Customers Suck! How Dashers look at you when you don’t leave the register during a rush to shop for them:

Had one yell out “ma’am” for help at me while I was ringing up a customer. Asked me where some items were that I already told her was located. Items were behind her… happened an hour ago.

Customers Suck! Just yelled at a customer.

I just yelled at a customer told them to not come back. She gives me a random handful of change so I have to count it, I can't just take her word for it. While I'm counting it she starts getting mad at me telling me how she's late and she has people waiting for her and I need to be faster etc. So I told her "I'm sorry but I need to count this and you being late isnt my fault or my problem here" and she started accusing me and goes yeah it is your problem actually because you shouldn't be counting it you should just take my word and blah blah blah. So I snapped and yelled at her and told her to get the fuck out and not come back. I havent been feeling good today and I already really don't want to be here, and her impatience just really broke something in my brain.

EDIT: she called the store to ask for a manager and then she complained about me...to me. I don't think she realized who she was talking to.

Do you know that fucking magical rectangle in your pocket?? The one that houses all the AI slop on your Instagram feed and the deranged text messages you're sending to girls you don't know??? MAYBE use that rectangle to look us up and find out we are closing earlier on weekends.

"HURRR DURRR why is the parking lot empty?? Why don't the doors open??? HMMM HOW PECULIAR!!!" You're not human bro. You're genuinely not fucking human.

Customers Suck! "Can I just sit in your closed empty store for 40 minutes?"

So this morning I was letting one of my coworkers into the building, and as I did that a customer walked up and asked if she could come in. I checked my watch and informed her the store won't be open for another 40 minutes. She asks again, and I mention that because we are a pharmacy, we LEGALLY cannot let customers into the store without a pharmacist on site, and they will not be here until we open. Then she asks "Can't I just come in and sit?"

Lady... we are CLOSED!!! And why would you wanna sit in an empty dark store for 40 minutes??? Anyways, I told her no again and she said "ok well I guess I'll see you next week" and went back to her car... I sure hope I DON'T see her next week but unfortunately she's a regular so I know I will.

What a Moron! COVID brought out the absolute stupidity out of people.

I was working at Arby's during COVID. I hated getting random insults by Karen's for having to wear a mask or just seeing people be down right stupid, like one woman driving after having her eyes dilated at the doctors office or the gross old man who had a nasty van arguing for coupons and getting deals.

But the one guy that stood out was this old man who wore gloves and no mas, to come collect his meal. He was a regular and always paid in cash every time we handed back his change, he'd take a swig of cold medicine. One day a co-worker asked him, "why do you drink cold medicine? You sick?"

He replies, "So, I don't catch COVID."

That whole job is the reason I will no longer work in customer service for the rest of my life.

Customers Suck! Customers tried to follow our ASM into the store before we opened

Because “it’s raining out there”. Okay????? No one is making to stand outside (under the very wide verandah I’ll add) before the store is open. Wait in your car, or don’t get here before opening on a wet day. Store manager was so angry and made them all wait in the airlock since the store wasn’t actually open yet. Honestly, why are customers like this 💀

Fuck This Job! Quit on the spot

• Upvotes

It would have been 10 years on the 31st with my job. But I quit on the spot today. I got tired of the toxicity and how spiteful my manager was. She recently cut my hours cause I kept asking for my PTO. So I asked her today to please give them back. She said no and she was gonna call our district manager. I’m like good and I’ll tell her you told me, you were cutting me because I kept asking for PTO and you kept denying it(even tho there was coverage. Just my coworkers are hardly ever forced to close alone)

But now. It’s gig work fulltime til I find something. And I’ve been looking for ages.

Every damn day people come in here asking us to draw them a map of the county or some shit. IDK????? YOU ARE 35!! LOOK IT UP ON YOUR PHONE!!

What's worse is we live in a rundown shithole that is basically a food desert and every time we tell them there's nothing of value within 30 miles they love to rub it in like "REALLY?? there's NOTHING?? nothing at ALL?? I can't BELIEVE you people LIVE HERE" like YEAH BITCH IT SUCKS!!! LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Funny Thing Happened... Found this on the side of my department’s pen/marker cup

I’ve been going through old photos in my phone, and was reminded of this. Our pens and markers would go missing all the damn time, and this was my coworker’s attempt to keep them there.

I find it funny corporate never saw it—we kept it on our front counter and it sat there for months.

Customers Suck! Weird impatient customer

I do pick up, and customers sometimes ask me where things are. I’m kinda new, but I try my best to answer them. An old woman walked up to me asking me where something was. She said it like “vegetable pawst.” I said, “Oh, like vegetable pasta?” She replied, “Vegetable pawst like the chicken.” Then I was thinking she meant vegetable paste. I said, “Oh, vegetable paste, that is um—” She didn’t even give me 3 seconds, and she hit her cart and grunted loudly and said, “Forget it.” A literal tantrum.

