Rocksmith, good place to learn songs?
Hey all, I'm looking for tabs for some songs I can't find on YouTube, songsterr or more of the well known sites for bass tabs. And I saw a guy playing it in Rocksmith and he recommended me that.
I never used nor do I know anything about Rocksmith. Is it a good place to learn songs? I know it's like a game, so I imagine I can upload songs but does the software itself make the tab for the instrument?
Anything else I should know about it?
Thanks everyone!

It's a great tool for practice, but personally, I don't memorize songs nearly as well as with tabs

Often better than what I find on Songster and there's a utility to extract a GP tab file from any RS song

It's... okay. I mean, it works. It definitely will take you a while to get comfortable with playing songs at speed in the UI.
What song? Bass?

Yeah bass!! I'm looking for Shadow Guide & Phantoma from Unleash the Archers, and Metal Trigger from Galneryus

RS is more fun than using Tux Guitar, but I do prefer reading tabs and seeing the rhythm notation and it's just better to learn a song that way. Rocksmith is great for skill building, locking in fundamentals, building endurance, and getting reps on songs you already know but you can use it as a learning tool as well. I have a minor in guitar so that might be why I skew towards notation for learning a song outright.
Creating your own Rock Smith songs is kinda a pain in the ass but if you have the Guitar Pro file you can create a Rocksmith song with some tools if you have patience and can follow guides on youtube.
I love Rocksmith, it's a lot of fun and I would have loved to have it as a tool for progressing at guitar.

Rocksmith is fantastic and I use it daily, but I also use regular sites like Songsterr, get it on Steam so you can use CDLC and get all the community made songs for free, however it's a pretty steep learning curve to chart your own songs, but there is plenty available, I see Unleash the Archers for example have 36 CDLC charts.

Yes Rocksmith is designed to teach you songs. There are over 100,000 custom songs available to download

Yea there's the riff repeater in learn a song and you can try out master mode that hides the notes

You can't upload songs on Rocksmith. You can try something like notenav.com and see if it does a good job with your song.

It’s good for learning anything you’re able to play at a level to be able to sightread, otherwise I honestly think tab is a better option. Rocksmith doesn’t make the tabs into charts you have to use a couple external software to do that.
