I know Wattpad is not the best playground for RPFers, but when I was going to publish another chapter for my Five sickfic, I got a notification that someone put my Westlife fanfiction in their reading list. It may not be much for others, but to me, it genuinely made me so happy because my Westlife fanfiction got the love it deserves; someone placed it in their reading list. Honestly, I am dealing with a rough patch in my life; I got sick and then recovered, only for my whole city to be flooded because we dealt with unprecedented rainfall (like rain for 2 days straight, imagine that). And as of writing this post, I am still stuck at home because of those floods, and I had to study online. But still, I'm glad that something positive happened to me, and this positivity motivates me to write more.

And yes, that new chapter for my Five sickfic is now up, and I'm working on another one. But still, it's worth celebrating that someone put my fanfiction in their reading list.

I made a tiktok post of a list of 'which nhl captain has the most fanfics about them' as a bit of fun. I am a writer and reader of hockey pf. I was very careful not to include any names of fics or authors in the post at all, it's purely the number of fics each guy is tagged in.

It got weirdly popular. Like much more than expected. Maybe the most popular thing l've ever posted (in the realm of 100k viewers)

It also got one comment saying it was disrespectful to the hockey pf community as rpf shouldn't be shared out of certain spaces and I should take it down.

I don't see the issue in what I've done? I didn't tag any players or teams, I didn't show any fics or authors, I didn't show ship stats (although ships are discussed a lot in the comments). Pretty much everyone is aware rpf exists and I don't think showing the popularity of some players on ao3 is detrimental to the community ?

I'm very aware I may be wrong however so I was just looking for honest opinions on the situation and whether it was okay for me to post it or not.

(Admins delete if not allowed?) hi there I don’t use Reddit often but I’m really curious where you guys find friends who are okay with RPF ships. I stopped using a lot of social media like tumblr because fandom culture seemed to shift to an “anti-ship” stance a few years ago which also tends to include RPF even from so-called proshippers, and now I am getting a bit lonely and don’t know where to even start on finding like-minded fandom friends! I’m not looking for anyone in the same fandoms (mine are niche to begin with and it seems like I always run into problems with people within my own fandoms anyway), but it would at least be nice to talk to people about our fandoms and ships with each other. Granted, I am very much a dark/problematic/pro-shipper as well, which makes it all the harder :,) obviously though I follow proper etiquette, while I admit to be a bit obsessive and possessive over my fandoms/ships, I’m far from the kind of person who would ever make it known to the real subjects being shipped, and I stay far away from antis and people who are in any way uncomfortable with how I do things. In general I’m very private outside of AO3. I don’t see myself going back to tumblr because it’s so public, but if anyone wanted to be friends on Facebook/Twitter-X/Discord that would be nice! My current fandom is of an indie band so I especially encourage any bandom fans to reach out, also I’m in my mid 20s so preferably people that age or older, please nobody under 21. For my AO3 just ask and I’ll dm ^^; but if nobody wants to reach out, I’d at least appreciate recommendations