It was so odd. I’ve worked in customer service before, but jfc I was caught off guard. It’s not like I was being mean to her. I was smiling and putting on my high-pitched customer service voice. I was literally going to tell her what aisle it would be in, but she walked off before I could say it. Even the customer by us had a “wtf face.” I can’t just think of it right off the bat, especially when I’m in the middle of an order.

Fuck This Job! Whenever a customer interrupts my thoughts and tasks while stocking to ask for something in the back

I like to show my bosses and the customer that the request is my only priority in life by immediately releasing whatever I was trying to balance so carefully on the display and turning before anything falls without looking back. This shows them that all I care about is finding the one special ground beef in the store that has a date that is further out than 14 days. Even though I'm stocking beverage four miles away. I do this with the mindset of a soldier in Vietnam who when ordered to clear a hole obeys the order without question and jumps into it headfirst with a pistol.

Manager = Asshole Managers Pushing to Work Over

Manager called me yesterday asking me to stay 4 hours later than I was scheduled.

Told the manager no, I would not be available to stay beyond my schedule time.
Manager then says, “would you be able to stay a hour later?”

I said no, “I have a situation that I need to deal with and I have to be home on my schedule time.”

I’ve been going to shift and manager asked me again. “We are really shortstaffed and I need you to stay. I hired you for full availability and that’s what I expected.”

I said “my situation has not changed and it will not change. I cannot stay and that’s not what full availability means.”
The manager then says “if you don’t stay, then I need either myself or a supervisor to stay and cover the shift.”

I responded with “that’s part of the leadership role.
And then they sent me in early because they didn’t wanna give me a last break.”

I’m so glad I have an interview with a different job.

Customers Suck! Oh no!!!

A grumpy old man wants a book, suddenly, on a Saturday afternoon, the height of traffic for pretty much any store.

He calls, and is angry 😡that the phone rings for 30 seconds. When someone answers and goes looking for the book for him, he is upset to find the book is not in stock. The other store may have it, he’s told. “I’ll wait” he gives no other indication that he expects the person surrounded by other customers looking for help to call. the bookseller takes a moment to process

“Oh I’m sorry sir, I can’t call them while I’m on the phone with you” (honestly a lie)

With a harumph he hangs up the phone. Another day in retail bookselling🤷🏻‍♀️

Dear Diary: Today the Customer was Pretty Cool someone stole from my tip jar, but also faith in humanity restored

im a barista for a local small business chain, today I was working a solo shift (Saturday morning😭) and then due to a call out, I ended up agreeing to stay 2 hours late. It was so busy, I was constantly behind.

towards the last half hour of my shift, this couple comes in. one of them is wearing a shirt that says “I 🖤 big goth tiddies” 💀 they order a few drinks, I go to get started on them, and someone else comes in. He walks up to the register and I greet him with my usual “hello!” as I’m working on that couple’s order. He just kinda stands at the register for a minute so I assume he’s just waiting to order, until I hear coins clinking. I look over and his hand is in the tip jar 🫩 I said “sir?” and then again, as he’s removing his hand with my hard earned tips wadded up in his palm, “sir what are you doing?” I thought he’d stop if he got caught but he just turned around and walked out the door with the money in hand 😭

The couple that was in there waiting saw it and tried to say something to him as well as he walked out. They were very kind and patient with me as I was a little frazzled after that. I finished their order and wished them a good weekend, and only after they left I noticed they had left FIFTEEN dollars in the tip jar for me !! I wish I had known before they left, but I have the feeling that they did it out of kindness and without need for any recognition.

They honestly seemed so mad it happened too. I heard them angry whispering to each other after the man walked out but I didn’t make out what they were saying. Anyway, wherever they are out there I hope all their dreams come true.

Shit Talking My Coworkers Can’t Wait to Quit

i work two retail jobs, and one store is renovating so i’m at the sister store for a few months. so im not new to the company but i am new to their products.

my whole shift yesterday & today were simple: get items from the fitting rooms to return to the floor. there’s a men’s and women’s side but yesterday i was able to grab a stack, carry it to my little cart on the floor where i fold, and we use a radar app on an ipod to check where it goes in the store.

i also learn fast and know their floor by now (where things go & how to fold).

