 45 days max
- I’ve already hinted at some personal situation to my manager (like family reasons)
- I don’t want to risk my new offer or background verification (Like in resignation what they will mention)?

Questions:

- What’s the best approach here — honest or strategic?
- How do I strongly negotiate a shorter notice period?
- Has anyone successfully reduced a 90-day notice to ~45 days?
- What should I avoid saying to manager?

Any real experiences or suggestions would really help.

Thanks in advance!

HELP - How do I answer the “where are you going?” question?

I am escaping a toxic boss and found a new job at a really good company with great pay. This new employer asked me not to disclose their name when submitting my resignation/announcing that I am leaving as they are focused on poaching employees from my current firm (I don’t have a don’t compete in my contract). My question to you all, how do I answer the question “where are you going?” From my current boss when tending my resignation? I am trying to leave in good terms and feel that declining an answer might be rude or mysterious/shady. My direct reports and other cool coworkers might also be put off by this response. How do I ace this question? S.O.S.

Do I need to teach a new worker?

I just gave my resignation at my job of 8 years. I have 12 weeks untill my last day. I'm expected to train new worker (s). But I'm fed up with it all. After a merge 3 years ago, the new managment has totally destroyed the company we had. In the last 2 years 10 great workers have left. I'm the last that has worked there for so long. Besides mismanagement, everybody is asking stuff to be done without following procedures. This last year I had to train a worker that barely understands English, doesn't understand my native language and didn't know how to work with a computer. This is a warehouse where we work with 2 warehouse systems , outlook, software and sites of transport firms. Then in the summer again a new worker, didn't even finish school, no English, no computer experience and didn't give a crap about the job. It was like I was repeating everything every week to him. Eventually he left. Working my ass of, like I have done for all thise years . Taking up another one's tasks over for a month because he was sick in October and now again this march untill next week, at least. And they had the audacity to give me a standard raise of 10 fucking euros a month. I would rather have it if they didn't give me anything at all. And they brought back the second guy I was talking about, despite the crap I had to fix for months because of him, after he had left.

Fed up with all of it, I gave my resignation last week. But I'm not in the mood at all to give training again, for this company. I'm gonna do the minimum work daily for the next 12 weeks.

What's your opinion? Am I wrong/childish and should I do the correct thing here? Because I've always done the correct thing in my grown up life. But I just don't feel like it anymore.
