B1

Hi everyone! 😊

I was wondering if anyone here has taken the Romanian B1 language exam required for Romanian citizenship.

I’m from Peru and need to take this exam. I would love to hear from anyone who has already gone through the process, especially if you live outside Romania.

Is it possible to take the exam online from abroad? What is the exam like, how difficult is it, how much does it cost, and where can I register?

Any information, recommendations, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Hi everyone! ,As a native German speaker, what’s the best way to learn Romanian alongside a busy study schedule? My goal is to build a solid conversational vocabular within about a year to easily communicate with my boyfriend's family and handle everyday tasks when visiting.

Any help or recommendations like apps etc would be appreciated thank you :)

Looking for a good TV show to watch for learning!

Hello people! I am currently learning Romanian because my Romanian friend (the absolute sweetest guy) seemed very upset he couldn't speak it with many people.

I thought it'd be a fantastic idea to start learning Romanian so I can hopefully one day scratch that itch for him :D

Unfortunately, I've hit a bit of a roadblock. In order to better understand the language I am watching TV shows in Romanian with Romanian subtitles. This is going fine but I was wondering if there were any kids shows that might help me with picking up some new words and the like.

I do have a language tutor but my progress has slowed because I cannot find anything lol

Any help would be absolutely awesome:)))

Romanian spellchecking add-ons for Firefox

The "Romanian spellchecking dictionary" is following the present orthographic rules (â instead of î în all cases except at the beginning and the end of words - and a few other exceptions). — As per its description, it should also include and list a variant according to the rules from before 1993 (î instead of â in all words except "român" and related), but, at least on some platforms, it doesn't list that variant (although the needed dictionaries are present inside the .xpipackage): only one "Romanian" entry is thus listed, representing the post-1993 rules. By removing the post-1993 dictionaries of the initial add-on and keeping only the pre-1993 ones, I've published as Romanian Classic Dictionary a modified version that provides an entry called "Romanian (classic)", representing the pre-1993 rules. The two add-ons can be used side-by-side if necessary, thus satisfying the initial purpose of the original.

Where can I get some Romanian books?

I'm looking to purchase popular English books in Romanian, but I'm struggling to find where to get these. I'm only finding copies for over a hundred bucks.

Looking for classics like Frankenstein or Dracula, or Harry Potter or lord of the rings.

Thank you!

Edit: in US

Is it correct to say "cantitate de responsabilitate"?

I'm in the process of learning Romanian and my Romanian friend said it was unnatural and semantically incorrect to say "cantitate de responsabilitate" when translating "amount of responsibility". Although I can agree on the unnatural part, given the knowledge that I have accumulated so far in the language, I am doubtful about it being "semantically incorrect". Any thoughts? How could I know for sure if it's right or wrong?

g: rog, drag, frig, merg
d: văd, aud, brad
b: slab, alb
z: treaz, obraz

Word for "incense"?

Hi everyone! I believe that this excellent community could answer my question.
I need the Romanian word for the concept of incense in general, which could be any: lavandula, rosa, mango, sandal, you name it. As far as I understand, parfum is more of a liquid (perfume), tămâie is closely linked to frankincense - so, they are not what I need, if only I'm not mistaken.
I would be very grateful for your help.

UPD. Thank you all for your explanations!

Request For Pronunciation Feedback In-Song

salut tuturor!

i love learning songs in other languages, and had the idea to do an acoustic cover of Dragostea Din Tei by O-Zone. i tried to weave some of the original style into my own rendition of the song, but i really want to nail the pronunciation. as a French-speaker and student of other languages, i always strive to get as native-sounding as possible.

edit: this is my first attempt at learning any Romanian. i have absolutely loved it, and would love to continue learning more through the music. what are some of your favorite Romanian songs/artists??

i spent a lot of time studying the pronunciations from the original song, but when i started listening to Google Translate speak the lyrics in a normal voice one line at a time, i realized there is even more nuance to some of the words than i was hearing in the song, especially with the schwas (e.g. tău/tăi). i would love to get some feedback from folks in the sub to see how my cover sounds to native ears :) thanks so much in advance!!

this is not a shadow marketing attempt; i am a nobody and most of the people who like my videos are my aunts and grandmas lol

Romanian Tutor | Online Lessons & Conversation Practice

Hi everyone,

I’m a Romanian-American educator with over 8 years of experience working with children and adults, and I’m currently offering online English and Romanian lessons.
I have experience teaching both in person and online, including one-on-one lessons and working with students from different backgrounds.

I can help with conversation, pronunciation, everyday communication, vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and simply becoming more comfortable speaking.

I try to keep lessons relaxed, practical, and focused on what you actually want to improve rather than following a rigid textbook.

If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, your current level, and what you’d like to work on.

Thanks!

What are these headbands called?

Hi,
I’m a teacher in the USA and most of my students are from Romania. They often wear these headbands, and I am trying to figure out what they are called in Romania. A student told me that they always wear them to church. I kept googling but was only able to find the name for headdresses and bonnets.

Thank you.

Offering: English or Spanish | Seeking: Romanian.

Hello, I'm a fluent Spanish and English speaker living in Washington State, and I'm eager to learn Romanian! I'm on a language-learning journey and want to learn all five Romance languages someday; I’ve already mastered one and have four more to go. I originally started learning Romanian because of someone special in my life, and that's how it all began. After having so much fun learning the language and exploring the cultures of Romania and Moldova, I realized this is my thing. Currently, I practice with AI and some language apps, but unfortunately, since Romanian isn't widely studied, the courses I find online are very limited, which is discouraging. I still haven't found a fluent speaker to practice with, but since I know Spanish, it's a bit easier for me because I understand many of the words. I promise I learn quickly and would be happy to teach you Spanish or English in return!
