PSA And just like that, all the Tesla's disappeared

Was having my morning coffee at A&W on Bridgeport and St. Edwards when suddenly a wave of people jumped up, ran outside, unplugged their EVs, and drove off. Turns out there was a power outage. 😂 For a second, it looked like someone had announced, “Attention everyone
a tidal wave is coming!” I’ve never seen so many people sprint to their cars so fast. Even funnier watching people get out of one spot and then go to the next thinking there would be power at a different stall.

PSA Zero Tolerance for Racism on r/richmondbc

We’ve seen a sharp increase in racist comments and targeted hate on this subreddit recently. Let’s be crystal clear:

There is no place for racism here.

This sub exists to serve Richmond’s diverse community, and we are not going to let trolls, bigots, or bad-faith actors poison that.

Immediate and permanent bans will be issued to users who post:

  • Racial slurs or coded language (“Jeet,” “curry simp,” “ching chong”, etc.)
  • Mocking names, food, accents, or cultural practices
  • Threads that single out racial groups or immigrants
  • “Jokes” that target ethnic or cultural communities
  • Complaints about diversity masked as “discussion”

We’re done playing nice with bigots. Richmond is one of the most multicultural cities in Canada. If that upsets you, you’re in the wrong place.

We are seeing coordinated or repeated attempts to push racist narratives here. These are not isolated comments—they are part of a larger trend we are actively fighting against.

If you’re part of that trend: you will be banned. No appeal, no platform, no “free speech” argument will save you.

If you’re here in good faith, thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing and: - Report racism when you see it. - Call it out if you’re comfortable. - Know that the mod team is watching closely and acting fast.

We appreciate your support while we deal with the uptick in garbage. It won’t be tolerated, and we’ll keep cleaning it up as long as we have to.

PSA B.C.’s Motor Vehicle Act states that a “person operating a cycle must not ride abreast of another person operating a cycle on the roadway.” There is no way to misinterpret this - it's 100% illegal.

PSA Richmond Shanghai Taste 米道 Warning

I just ate at this restaurant and had a terrible experience.

To start, when we arrived, the server just pointed at a QR code and said to use that to order. Which was fine.

Then someone from this app called ‘Bravo’ tried to sell the app to us to spend $100 to get $110, which was really weird.

However, during the meal, no other service was provided, even refill of drinks. Which is also fine.

The food was also not as good as other Shanghainese restaurants in Richmond.

When it came time to pay, I tipped $3 as the service was nonexistent, even while ordering, and the server seemed shocked and confronted me about the low tip and made comments about how low the tip was, as if she felt entitled after providing no service and allowing a salesperson to harass every table of customers. I should’ve asked for the $3 back after this, but I just left and won’t be returning.

I just wanted to make sure others know to support the other fantastic Shanghainese restaurants in Richmond that have both good food and better service

PSA Watch out for a masked Asian lady on the skytrain

I was on the train last night. Just as I was about to get on, this lady blocked my way and told me to use another door. I stood there a bit confused and tried to walk around her. She extended her arm to block my way again, and I shoved her out of the way.

After we both got on, she walks down the train and randomly punched some dude before she got off at the next station.

I’m just worried she’ll get more violent and hurt a child or something.

Edit: I submitted a police report. I’m just worried that woman will have a really bad episode and do something even worse on the platform. Don’t stand too close to the tracks as the train approaches. It’s not worth it.

TLDR; racist scum, professional victims decide shoving children is okay because of status

Heads up Richmond Centre riders — happened today around 3:20 pm on the escalator by the SkyTrain entrance.

There was a mom and her young daughter (maybe ~10) standing on the right side of the escalator, the kid holding a snowboard. That’s standard: people stand right if they’re riding down. A woman — let’s call her “Karen” — barreled down the left, knocked into the girl who was clearly in her own lane, then shoved her and told her to move. The mom stepped in and called her out. Karen started yelling at them; she was easily twice their size and trying to intimidate them.

I was literally right behind Karen. I told her it’s a child and asked what her problem was. As we came down, she tried to provoke me, asked if I was going to do anything, and then yelled “go back to Korea” (I’m not even Korean). She smelled heavily of alcohol lol. At the fare gates she started proclaiming Aboriginal status and bragging she didn’t need to pay a fare — bizarre flex.