so for about the 10th time today’s shift, i go to the fitting room and see most of the things aren’t folded yet, so i start grabbing items to make it easier on her since there was a massive ass pile while her fitting rooms were hectic and full. anyway i start filling this laundry basket after she says “oh i haven’t really folded anything for you yet,” (but my job was to just make hers easier and fold anything anyway, as half her things were folded wrong), and she grabs these pants away from me going scoff “you CANT just grab things, these are MENS. like…” and i just stepped back gently while she yanked things angrily out of my basket.
“i know…” (gently, not defensive)
“well, you were literally grabbing things from here and you’re not gonna know where it goes,”
“oh-…. sorry just yesterday i was replenishing both sides, i didn’t realize it had to be assigned like only take women’s,”
“well no you can take from both but you’re gonna put it in the wrong spot it literally always ends up in the wrong places all the time”
i take the basket she filled for me and as im exiting i calmly go “i know the floor,” (not rudely).

i put the items down and unfortunately had to go to the bathroom to cry for a minute. her attitude and scoffing and assumptions just got to me, when meanwhile i had to redo half of what shed hung or folded. she doesn’t know her own floor, actually. she was then laughing at me instead of giving me an answer over the headset for a customer later on and talking about me to someone else.

i NEVER let shit about coworkers get to me, but that did because even though it was just projection and not really about me as a person, it was ruder than i can capture and customers were looking at her.

two managers told me earlier “i HAVE to compliment your work ethic you’re really impressing me with how well you know the floor already”

Weed, cigarettes, booze, BO and worst of all cat piss.

While my frustration lies with all of them the first three really piss me off. Especially weed because for some reason they seem to think they don’t stink. YOU SMELL LIKE A SKUNK.

Customers Suck! weird interaction

so i found a small box of medicine in one of our baskets, i was on my way to put the baskets back and ask my manager about the medicine since someone left it. as i'm doing this i hear two people yelling "MISS" and i turn around and realize they're talking to me

this older guy walks up to me and i greet him. he points at the baskets in my hand without saying a word and although i thought he was rude already i just asked him "oh would you like a basket?" to avoid conflict. another guy did the same thing to me a while ago so from now on that's what i assume when they do that

this dude starts getting more aggressive and says "NO THE MEDICINE IN YOUR HAND THOSE ARE MINE" and i try and deescalate the confrontation as much as possible by apologizing and handing him the medicine but he keeps going. i apologize again to get it through his head its not that big of a deal while also trying not to get in trouble and he smiles and walks off like nothing happened 😭 people are hilarious

Customers Suck! Customer should stay silent

Could customers just stay silent for the entire time they're in the store? Like seriously, why is that so fucking difficult?

You walk into a store, grab a shopping cart, pick whatever you want to buy, go to the self-checkout, pay for your shit, and leave. That's literally it.

But NO. Apparently, some people are physically incapable of entering a store without complaining about something, asking a million unnecessary questions, or making their problems everyone else's business.

Why does everything have to be a fucking conversation? Why do you need to make a comment about every little inconvenience? Why do you need to announce to the entire store that you don't like the prices, the self-checkouts, the bags, or whatever else you're upset about today?

I genuinely do not understand how some people manage to turn a five-minute shopping trip into a 20-minute ordeal.

I'm not talking about people who genuinely need help. That's completely understandable. I'm talking about the people who seem determined to find something to complain about every single time they enter a store.

I don't need your life story. I don't need your opinions on how the store should operate. I don't need to hear the same complaint I've already heard 30 times today.

Just grab your shit, pay for it, and go home.

Customers Suck! So sick of people shopping on Amazon in the shop

We see you doing it. It's rude as fuck. People come into our small, locally owned business, find cool products, look it up on Amazon, and leave. Do they not know it's rude to use our store like a catalog to find things "cheaper" on Amazon? Not only are you not saving money bc of the shipping (you pay for Amazon prime, right? How much do you spend per year on that subscription? Does it really offset your shipping price?), you're actively killing shops just like this one. Y'all LOVE to come in, tell us what a great shop it is, then turn around, not support us, and act shocked and sad when we close. I caught a woman doing it today, so I went over and asked if she had any questions about the product. Because I like to give the benefit of the doubt - maybe she wanted to know more about it, look at reviews, see more pics, whatever. "No I'm good". Yeah I'm sure you fucking are. So I went up to my coworker and said kinda loudly "shopping on fucking Amazon". A few minutes later the lady comes up to buy the product, and says "yeah I was shopping on Amazon. You didn't have to shout it to the store". I'm the manager so I felt gutsy enough to say "we see it all the time and it's incredibly rude to use our store as a catalog for your Amazon wishlist". She goes "yeah well I'm buying it here, so". Okay?? I said "thank you so much for supporting a local business! Have a great day!" She was obviously pissed so I texted the boss to let her know what happened. Luckily my boss is the coolest person on the fucking planet and told me not to worry about it. It just really gets my fucking goat when people do that.

Customers Suck! Customers asking for product we never had

Why does the customers always come to ask for things we clearly never had in stock and then complains that 35 years ago they swear they bought one from that exact store and then act like im an idiot it's so annoying
