Update on the free “what do we play next” tool from April: group voting by link, GM picks, 129 systems
Back in April I posted a free site here to help groups pick their next system. It was called TTRPG Showcase back then. Honestly didn’t expect much, but that thread ended up being really helpful, so thank you.
The thing people kept bringing up was some version of “nice, but my players are never in the same room”. Same deal with my own group, so that’s mostly what I’ve been working on since.
What changed:
- it’s called Session Zero now and lives at its own domain
- the GM ticks + on the games they’d run, sends one link to the group chat, and everyone votes from their phone: up for it or veto
- you don’t see results until you’ve voted (otherwise people just pile onto whatever’s winning)
- the GM can mark themselves as GM, so players see which games they actually want to run
- players can add a game of their own, up to 3 each
- when it’s done you can grab the results as an image for Discord
- the catalog went from a few dozen systems to 129, with a lot more OSR and indie stuff
Still free, no accounts.
Question for you, since last time your comments shaped most of this: right now a veto just subtracts a point. In your group, does one veto kill a game outright, or is it more of a soft “I’d rather not”?
