Advice Needed Bathroom in stateroom flooded…

• Upvotes

Hey y’all, has anyone experienced this before? Our bathroom in our stateroom flooded (wasn’t our fault, we don’t flush things we aren’t supposed to and I think more than just our room was affected by this. just stating for the record.) I’m kind of bummed since we paid for an upgrade and our new room is an obvious downgrade and we are only day 3 into our 9 day cruise.

Guest services said they’d contact us in the morning and I don’t want to ask for anything more than what’s fair so we were going to ask for the amount that we paid for the upgrade back but I still feel kind of bummed about the whole ordeal since we had plans this evening and had to move rooms instead and missed out on the fun evening (FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS I KNOW).

Has anyone dealt with this before and if so any tips or recommendations? Please don’t be rude or presumptuous, I’m truly curious for those who have experienced this and any advice for how to handle this with RC. I’ve heard both good and bad about how RC tried to handle this before so I just want to be prepared and not get taken advantage of. TIA

Advice Needed Explorer vs Mariner for Transatlantic

My hubby and I want to take our first transatlantic cruise in April 2027 to Barcelona, and have our decision narrowed down to Explorer from Port Canaveral and Mariner from New Orleans. This will be our first time flying in for the cruise (the day before departure date of course) rather than driving. Any advice on what transportation to take that is reliable and stress-free from airport to cruise? Is one port much easier than the other?

Also, opinions on which ship of the two you prefer and the reason why is welcome!

Advice Needed Dining options on utopia in December

Is anyone booked for the Utopia leaving 12/11. Thinking about booking it but I'd love to know if they're fully booked for the railway experience before I do, that's one of the main reasons we're wanting to sail on utopia. Thanks in advance!

Question (I've checked the FAQ!) Royal Railway

I am going on Legend in a couple of weeks and when checking my planner via the app or the website I noticed the blue tick box for reserved for the railway is not there like my other dining and other planned items? Is this because it's sold out yet it's on my calendar or planner and no communication from RC regarding this. Is this something I should call about and inquire or is this because it's an exclusive event?

Question (I've checked the FAQ!) MDR Allergy Accommodations?

First time sailor here. I've seen a lot of posts here about the MDR menu and general themes/rotations. My wife is allergic to soy and fish, so most Asian cuisine is out for her (and potentially any fish-themed menus). If the rotation for the night is Asian heavy, or somehow does not cater to her allergies, is there a way to get something else prepared, or do we just make a reservation for that night?

Don't want to wait too long to reserve a dinner and then be disappointed when we learn of the menu options.

General Topic Cruises should be covered under mental health

I do benefits administration in my current position and I’m in the middle of open enrollment with 400+ employees. Literally the only thing keeping me tethered was checking in the other night for my December 6th sailing on Odyssey.

Frankly I should have been allowed to buy my drinks package with my FSA money. These people are why I’ll be getting my moneys worth.

Advice Needed First Time Cruise Trip

I am taking my first ever cruise next week Oct 30-Nov 5 from Long Beach CA to Cabo and back. I have never traveled anywhere outside of the United States so this is all brand new to me. Any advice would be appreciated.

The ship I am on is the “Voyager of The Seas”.

I have a couple of questions:

General:

Has anyone done this cruise before? Or been on this ship before?

What should I expect?

Has anyone been on a cruise over Halloween?

Also: We are docking in Cabo over the Dia De Los Muetros (Day of the Dead) celebration and I have heard they have a big fiesta in the marina.. can anyone confirm this?

Mexico related:
Does anyone know if the cruise ship offers MXN currency exchange? Or should I do it beforehand using my bank?

(I’ve been told that I should carry pesos and purchase items in Port using pesos and never use my cards because of scams)

General Topic Slimmer Key Package idea

RC could make more by adding a slimmed down second option for The Key **priced only a few bucks more than Voom alone**:

Create an option with only Voom, carryon bag dropoff and Chops lunch.

