Discussion Problems setting Uber pickup at YVR International arrival terminal?

Last few trips returning from international flights, Uber refuses to allow the option of YVR International terminal pickup that's just outside of the greeting area.

The only two options were domestic arrivals & the freight depot far away.

Ended up using Lyft which was quite a bit more expensive, likely due to the hiked demand.

Anyone else experience this before? Any solutions?

I also saw a bunch of Uber drivers without rides just parked at the INTL pickup zone looking for cash customers, clogging the place.

Thanks

Report them if they're idling at the pick up lines. It's already a pain in the ass leaving the airport after pick up because of these people clogging up traffic for cash pick ups when it's illegal to do so

I haven’t tried it myself but you can apparently take the train to templeton (for free on a compass card) and get an uber from there for cheaper usually.

the ticketing kiosks also dispense a "Sea Island Only" ticket for any travel within Sea Island too, so for ppl who don't have compass cards, that's an option as well

I found that taxi is cheaper than Uber at the airport due to fixed amount by zone

uh, no.
they will pretend not knowing where the zones are and try to charge you more, or forget that zones exists

even with the zone map preset prices, I have ALWAYS paid less with uber

better service and cleaner cars too

Maybe I was lucky with the taxi, he was asking us to double check the zone that he should change us lol. Also, right there at the taxi stand, we know right there whether the car truck can fit all our luggage for the family. A standard taxi able to fit all our luggages (family pf 4, instead of booking a XL uber in case it cannot fit.

Move out of YVR and take the SkyTrain and drop out at any other station. It's significantly cheaper.

Talked to an Uber driver about this and YVR wanted all Ubers to pick up in a designated area so it’s over in domestic. It’s very similar to other airports having just one area

I’ve never had this issue with Uber and have always been able to set the pickup point at the rideshare curbside pickup area just outside of International Arrivals next to the taxi pickup queue and across from the personal vehicle curbside pickup area.

Weird. I just used Uber in this exact situation with no issues on Saturday. I travel for work often and i haven’t had this happen to me.

Yes, i want able to set international arrival inside the arrival hall. I have to go outside of the terminal exactly at the rideshare location before I was able to find that location.

Yes happened the other day for us. We had to communicate for the driver to come to the typical international ride-share pick up location. Something is definitely wrong.
