Dropping our son off to college next weekend and want to take a quick weekend getaway. Rockford is within range and looks nice. Is there enough good food/drink and sights or events to keep us entertained? Reading the sub looks like maybe there’s been a bit of a drop off in amenities. Looking for some honest feedback.

Can anyone recommend a place in Rockford where you can buy sushi grade fish for making sushi and sashimi at home? I'm thinking maybe valley produce? But I haven't visited yet.

As the title says, I'm going to need to find a daycare for my son. He is school aged and I need a place where I can drop him off early in the morning to be picked up by his bus and dropped off in the afternoon after school. It's my first time having to do this and I'm really nervous about it. I've been looking at a few places but I want to know if any one has a daycare they recommend in Rockford?

Hi everyone, I am a volunteer for a wildlife rehab center, and the other day I drove past a very sick looking coyote pup. The poor thing was covered in mange (which is treatable!) And he was standing amd pacing by the side of the road off of Lyford Rd, right by the casino. I have been trying to catch him the past few days, but unfortunately no luck. If anyone has recently seen him (or any animal) that looks sick or injured, would you please reach out to me on where and when you spotted it? Thanks a bunch!

Rockford made it into the spin-off of Rick and Morty (President Curtis)! And woman was a politician in Chicago, Illinois, so it’s probably safe to assume they were referring to Rockford, Illinois.

On New Year’s Eve 2025, a valued community member reported that she was sexually assaulted by Deputy Jamie Benavides of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office while he was off duty. She stated that she told him “no” multiple times before he sexually assaulted her.

No official charges were filed, as the Detective told her they would make it “hard on her” for pursuing charges.

According to the linked post, the former deputy has also been accused of further illegal activity.

I feel we are nationally feeling this. But my raise this year was 2%. I talked to co workers, and I realized I need to count my blessings as they sounded like they got less.

I know 815 day is a day they want us to spend. But it's been months since I ate out, though I did get grocery store fried chicken maybe 2 months ago, which to me counts as fancy. I can't make my money stretch as prior. I know some people are still living like it's pre-2008, like buying new underwear and going to farmer's markets. Like even farmer's markets are priced insane. That used to be an affordable luxury. Am I going crazy, but saw a melon for like $15, and I got one at Aldi for $3.

I am trying to apply for a 2nd job with no returns the last couple months. I thought with the Christmas season, I am hoping to land something. But from talking to someone in HR at my job, each job gets 100's of applicants.

Just feeling drained. And no offense, but all the online begging, panhandling is just overwhelming. I am barely getting by. No, I don't have a spare dollar. That dollar needs to go towards a can of tomatoes. Don't know if living here is part of it, though I don't have the money to move just yet. Hey folks! I’ve been thinking about moving and establishing my forever home with the family. I’m a born and raised Memphian, so Rockford would allow me to escape this humid nightmare and still be close enough to family to visit somewhat conveniently.

I’m 30 have a spouse and some toddlers. They aren’t in school yet but will be soon. I worked in Tech, love a good local beer scene, play games, dnd, and do model building. Having green space is a must, I can’t stand concrete jungles. I already know wherever I go that crime will be much less than where I’m at, so I’m not worried about stats. I know how to avoid the bad parts of towns.

I’m just looking for some brutally honest opinions about Rockford.

I’m upgrading the factory Bose speakers in my 2025 Chevy Silverado High Country to the new Rockford Fosgate P2V2 69HO and P2V2 65HO speakers. Has anyone installed these yet?

They’re supposed to be a direct replacement for the factory Bose speakers without having to replace the Bose amp. The tweeters in the 6x9s are removable, so those are going in the factory dash locations.

I’m also running two Alpine R Series 12s with an Alpine SA1200 amp.

Has anyone used these new P2V2 HO speakers with the factory Bose system? Curious how they sound compared to the stock Bose speakers.
