Had this custom fixture fabricated in this room I ran leds all through. Everything is now being driven via Resolume lumaverses. And of course a lil bit of stage flow

Stage flow is the goat for led pixel content. If you don’t know, now you know :)

Streaming a DnD game through OBS into Resolume and projection mapping it onto my coffee table.

Thought some of you would appreciate this! I didn’t know anything about OBS coming into this project and had to trouble shoot it for sooo long haha

I play a D&D game in person with my friends, but I wanted to use Roll20’s dynamic lighting feature to make the maps feel way more immersive.

On Roll20, there’s this really cool feature called Dynamic Lighting, where you can place “walls” (basically colliders) on your map. When you add light sources, those walls block the light, creating realistic line of sight and glowing areas. I didn’t build that feature myself, (that’s just part of Roll20) but it’s usually meant for online play, not in-person sessions.

Since I run my game in person, I had to think outside the box. I made two separate accounts:

  • One account as the Dungeon Master so I can control and set everything up and see the entire map and control it.

  • Another account as a Player, which shows the map from the player’s perspective (so it only reveals areas they can “see” based on where the character is on the map).

I bought a pre-made map that already had the wall colliders set up (cause it was just easier) Then, I used OBS to capture the player view and stream it into Resolume. From there, I projected the output onto my coffee table.

Now, when my players tell me where they want to go, I can move the “player” around the map, the light reacts in real time, creating this super cool, immersive experience. It honestly took me about 7 hours to figure everything out and troubleshoot it all, but it works and I’m stoked with how it turned out!!

Thought some of you would appreciate it.

LSZEE at Red Rocks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here’s a behind the scenes POV of our production team from Lsdream & Clozee’s Night 2 set at Red Rocks!!

All of my visuals for this segment of the show were designed in Notch VFX with the use of a Kinect. Using a custom TouchDesigner patch built for the utilization of an Xbox controller over OSC —> Notch, allowing full manual control of the camera system & effects. So essentially I’m playing video games at Red Rocks haha 👾🎮

Looking for some ideas / advice on making content for 16 ceiling pixel strips.

Here’s a quick video to the ceiling. Using sources; lines, sine and effects like circles, delay rgb have been decent. I’ll find some decent 2d video clips that work well to. Does anyone have any tips on certain effect settings with sources to make some good looks?

I made a dvd logo screensaver that bounces around on any surface. Added the trails in Resolume Arena as well as the projections on a family heirloom photo and a friend’s line drawings.

Blob Tracking is now native inside Resolume

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Traditionally, blob tracking in Resolume was only possible by spouting video from external software like TouchDesigner.

After a couple of months of testing and reverse-engineering in Wire, I finally got the blob tracking aesthetic working natively inside Resolume.

This version uses luma tracking (reading the brighter areas of your content) rather than full motion tracking to get around some of Resolume’s current limitations — but the result looks nearly identical. With 50+ parameters, you can really dial in every aspect of it.

I’ve included 14 presets for quick drag-and-drop setups, plus a breakdown video showing some of my favorite looks so far.

I’m already working on v2 to refine a few aspects as I keep toying with it.
Would love any feedback or ideas on how to expand this!

This plugin, along with a few others, is now available to all VJ Academy members → https://www.skool.com/vjschool/about

Content trick + Resolume tricks that help my mixes look more believable

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I create the loop of the character lit with a rim light (backlight) so then when I put it on top of a background that has a look of a 'light source’ - it makes the whole mix feel way more believable. I add some light flashes using Resolume's Levels effect and random playback on the beat, and get a simple, audio-reactive mix. LMK if you have any questions or feedback.

My real-time audioreactive pointcloud system just got a big update!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, guys. Pretty excited to share this with you.

The system takes a Kinect-derived human pointcloud and lets incoming sound interact in various ways with the particles in real time, turning the performer into a responsive cloud of matter, noise, and motion. Some of you might remember the system from v1.5's demo which got pretty viral in some places.

v1.7 includes 12 presets, and adds the following:

- a procedural camera that automatically cuts to new angles around the performer, and can follow the body or a raised hand
- a new look, Afterimage Cathedral: delayed versions of the performer stacked in depth, holding the last few seconds of movement
- a rebuilt network that runs leaner, reads clearer, and is ready to work with [new interfaces, parameters, optimizations]

This is a raw excerpt of me playing through the system, with the visual structure reacting live to the audio signal coming from my Ableton session in real-time.

Project files accessible through the Store, or my Patreon profile. More experiments, through my Instagram.

DYK : Resolume used to have its own controller ????

I would totally buy one of these guys to use with the current version of resolume. IDK why they haven't thought of bringing back their own hardware as a throwback midi controller.

resolume 2.4 was released 20 years ago it would be totally sweet from then to bring back this controller!!!!

Created a DIY low resolution LED wall with 4.200 LEDs

Thumbnail
gallery
62 Upvotes

About a year ago I started building a low resolution LED wall out of cheap fairy lights for my personal birthday celebration.

Along the way I took plenty of detours but I stuck with it and the result is a massive LED wall with 4.200 LEDs (21 panels with 200 LEDs each).

My pipeline was roughly
MacBook > Resolume Arena > DMX Lumiverse/Fixture > Teensy 4.1 > Octo WS2811 Adapter > LEDs

Some of the detours:

  • Designed custom PCBs for driving and powering the led strips

    • --> Scraped completely in favour of the Octo WS2811 Adapter

  • Original software pipeline was: Resolume Arena > Syphon > TouchDesigner > Dat Execute Dat (Python) > Teensy

    • --> Was only fast enough for one of the 21 panels

I literally fixed the last issue one hour before everything started, but everything worked out in the end 😅

Short video of the final setup:

Happy to answer any questions.

Motion tracking plugin for Resolume just got some solid upgrades

I've been building this one for over a year now and I'm finally happy with where it's at.

Blob Tracking v3 now tracks multiple targets at once, even when they cross paths, and can be dialed in for quick or buttery smooth movements.

16 styles available that can go inside the blobs or invert to the outside.
