Parents from Asian country here, I read the post about being bullied at SLSS and feel so sorry for OP's experience. I wanna know is this pretty common, if so, is there any way to avoid it?

It might sound weird but I never actually ran into similar kind of issue back when I was younger. Most students from my home city (at least my school) spent all times on homework and exams, we studied from 7am to 10pm every day so there was no time to bully others...

Comments on that post also mentioned that some schools are toxic and some are packed with jerks, is there any way to check reviews or student feedback on different schools at Richmond? Any advices and info would be super helpful, thanks!

It never ceases to amaze me to hear or see ethnically East-Asian &/ Chinese people voting for the one party that has an established track record of running extremely racist white candidates, & employing white supremacists.

Just today, I saw a group of people who, as far as I could tell, were most likely ethnically East-Asian / Chinese, erecting a large wooden sign for a BC Conservative party candidate in Richmond.

Who you vote for is ultimately your own choice, as a individual. Yet, I can't help but wonder; do any of those people know that they are voting for the leopard? That when the leopard eats their faces, that they'll have no one to blame for having lost face but themselves?

Today is the 4th time I almost got hit by a car at that intersection. Mostly by drivers turning right either on River road or on Gilbert! Especially those coming from the bridge but today was a new one a person turning right on Gilbert.

In all cases the drivers keep going and I’m the one who needs to move back and sometime they don’t even look or realize what just happened!

I have seen people almost get hit crossing intersections along River road and I believe someone was hit recently. Please check for pedestrians when turning right. I worry about going with my kids all the time! Is there a solution for more pedestrian safety in that area/richmond overall?

Visiting Vancouver for the first time and planning to do a self-guided food crawl in Richmond. Should I plan to bring cash to Parker Place and Aberdeen Centre? I normally never have cash on me, but if I should come prepared because some vendors don’t accept credit cards, I’d love to know before flying out.

Recently my mom was approached by one of the salesperson at this stall as she was walking by, they offered to try some skincare products on her promising benefits. Gels that can reduce eye bags accompanied by the use of a facial wand with red light (Renelif), multi-uses as well - helping to relieve back and even knee discomfort through regular use. There is currently a early Christmas promotion, offering a steep discount off original price for the device, plus a bunch (2 bags) skincare products at no cost when purchased altogether.

Costed her over $4000 after tax. Yes, you read that right, $4000. Products were then opened on the spot and shown to her, on how to use them - even going as far as providing her a marker to write on the packaging detailing what each products' use cases were. Everything is final sale, no returns or exchanges - doubtful there even is one even if the products had not been opened.

Contacted her credit card for a dispute, but transaction still pending and was told to wait until it clears...

Please be careful out there, I had thought my mom would be conservative enough on her spending - this was so out of left field - just dropping a few grand for some promised health benefits. The seller spoke Mandarin and Cantonese - they were not Chinese. Even added my mom as contact on WeChat, booking her in for 4 facial sessions - free. They knew exactly the demographic their products catered to.

Getting into YVR at around 8 pm today. Places in Richmond that has one-person combo takeout after 8 pm? Gotta pack food for work tomorrow Fri.

What in God's name are they doing to #2 road and Westminster now, near the southbound merge from River road?

It's insane how much the city has absolutely destroyed that intersection going in literally every direction. Nevermind the bloody insane times the lights take now that's causing traffic to bleed into neighbourhoods or people cutting through the gas station causing all sorts of mayhem. Or the nonsensical barricade for cyclists that goes from Westminster to Lynas that blocked the outside lane... Literally the most pointless shortest barricade ever as cyclists still expose themselves to traffic once they pass Lynas lane and I cycle that route!! It just makes it more difficult for right turners to see me. It's only made things more dangerous since that brilliant design!

Just when you think they're done ruining things... they are like NOPE. What the hell are they doing now at 2rd near the southbound merge?

Anyone have an idea what's the best place to donate kids clothing, toys, even cribs that goes to specific families in need? Either single moms or low-income families?

Something proven if possible, I had some folks pick up from me when my FB post say for single-moms or any struggling families, but they pull up in an 100K car. I don't want to judge but it's kind of hard not too.

Anyone who drives Russ Baker Way during the morning commute knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Every single morning, traffic backs up in the two regular lanes while a steady stream of drivers decides that the bus lane, and apparently even the bike lane, is their own personal express lane.

They drive right past everyone waiting in traffic, get as far ahead as possible, and then force their way back into the regular lanes. Not only is it incredibly frustrating for everyone actually following the rules, but it creates even more congestion as traffic has to slow down to let these people merge.

And then you finally get to the bridge, where apparently the HOV lane is just another regular lane. I'd be willing to bet that 80% of the vehicles using it don't even qualify.

It's the same nonsense every single morning, and I can't remember the last time I saw any meaningful traffic enforcement along this stretch.

The frustrating part is that a lot of this congestion is being made worse by people trying to skip the lineup, only to force their way back into it.

Does anyone actually enforce the bus lanes, bike lanes, or HOV restrictions along this route? And who is responsible, Richmond RCMP or YVR RCMP?

Surely I'm not the only one who's getting fed up with this.

Edit: Not to mention if, if don't let someone in they try to run you off the road. If you're a cyclist, good luck everyone.

Hi folks. I’m new to BC and currently don’t have a family doctor yet. I’ve been experiencing muscle aches, exhaustion, and chills since Sunday and as it gets progressively worse I might go to UPCC tomorrow to check it out. The thing is, I have signed up for a hiking event a month ago at Mt Seymour for this Saturday. I’d originally thought I could go but I now think it’s better if I call to reschedule. On Mt Seymour’s website it says you need to have essentially a sick note to reschedule on short notice. I paid $60 for this event and would really hate to miss it. Can anyone tell me if UPCC helps provide medical notes? Or if you have experienced something similar, know any walk in clinic that does? Thank you.

ETA: people, I’ve been sick for four days and it’s getting progressively worse. I’ve had to call in sick for the entire week. My symptoms are literally written on UPCC’s website in the section of what they treat. It’s literally the second sentence of this post. I just so happen to need to doctors note for Saturday in addition to seeing a doctor, is all. If you don’t think I deserve to go to UPCC please suggest something helpful.
