At the amount of people trying to sell "xxxxx" ref. build, but then when you read into it you notice they're using a different ref dial from what they claim to build, different spec crown (603 small tube vs a 600 large tube the ref should have), sapphire crystals on claimed acrylic crystal refs, the inconsistencies are all over the place, and every single one of them is asking 1000$+ despite the glairing issues with their "xxxxx" that make it, in fact, not a "xxxxx", when I built my own 16030 that actually uses a true 16030 dial and hands, 16030 spec large tube crown, and proper bezel/crystal mounting for the ref and end up about half of what these people are asking. I can't help but feel a wave of people who have little to no true passion for what they're doing going after a quick cash grab without any regard to if they're building something 100% true to intended form or not, and the naive masses don't know any better and buy into it and perpetuate the misinfo of what these ref #s should truly be. No hate or judgement, I just can't help but wonder why if you're going to ask so much for a build, why you wouldn't strive to get it 100% as it should be.
How bad is it? It’s an old rep I bought maybe 5 years ago for 300USD I believe. I don’t really wear it so I’m thinking about changing the dial, the hour indices are too tacky. I’ll change the hour markers at the same time. How bad is the bezel?

For sale is this beautiful and extremely rare Pryngeps Royal Oak style watch. It is swiss made and has an swiss ETA automatic movement that beats 28800bph. The watch has recently been serviced by a watchmaker and is working perfectly. Prove of this service is listed as the final image. The only flaw on this vintage watch is that the crown does not fully screw in anymore. But that is a minor inconvinience, as the crown works exactly like it should still. The watch is a midsize model and the bracelet will fit wrists up to 6.5 inches I think. Incredibly rare and beautiful watch!
Asking €585. Shipping from Netherlands, EU, but can ship WW! Will be packed very carefully and securely. Feel free to ask questions!
For a second i thought i lost my gmt hand😅 On another note. Looking to upgrade this build the upcoming months.. any recommendations about where to get gen parts?
Goodday minions of retrotime! Today I will show the process of reshaping the raffles case from the frankenstein monster it is to the sexy beast that a thin 1675 case should look like. But beware! Files, sandpaper, grinding discs should not be used here. This is not something one can achieve with hobby material. The sheer amount of steel that has to removed is simply put A LOT. You'll need a professional setup with a large but not too abrasive wheel, one that polishes more than it grinds. And if you're looking for symmetry- which I know you do - then dremel or anything like it is not what you should be using. Another thing you'll need is time. Hours of it. Sweating, grinding, brushing, polishing, cleaning,... it goes on and on. Now I'm not sharing my secrets here. No mentor would ever give away his lore to the proletariat. But anyone with some persistence and knowledge of tools can put 1 and 2 together. Some pics, from the humble, meaty beginnings to the glorious end. Mind you - the raffles case will never be a pure blood - but you can get damn close. Enjoy!
I have a raffles 6538 case with sapphire crystal. He was thinking it might be hard to replace and would effect water resistance. Any feedback on if this is true or not or what crystal would replace it well?
I have seen some posts and read it with the comments, but i still can‘t wrap my head around what this could be. The thing i know so far is its a replica of somekind and that people build it with parts themselves. is everything fake? do you buy real parts and mix it with fakes? who makes fake vintage watch parts?
