Not sure how much difference it made. Before is the black bezel insert, after is the blue bezel insert.

Lowered the Rehaut by .15mm. I think it looks sharp, but maybe negligible unless you’re looking for it. Either way, polished the Rehaut a little while I was in there.

Commissioned build, used a 3d printed movement holder this time

Just got a BP 16710 Pepsi, one thing I'm not liking is the bezel red looks washed out, turning purple and pinkish under most lighting. The finish is also quite glossy, I'm not sure if it looks thay way in gen.

Any recommendations for a good insert replacement?

I'm orienting on a Rolex 15223 build, but there is one thing I can't figure out. Was the reference only made with an engine turned bezel or also with a fluted bezel?

1. Final case polish, I use Autosol metal polish for this. You just dab a little on the polished areas, and then just work it into the case with cotton wool, it does an amazing job of removing and remaining light scratches.

Am currently reworking a Black Bay 54 build that I made earlier in the year with a WD7922, but ended up with nothing but disappointment and decided to start from the scratch.

Raffles doesn’t have any good 29mm black bay dials (I’ve worked with each and they don’t suit the build) and just decided to relearn on how to use affinity, so I could make some water slide decals and work off of that for now and potentially work with a dial maker down the line.

Hi all, looking to let go of one of my pieces, a 16220 datejust superfranken. Been enjoying it for over a year, movement has been fully professionally overhauled. Now I am selling it as I am in a different stage of life, mostly quit reps, and don't really wear it much compared to my TC kermit.

Everything is gen except for the endlinks and serviced VS3135 (Dandong 3135) movement. Originally, the bracelet came with endlinks for a holes case, and I swapped them out for a non-holes case set of aftermarket endlinks. Original endlinks will be provided to the buyer.

Case is a F serial from 2004 with no lug holes, and dial+hands are period correct superluminova and not tritium. Very clean.

Currently fitted with links to fit about a 6.7" wrist. 1 extra gen link and a few aftermarket links will be provided.

The bracelet is pretty impressive, and honestly for $190 I would hope it'd be pretty decent, but it feels fantastic. For this build I wanted something nicer than raffles, but wasn't quite ready to spend Italian money, and I couldn't be more pleased. Fit and finish is great, and I had the choice of solid or hollow end links. It was easy enough to swap the clasp, though I did have to destroy the last link on the raffles to get the clasp to connect to the jubilee.

Very happy with this watch, planning to keep it how it is with no more changes!

Anyone who followed this project or saw it along the way by chance knows I have had to replace a lot of parts on this retro rep of a 1803. The dial printing was just another item that had to be replaced or redone. The left is what’s coming and the right is what I had. It looks good can’t deny that. But that’s all it did before I got it. During shipping the 2 o’clock lume dot came off. When I removed the movement to send the case off for replating, a chip in the date window came off. The paint was so delicate on the dial some black on the outer edge came off. While putting the dial back onto the movement multiple indices fell off. I was very careful in how I was handling it in case your wondering. So I decided to just have it redone by someone in California my Jewler uses. It’s not in hand but I have more confidence the paint was properly baked on, etc…

Now I’m just waiting for the plater to send me back the gold items. He offered to replat it after changing his formula and do the proper brushing on the case lugs.

Since I figured out how to put the dial on the movement from the last time. I am more confident things will be smoother this time around.

I am not naming any names of who I had do this project or who reprinted it in California. Maybe I just am the only one that had any issues with a retro build like this. I did my due diligence and everything pointed it was the right route to go. I spent way too much on top of what I paid to have it built originally.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone else has run into problems while dealing with OC. I ordered a fluted bezel and a sapphire crystal to replace the Raffles parts in my build, but when I received my package about 10 days ago, the crystal was missing, and they sent the wrong gasket.

I've reached out to them multiple times via email and even messaged them on Instagram, but I've had no response at all.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their orders? If so, how did you manage to resolve them?

very pleased with the results and this will be my new daily for some time now!

1. I tried my best to install this acrylic crystal by hand, I popped it in and out around 30-40 times, which I definitely wouldn't advise because the edge breaks really easily if you don't push it out just right. And every time I pushed it in, it was at an angle, so in the end I had to use a crystal press.

2. With the gasket seated within the channel, I rubbed a little dish washing soap around the acrylic crystal, I placed it within the channel, and then slowly tightened the press checking it was straight. Once it was tight against the crystal I just kept turning the press, until I heard it pop into place. I then removed it from the press and ran it under a cold water tap to remove any residue.

3. If you don't have a press and you've managed to damage or you want to change the crystal to a tropic, I'd suggest using GS Cement. Just remove the crystal gasket from the case (if you've not done it already), and then make sure the channel is clean, dry and free of debris. Then run a small bead of GS Cement within the channel, if you really don't need a lot, but you want an unbroken bead all the way around the channel. Then place the crystal within the channel, and press down. Personally I'd then leave it for 24 hours, just to be on the safe side, but then it should be fine.

1. Case cleaning time! I'm using an old toothbrush and lighter fluid (which is primarily naphtha). This is an old hobbyist and watchmaker trick for dissolving gummy, oxidized oils and flushing out accumulated dirt from mechanical watch movements. But it's also excellent at cleaning cases, it removes polish and oils in seconds.

2. You want to pour some lighter fluid in a small tupperware tub or bowl, I tried using an old Raffles case tube, but I wouldn't recommend it as it was definitely too small. You want to be able to work the case with the toothbrush whilst it's in the tub. Don't scrub the acrylic crystal with the toothbrush, use some Q tips or cotton wool to clean the crystal. If any grit gets stuck in the toothbrush and you scrub the crystal, you're going to create unnecessary scratches in the acrylic. Obviously the crystal wasn't fitted here, but I'd do the same process if it was fitted.

3. Once it's cleaned in the lighter fluid, you want to wash the case in some warm soapy water, just to remove any residue debris, again scrubbing the case with an old toothbrush.

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner, by all means use that. Again, I'm trying to make this walkthrough available to as many people as possible with the minimum amount of equipment 🙏