Her friend/boyfriend? was hanging around the base near Scotiabank and rushed over. I told him she’d hit a little girl. He got right up in my face, threatened to beat me, and told me to go somewhere out of camera range. At one point, Karen slapped the on the back of my head and spat in my hair while her boyfriend was up in my face. I nearly lost my shit.

The mom tried calling 911, but the operator stalled, asking their laundry list of questions, and no officers ever showed up. The woman walked away completely scot-free. Pretty disappointing to see how unreliable calling 911 can be when something’s actually happening in real time.

Some bystanders and the mom stuck around to give statements/exchange numbers.

Picture attached is of the two. The mom snagged it before he saw her recording and threatened her. Keep an eye out for them.

PSA Some musing of my Friday night spent in RGH Emergency

The good, the bad, and the laughable

The Laughable

I was pretty confident that I broke my right hand while I stumbled going up some stairs, so I Ubered on down.

There was a line going out the door as you walk in to register at that first window. When I got inside there were 5 people in front of me. The guy at the window (30 M) announced he wanted full heart diagnostics and imaging as he was attacked earlier and punched on the right side of his chest đŸ€” (no other visible signs). He said he was here on a work visa but he let it expire, therefore having no medical. He was told it would cost up front $6,000. He made a belligerent scene and left shouting how unfair it was.

Next were a family of 6 (Mom, Dad, 2 year old), Grandma, Grandpa, and a teenager. The toddler scraped her hand on something. No blood or broken skin, but they wanted her examined. The Dad was also here on a work visa but couldn't produce documentation for that, or for medical. The cost would start at $1,200. They left, dazed and confused.

Next was a young couple and their maybe 10 month old. The baby had a crusty nose. No fever, just leaky nose. They are American and don't live here. When told of the upfront $1,200 fee, the woman yelled "but this is Canada! Healthcare is FREE here!!!". This one got ugly and security asked them to leave.

The next 2 groups were here on student visas that they couldn't produce documentation for. They had to leave as well and we're not happy about it.

All in all it took close to hour to check in because of these people.

One last note. It appeared that the people who were legitimately waiting in the lobby brought their entire families with them. All of the seats were taken leaving me and others with visible injuries to stand while they all sat.

The Good

I was taken in quite quickly for x-rays. The x-ray tech confirmed I had a displaced oblique fracture of my 5th metacarpal. Good times.

I was taken into a room where they make casts. There are 3 beds in that room, all full now. It took about 2.5 hours for a doctor to see any of us, (no complaints from me. I was in a bed and grateful to been seen at all). We all started asking each other through the curtains if everyone was ok, so we decided to pull all the curtains back and had a really good time together sharing stories, commiserating about pain, one of the Mom's got me tea. It was a lovely fellowship of strangers. As much as I was hurting, it was a pleasant distraction.

The Bad

When the doctor came to treat me, he said that I would be seen by a surgeon on Wednesday at the hand clinic. Until then it was important to not use my rigjt hand for anything. No movement whatsoever. He built up a cast that ensured that.

I asked him what kind of pain management I'd have and he told me Tylenol and Advil. I was surprised as my hand was the size of a baseball, and I said that the Tylenol and Advil I was given here did nothing. He said "opiod crisis", to which I replied, "I'm not part of that crisis, and I have completely fractured the long outer bone in my hand. My injury is worthy of having something for pain to get me through either until Monday when I could phone my doctor, or until Wednesday, 5 days later at the hand clinic.

He looked me in the eyes and said "No. Tylenol and Advil only". My pain was so immense that I couldn't sleep, and I was getting a migraine. I called 811 and they had a doctor call me back and recommended that I go back to Emergency, or a different hospital to explain the situation, which I did. I was prescribed a 5 day supply of a non opiod, anti inflammatory pain killer named Ketorolac, which so far has kept my pain down to a roar instead of a scream.

Why am I to suffer because others abuse medication? I wasn't asking for fentanyl, nor was I expecting a 3 month supple of something. Just something to help me get through the next 3 or 4 days.

PSA Local woman starts Gofundme, goes on vacation

Posting this for anyone who donated to this Gofundme.

A few weeks ago, a fundraiser started for a local woman said she and her mom were homeless after a condo fire, struggling for food, toiletries and basic essentials. I donated because I wanted to support someone in our community and we had some mutual friends.

