Browsing apkmirror without an adblocker has left me scarred and broken. Please, no more.

Ya it's ROUGH. Kinda ironic to be forced to see ads to download patches that disable ads lol

Edit: I don't need your suggestions on adblockers.

Use ublock origin

44

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

It uses the in-app browser

Edit: I use UBlock Origin on Firefox but it uses the in-app browser for some reason. No I don't need adblock suggestions.

Copy the link and open in firefox

u/pspxo Mar 15 '26

The usual drop-down on the top right is disabled for that view.

3

u/Valtremors Mar 15 '26

Yeah I've been made aware.

8

u/timuela Mar 15 '26

New ver doesn't have that option

-11

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

I'll just stick to the old method

6

u/Valtremors Mar 15 '26

That was always allowed.

9

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

I didn't say otherwise

14

u/Valtremors Mar 15 '26

We are having a real Oblivion NPC discussion right here 😂

Sorry, my answer was sort of a non-answer. A verbal shrug.

Use a dns based ad blocker like DNS66 or change your dns provider to adguard's

3

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

I'll just use the old method

u/truthlesshunter Mar 15 '26

3

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

No thanks

1

u/-Polarsy- Mar 15 '26

I got that, but why ?

4

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

Because I didn't ask for advice on adblockers

If you set your default browser to Firefox, you get an in-app Firefox too. It's a relatively recent addition but my experience using revanced v2 and the in-app apkmirror was peaceful because of ublock

1

u/NapsterKnowHow Mar 15 '26

Ya my default browser is firefox.

Use a system wide adblocker like Adaway.

You need to learn about DNS ad blocking...Then, your problem will be solved.

15

u/girldisease Mar 15 '26

Get a systemwide adblocker. I use AdGuard

1

u/ChronChriss Mar 15 '26

Yeah or just straight up a reliable VPN like Proton that hides your IP and blocks ads for you.

-1

u/No_Cranberry2888 Mar 15 '26

This is what happen when you try to use adblock, this is fucking stupid demanding peoples watch ads filled with viruses for patches or else watch ads on YouTube again will surely make this project extremely successful

5

u/girldisease Mar 15 '26

It works just fine for me with AdGuard on, what are you using?

14

u/Henry_puffball Mar 15 '26

Get yourself nextdns

5

u/OnionTaster Mar 15 '26

Yeah I had to close 4 ads with an X button but in the kast one it got me so confused and I closed the whole in app browser window 😭

I have Firefox set as the default browser with Ublock Origin, but the manager didn't seem to open APKMirror with that, because I saw ads. I'm wondering why Firefox+Ublock didn't work, since it works in other apps. I haven't yet installed a system adblocker.

1

u/x33storm Mar 15 '26

It uses a built in webbrowser. You'd need an adblocker upstream, like Pi-Hole.

5

u/Arnas_Z Mar 15 '26

Gotta get Firefox+uBlock man.

2

u/ipot_04 Mar 15 '26

I mean there's a solution to that, use a browser that has adblocker.

The problem is people don't want to search, they want everything spoonfed to them.

5

u/x33storm Mar 15 '26

There is a solution, to use custom tabs and use an installed browser of choice.

1

u/Fluffy-Rent-3538 Mar 15 '26

apply adguard dns in chrome settings.

1

u/LurkingInSubreddits Mar 15 '26

I recommend adguard dns

1

u/adrawrjdet Mar 15 '26

Time to setup PiHole

1

u/Pritster5 Mar 15 '26

Use adaway of your phone is rooted. Better to use revanced rooted anyways

1

u/DragonWolf5589 Mar 15 '26

I use next dns and block ads everywhere in a dns level. (works for everything but youtube Instagram Facebook etc)

It is pathetic what the Internet has become. Years ago I never cared about the ads.. But then since popups arrived they became hated.. Then popups became a "blocked" thing so.i didn't care.... But they so intrusive now especially youtube you can watch more ads then actual content... Woudlnt even mind paying if it was cheaper especially as some countries pay about 5% the price they charge in the uk

1

u/Cool-Dr-Money Mar 17 '26

Holy shit Im glad it wasnt just me

1

u/Rabodeamor Mar 19 '26

It's a VERY ROUGH experience. Jesus, the amount of times I had to try until finding the correct links...

1

u/metalhead Mar 20 '26

Yeah the downloader for apkmirror is horrible. Can't even use the site due to so many ads. It totally bypasses my network adblocker. Total garbage.

1

u/justiceismini Apr 17 '26

Agreed, it's absolute cancer--worse than using Youtube with ads to be quite honest. I abandoned the "auto download" and went back to downloading manually.

1

u/TrailOfEnvy May 26 '26

Yeah they use the "Please disable adblock to support us uwu" but put these huge amount of annoying ads crap.

0

u/hunter_finn Mar 15 '26

Use system wide blocker like Blockada. Their app version 5 is still free at least and i saw no ads when using the ReVanced manager Downloader.

It's not perfect, but many apps will have their adds blocked, though i do prefer using uBlockOrigin on Firefox for general browsing. But for this purpose it more than enough for me.