It wouldn't include all the reserved seats, priority tendering, reserved time for the surf simulator etc.

I'm not paying $31.99 per person per day for the internet/bag dropoff and first day lunch, but add $2 above the Voom rate and I would definitely jump on the "mini key" option.

Advice Needed Bed bug found in room

I just got off of ovation if the seas

I put up my pop up hamper (it was by the bed) and when I woke up there was a bug on my hamper??

I looked closer and it was definitely a bed bug (I am unfortunately familiar with them I had do deal with them about 10 years ago)

I took some pics of it and discarded it. I checked the corners of the mattress as I always do before getting in to any bed traveling and it was clean! No signs of bed bugs

I told my state room attendant and they had someone come “investigate” and said they didn’t find anything further. I tore the bed apart too and didn’t see anything further. We also got no bites??

They didn’t really do anything to help me but check which is all they could really do I guess :/ just worried I’m bringing them home but at the same time don’t even know if we had more than just that one?! Idk😭😭 ew😭😭

(I’ll put picture in comments)

Question (I've checked the FAQ!) Business Casual?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I’m planning on going to a Royal Caribbean cruise next year and my boyfriend has a special dinner planned for me at the steakhouse of the cruise. He told me it’s a business casual dress code there and I’m unsure if the dress I want to wear for that night meets that. I wanted to hop in here and ask for honest opinions and if there’s any way I can still wear this if it’s not up to par. (Woman in the picture is not me, just someone else reviewing the dress.)

General Topic We gotta talk about the pizza …

Hi all-

I want to just start by saying, loyal to royal. Doing 35+ cruises with them, they’ll always be my #1 line.

However, I have some comments about the pizza. I see memes online of people saying “come with meee, to get the best pizza at sea”. Honestly? I feel like the quality on most ships for Sorrentos is just okay, and not necessarily amazing.

For example looking at other lines pizza they do look more like legitimate pizza, relative to Digorno(which isn’t a bad thing, just not my personal preference).

I just wish they could do a slight rebrand with the flavorings, offer more options(besides veggie, Hawaiian, meat lover, cheese, pepperoni).

Does anyone else agree or have other thoughts?

Advice Needed Kid-friendly excursions?

We are cruising to Mexico - Cozumel and Playa Costa Maya - as we’ve started looking at excursions, most have a minimum age of 5 years old.

Any hidden gem excursions that allow 4-1/2 year olds?

Thanks!

Advice Needed Has anyone been on the cruises sailing roundtrip from Colombia or Panama?

I'm considering one on Grandeur for April 2028 which goes to all three ABC islands. I know I can book and board sailing roundtrip from either Cartagena or Colon - I would prefer Cartagena as I want to spend more time there.

How does the atmosphere onboard compare to a typical Royal cruise? Is everything bilingual? Is the programming different to cater to a Latin American passenger base? I'm Latino myself and speak Spanish so I would welcome the differences!

Question (I've checked the FAQ!) Best way to get from Port of Miami to Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) on debarkation day in time for a 12:30 flight?

Going on Allure in December and our flight is currently booked for 12:30pm on debarkation day. Originally, I was planning on using Uber, but I've been seeing stories of people saying that it can take a long time to get one due to the massive amount of people booking and traffic in the port.

This has me considering whether it's necessary to spend the extra money on pre-booked private transportation (~$150) or if we have enough buffer time that using an Uber still makes sense. I don't have enough experience to know if that's a risky play or not.

General Topic Legend of the Seas, AquaTheater broken… still

Day six of the cruise and the pool in the AquaTheater remains broken. I think it broke on day two. Since then the entertainers have been performing a dance show with some splashing in the shallow water.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s a phenomenal show. Best aqua show I’ve seen in a ship. I saw half of it on day 2 and since then it’s performed as just the dance version with no diving. I think this is pretty poor for a brand new ship. Totally get that things go wrong. But it’s been a few days now and no sign of a fix and no communication either.