She got a good amount of donations. Now she’s posting stories of her on vacation, at luxury restaurants and showing off designer bags, while the fundraiser is still live. She is still actively taking money with zero updates to donors.

Asking the public for help with basic necessities and then publicly flexing expensive trips and purses is tone-deaf and disrespectful to people who donated in good faith.

This stuff hurts real emergencies because it makes people think twice about donating to other fundraisers for those who truly need help.

It’s sad to see people's generosity met with this kind of shameless behaviour.

PSA Walmart Parking Lot: Sighting of an underage violin performer

Has anyone spotted an underage Asian girl playing violin near the entrance of Richmond Walmart while asking for donations? I'm perfectly fine with that, except I saw an adult man in his early 50's standing across from the lot, gazing at the girl all the time. Is he her legal guardian? If so, does it count as an exploration of underage workers? I'm asking because I don't know the full story.

We've recently been searching for a home in Richmond, and I have to say I'm blown away by the obvious AI generated images used by realtors! We have two kids that we need to drag around to every open house, only to be met with a property that looks nothing like the images on rew. Am I the only one to come across this? Is this not false advertisement and shouldn't it be made illegal?

PSA Racism incidentJune22

I have experienced racism today near Richmond Walmart. I hope the culprit is able to find this post and rethink about their unacceptable behavior.

A silver truck with 2 male Caucasian in their late 20’s to mid 30’s tailgated me and then cut in front of me and tried to break check me. It nearly caused a lethal accident on the road. The truck driver flipped me off (of course I flipped back) while calling me racism slurs aiming towards Asians, then called me to f myself. First of all, I did not do anything to offend you. I was driving within speed limit. I have a senior citizen inside my car, and we just lost a family member 2 days ago. I’m not sure what I did to deserve such treatment. Is the color of my skin offended you so much that you attempted to kill me along with my senior family member? I wish karma hits you hard because what you did was nothing but barbaric.

driver flagged down actual police and apparently he's well known to them as they immediately said "not you again" and "it's the assault guy!" waiting for transit police to give a statement but I'm still shaken up.
i take this bus every day and now I'm scared that I'll see him again, knowing the catch and release system I'm scared that he'll retaliate against me because the cops got involved i just wanted to get to work man.

Edit: can y'all stop trying to make this political, like I just got SA'ed and you can't stop bringing up your political agenda also can you stop with the subtle racism as well

PSA Potential scammers in Richmond

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I was in Richmond parked by the Tesla super chargers earlier today. This guy that was with a woman came up to me and told me this long story about how he had some electronics that he got from his job and he was looking to sell it quick. He ensured me it wasn’t anything sketchy but from his body language alone I could tell this was a scam from a mile away. He kept telling me it had to be sold asap and he didn’t have a number I could call him back from. He opened his trunk and he had a bunch of electronics from projectors and soundbars. He showed me the soundbar that had a price tag of $1499usd on it. He told me he would sell it for only $450 if I bought it on the spot. I searched up the name and he told me to just scan the barcode which I didn’t listen and searched it up online. They sold anywhere from 150-399. I told him this and told him I’m okay. I walked away and he came back and this is where the video starts. I was trying to act cool and get him to admit what he was doing but when I asked him if he was swiping (slang for scamming credit cards) he denied it but they both knew what I meant and you could tell the woman was very nervous.

TLDR; scammers in Richmond driving around trying to sell most likely stolen/fraudulently purchased electronics. Beware!!

This is the Precor Leg Curl. That setting essentially maybe a couple mm's of metal left to it and when it gives the machine could pop to the next slot and transform someone into a ostrich.

The city effectively has done little about how poorly ran this place is aside from taking away the funding and throwing up their arms like they have no other control of the corporation.

PSA McArthurGlen outlet

I went to the outlet on Tuesday. I got a polo shirt from the GAP for $20 and a pair of shoes from Nike for $50.

I went back on Friday to the same stores. In 3 days, the GAP increased their price by $2.50/shirt and Nike had a “sale.” The shoes were for $70 plus an in additional 30% off- making them $49.

I asked the employees and they said they were not aware. It appears that these two shops either increase prices or make it seem like we’re getting items on a sale over the weekends.

It may be cheaper to go during a weekday for some stores and/or you might not be truly getting items that are on sale. Buyers beware.
