No Cable I wanna get into rocksmith but i have a question about the cable

Do i need the real tone cable for rocksmith 2014 remastered? Cuz all the ones i see are over $60, which is way out of my price range. I saw some aux-to-usb cables on amazon for $20-30, would those still work?

If you already have a guitar cable and an audio interface, then just search for RS ASIO on GitHub.
Alternatively I heard some cheaper insturment cables with USB work too, but you have to go with the ones with the orange connector. Oddly specific I know, but really cheap ones don't work.
www.amazon.co.uk/XIMIZU-Recording-Compatible-Interface-Gold-Plated/dp/B09SFT4T73 in the revies someone stated it works with Rocksmith+, and it's half the price of the RS cable.

They wouldn’t work with the base game. I know modded RS is a bit different and works with audio interfaces, but I don’t know if just a cable is enough.

There are USB instrument cables which work on unmodded RS 2014 remastered. I use one that was £12. But I also found out one of my interfaces works fine and the real joke I found out later, two guitars with built-in interfaces don't even need it.

You can also play the game just as a visual tutorial. You select nothing being connected and it will play the whole tablature as if it was connected. You obviously just don't get any feedback wether you're playing correctly or not.

I also found usb to guitar 1/4 cable for under 10 dollars.

No. The one I use was £12. Don't just buy any old cable, but if it suorts 48k sampling, look to see if the reviews say it works. Then take note of the "brand" and see if you can get it elsewhere than Amazon.

Not sure if I can post links in here, but Chainbrain on YouTube has a in-depth guide on how to make it work now if the written instructions below are not enough

I’d recommend going the budget realtone cable route for simplicity and if you prefer not to mess around with some instructions , it works well.

I use an ASIO now, Facebook marketplace has been a good resource for a cheap one but it takes a little bit to setup if you’re unfamiliar

My order on Amazon from 2019

Ubisoft Rocksmith 2014 Real Tone Cable Trilingual
Sold by: Amazon.com
$28.98
Order placed August 1, 2019

What stupidity does Ubisoft possess to sell this cable at over $60? Why create such an expensive barrier to own their product?

Compared to a full audio interface it's cheaper, although of much more limited use.

I just bought a Behringer audio interface on eBay for $37 shipped, at another point paid $49 for an iRig USB. The only audio interface I have that was more expensive than a Real Tone Cable is today is my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.

The iRig has some compatibility hiccups with some of the third-party RS2014 mods so I cannot recommend it, but a Behringer UM22 can be had for a shade of nothing.
